Eminem produced most of his own biggest hits. He's an underrated producer, who writes his own lyrics. He produced "The Eminem show" himself, which went diamond, his most streamed, most famous album to date. He also produced for other people, and wrote a lot of Dr dres songs for him. Luis resto is Eminem's main producer not Dre like a lot of people are brainwashed to believe. Dr Dre has a lot of ghost producers and uses mostly samples where he just takes someone else's music Tweeks it a little, stamps it, puts his name on it and takes all the credit. The bass brothers and Eminem on production is what made his first 3 albums classics not Dre. Whenever your listening to an Eminem song check the song credits for who produced it, you'll see what I mean. The bass brothers (F.B.T) made the best version of Eminem with their production

Rubin didn't "almost ruin" Shady's career, he brought a different perspective. God forbid an artist does something different. Crazy most people just shit on Eminem for these albums not being the same as his old ones. I bet if he sounded like old Eminem they'd say that he needs to "get with the times." @jessicarichter6436 The only em albums I really just haven’t cared for were MMLP2 and revival. Largely because of the production. I like recovery. He had some club type hits on there. 25 to life is my absolute fav on there. But relapse.. songs like same song and dance and stay wide awake.. and the other more darker content. Even beautiful

The rock influenced sound worked for Em sometimes. White America is in my top 5 favorite Em songs.

MMLP 2 was a great album and was actually received very well. It didn’t hit the popularity that Recovery had but I think most fans appreciate MMLP2 much more. The reason Revival failed was because Em decided to go woke. You can see on the track record of almost everything that went forced wokeness and it failed miserably. I do agree though I think Dr Dre’s style works more with Eminem. Em is extremely technical with his lyrics so having a producer who is a perfectionist helps with that. Rubin is more free flowing with his approach.

Maybe Rubin really gets his perfectionist mindset on when it comes to producing rock cuz god damn there no better, perfect produced album than Smashing Pumpkins’ Siamese Dream.

I'll admit, I've been a huge fan of Rubin's since the 90s, when I realised he produced a lot of my favourite music from my whole life. He's a big reason why I got into audio engineering and eventually producing music for others. I got his book the week it came out. I read about 40 pages and gave up. I realised he's a wishy washy hippy with no real knowledge to impart on anybody. He was lucky and was around the right people at the right time. He was willing to put his efforts behind pushing a musical culture that had not been presented accurately on recordings at the time. He made a lot of exceptional albums letting artists be artists. He's not a music producer, he's a musician producer. But yeah, The Creative Act: A Way of Being is an overly pretentious and utterly useless guide to living your life in a creative way. If you watch a couple of long interviews with him, you'll hear the entire book in them.

It's really difficult being an Eminem fan where the stuff that's most successful tends to be the stuff I dislike. MMLP2 is terrific, and the tracks Rhyme or Reason and So Far are great.

Literally everyone sleeps on MMLP2 and Revival. MMLP2 is just fantastic, and Revival took time to grow, but the lyricism is absolutely incredible throughout the entirety x

This is why i am excited for this new eminem album, bc 1. He is going back to storytelling and 2. He is going to be pushed by dre to do something different... hopefully

I respect the contributions of Rubin to rock AND hip hop, but I've been saying his work with Em was lackluster at best. They peaked with MMLP2 (not even all of it) and shoulda left it at that tbh.

We all know Ems one of the goat rappers & top tier lyricists but Ems also a phenomenal producer he learnt from the best with Dre ofc. Ems best & biggest album the Eminem show Em produced himself, he did a lot of his own biggest hits & for other artists too 🐐

Rick ruined Deloused in the Comatorium. The loudness of the record makes it sound terrible and pops when you play it at certain volumes. I’d love to see the album re-mixed with better levels. Before anyone says that it’s the job of the audio engineers and sound mixers, all of Rubin’s albums from that era sound that way and he is clearly singing off on them.

Despite what you might think, Rick Rubin is OBJECTIVELY one of the greatest producers, across all genres of music, in all of human history. He undeniably helped pioneer, not just hip-hop, but a good amount of what became late 90's punk and metal, AND even some country albums (pretty much just posthumous Johnny Cash, whom everyone loves). Rick is genuinely a music god. I think him and Em N E E D to try again
