Command Master Chief Britt Slabinski, who at the time was a Senior Chief in DEVGRU Blue Squadron, was the Team Leader of Mako 30, said Three-Zero. MSgt. Chapman, at the time TSgt. was the USAF Combat Controller of Mako 30. CMC Slabinski has a very good reputation in the Navy. I say Navy not just SEAL Teams to prove a point. CMC Slabinski was a ‘Force-level’ Command Master Chief when he retired. He worked all over the place outside of DEVGRU as a Senior Enlisted Adviser. Why do I bring this up? You don’t get into positions like this, let alone half a dozen of them continually by being an untrustworthy liar. So lets get to the grit. Mako 30 was under an incredible amount of enemy fire from all directions. They had already lost 1 team member from Mako 30 when their Chinook was hit by an RPG , causing Petty Officer Neil Robert to be thrown out of the helicopter. At this point, the protocol was for the helicopter to retreat from the area. However Sablinski who had tactical control, overrode protocol. He ordered the helicopter to put them down at the summit very close to where Roberts had been ejected. If Slabinski was so dishonorable as to leave behind Chapman, why would he risk his team and go back in when he didn’t have to? He could have let the helo leave, following orders and been completely in the right. This element right here totally proves Slabinski’s meddle. Common sense would tell us there is no need to even contemplate anything further. But I digress. The incredible amount of enemy fire I talked about before took a toll on all members of Mako 30. Roberts was already dead. Chapman was down and not ambulatory after his charge on the bunker. That left Slabinski and 4 other DEVGRU SEALs. All 5 of them were wounded, 3 critically so. Slabinski thought Roberts and Chapman were dead, so he made the decision to break contact and try to escape in the direction of Mako 31 which was further down the mountain. Command Master Chief Britt Slabinski should have no shame. Chapman was down. He was unconscious for 5 hours. We know this because the Predator had eyes on him the entire time. The same Predator….the entire time. Why did I highlight that bit about the Predator you ask? Yeah this is the part that no one is talking about. The Predator in question was overhead throughout. Now to the follow on mission. The QRF, aka Quick Reaction Force, was launched quickly after Mako 31 called ‘No Joy’. QRF was from the 1st Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment. They had little info to go on, just that someone was missing. So many things broke, that this was all the info they had. The QRF about Razor 01 and Razor 02 went in to Mako 31 and Mako 30 respectively. Razor 02 was hit as soon as it touched down near the same bunker that ate up Mako 30. A Chinook helicopter with 12 Rangers and 2 Airman met the same fires that the 6 member of Mako 30 took on. The same amount of incredible fire. RPG’s, Mortars and Machine-gun fire. So much so that the QRF needed air support in a dire fashion. They initially turned down an F-15E with 500 pound bombs. They were 100 meters from the bunker, so 500 pound bombs would have resulted in killing the Rangers too. Wait a minute! The Predator is still up there. The QRF USAF Combat Controller has been talking to the Predator the entire time. The Predator has 2 Hellfire Missiles. QRF decides to call for the fire. The Predator puts its first Hellfire down, its off target however. QRF asks for the next one and they get it, the next Hellfire destroys the bunker. Keep this in mind for later, the QRF didnt know Mako 30 had 2 casualties possible still at this summit bunker. The Predator, never said a word. The QRF from Razor 01 joins up with the Razor 02 Rangers and they make their way up to the bunker. When they get to the bunker, they find 2 dead friendlies. They would turn out to be Roberts and Chapman. The big whoop here? Chapman was inside the bunker. Did the enemy capture him or find his body and bring him in? Well the Predator saw him fight his way into the bunker. Considering the fire the bunker brought on the QRF, Chapman had to have been dead. It would have been nice if the Predator could have shared that info with the QRF, because they initially thought they killed both Chapman and Roberts. Chapman regained consciousness and started fighting the bunker again. He was an absolute stud! Talk about a hard MFer right? Why didnt the Predator communicate this to the SEALs in Mako 30/31 or to the QRF? And here is where the real cowards come in to play. It was a shift change. The Predator made several shift changes to different pilots. They never bothered to do turnovers. So when time came for the QRF to ask the Predator to put a missile into the bunker, the pilot never had a clue. And they didnt pass any word to the QRF. This last part is the real controversy. This video took over a decade to get out and took alot of pressure from another veteran Combat Controller to get peoples attention. Dan Schilling, a Combat Controller and friend of Chapman, was a veteran of the Battle of Mogadishu, aka Blackhawk Down. Why didnt the video come out? The USAF was ashamed that is why. I first heard about there being video from a Predator in 2002. The rumors talked about Neil fighting it out on the ridge. Which was true but there was no video of that. The Predator didn’t take notice of the ridge until after Roberts was likely already dead. Everyone knew there was a video but, it didnt come out because of the secrecy behind the units that made up Mako 30/31, or so they said for a long, long time. Slabinski didn’t know what was on the video until he saw it on the news. The SEAL commander of the initial mission, Commander Hyder never knew about the video until he saw it on the news. Captain The Predator unit should be ashamed. The entities that spread fake news about CMC Slabinski leaving a man behind should be ashamed. The entities that made up news about NSWC blocking a medal should be ashamed.

