At the airport. And as a modern Era roofer, the truck has a conveyor belt. The delivery company shows up with 3 dudes, two on the roof to run around and load it and one to feed the conveyor belt. That's if you're lucky. If unlucky it gets ground dropped and you carry them up the ladder yourself. Hope this answers your question. Have a great day.

When I was in high school I used to sneak out of my house at night from the 2nd story and those wooden shingles got slippery and could be dangerous for an intoxicated teenager to climb back up. Then my parents put in a composite roof which was much safer for walking on but the contractor told my parents that there were a bunch of burnt matches outside my bathroom window and that’s how the caught me smoking weed for the first time Lol! 😂

I worked on a .ulti million dollar house and told the homeowner there we screws in all the kids bathroom windows. 4 of them. She said " yeah I had my brother in law do that and disconnect the vent fans in each on also." Oldest kid was 12 when they moved in. Smart mom.

Done it ... pay is good. Almost metal prices. But it's a piss off job. Meaning you, the only person who knows how to nail a shake down is the only one on the roof. Very few out there now that know how to do it. The paper sucks if it's a full roll. Allot of cutting paper rolls to fit the width. Love this old fashion video. All wrong today. Cheers

@petekobraoutdoors7324
@petekobraoutdoors7324 Жыл бұрын
@sparksmcgee6641 your talking like it happens to every nail, every house, lol, impossible. You can over hammer the nail or rip the paper around the nail or whatever. There's absolutely no way that product fails like you are saying, because if it did, it would've been used. And if it takes more than 50 years for water stains to form around nails, then that's fulfilling any warranty out there,😆 But the tar paper itself is waterproof, and that's the objective. And if you can't properly nail into a shingle, or whatever without tearing the paper, then don't do it. Call a professional 👌

4x the cost of asphalt shingles also I don’t know of any Mexicans or Brazilians that know how to do a wood roof correctly so you get the 50 to 75 years out of it if they were to do it you’d probably get 25.

It's been nice that you showcase roofing products that are not flammable byproducts of gasoline!
@RoofingFacts
@RoofingFacts Жыл бұрын
Cedar roofs are banned across a lot of the US for being an extremely flammable roof and because the treatments for the wood were often environmentally hazardous, as well as a health hazard. In addition, these types of roofs required lead flashings (also hazardous) and using steal flashings would cause galvanic reactions (also hazardous over time) I hate shingles (garbage product used by people who care more about saving money today rather than longevity), but Shakes were way worse in