Interesting that there is never a mention of the Aussie SAS when the Roberts Ridge story is told in the US. This from the US Military Journal: Two Australian SAS teams, calling air strikes against the ring of attackers, saved the rescue group that was under intense fire from mortars, machine guns, and small arms. Spectre AC-130 gunships dumped 105millimeter fire into mujahideen positions while Apaches shot up enemy vehicles moving toward the fight along the narrow mountain roads twisting up steep valleys. Hagenbeck told the press that the “hilltop was surrounded, but we were pounding them all night long. We thought when morning came they were going to do a ground assault. They were poised to overrun the [U.S.] position. We gave everything we had to get those guys out.”

They need to fight with the gloves off and when our country relies on them consistently like we do it clearly changes them to a point where anyone not in these units can recognize. Understanding how ruthless you need to be with this type of enemy is hard to do on the sidelines. There is no such thing as "War crimes", just counter terrorism. You dont win battles or wars playing by THE rules. That simple. The guy is talking and Neil is just saying "uh huh uh huh" while walking behind him taking stuff from the containers . It was hilarious. He was beloved by the community and back in those days we weren't friends, we were and are brothers. So, when that happened to him it wasnt a team mate who was dishonored, it was our brother. To hear Mr. Cole infer that the team members of Seal Team 6 were seeing combat for the first time I believe is a false statement. They had been involved in combat operations for over 20 years throughout Central America, the Middle East, Africa, Bosnia, et.al.. I ran into a Seal Team 6 plank owner, original member, during Operation Just Cause in Panama in 1989. He had been in numerous operations in the past, including Grenada in 1983, when Seal Team 6 was in its infancy.
@stevebanning902 Жыл бұрын
None of those things were real war. Those were operations against small clandestine 'militias'.. basically a walk in the park for any american trained unit. This was a full scale, multi country effort war where sourrounding nations were training and sending millions of fighters and resources into the battle to fight against the americans.
@chumpobumpo Жыл бұрын
I mean, he is implying it’s the first sort of operation where ST6 would be purposefully engaged in large scale, combined arms, ground direction. I doubt many of the members who served in Granada would still be around in 2002. Prior to Afghanistan, the closest experience they had was Bosnia, and their focus was not to get in firefights, but scratch and grab missions. I don’t think he’s implying ST6 weren’t well trained and elite, which they obviously were, it’s just at that time, this sort of operation wasn’t their MO, and in the battle for budgets and recognition from the DoD, they needed a “win”.

The mandate of tier 1 guys changed post 9/11. They went from hostage rescue, to kill/capture. Then after the enhanced interrogation program went down in flames, suddenly there is no real incentive to capture the majority of targets either. So these guy were being instructed to go out and kill people. Who are we to tell them the way they should have done it? If they were deliberately killing people they knew were noncombatants, they should go to jail. No question. But if a guy is shooting at them one minute, runs away and throws his weapon because they are gonna catch him. I couldn't care less if they shoot him. Because he's just gonna be trying to kill the next guys he gets the chance to. As far as scalping goes? I don't give a fuck either. I have no idea what it feels like to have one of my friends killed like that. I'm not gonna tell people who have, that they are erong fir getting revenge. Or that they are getting revenge the wrong way.

Rotting fish start stinking from the head. The initial problem at both Robert's Ridge and the later Redwing Operation, which were arguably both SEAL team failures, started when high level Navy Officers gave orders about SEAL team deployments. High level Navy Officers are sailors not land combatants. This is a fundamental problem: navel based infantry units. Too many people in the chain of command lack the training and experience to make wise, informed decisions about the deployment of what is essentially combat infantry.

I don’t know why the seals left him but what happened to never leaving a team member behind? I heard their CO bought them all tomahawks to use in their missions. I’m sure they wanted revenge but they’re supposed to be professional’s. Once the command encouraged war crimes there was no reeling the seals back in. If murder and mutilation is acceptable then what isn’t? It’s funny looking back at seal team 6’s CO lecturing the seals because 3-4 had positive drug tests. I can almost understand self medicating to deal with the traumatic imagery and stuff they were being required to do. The seals should be disbanded and the other spec ops guys get the missions.
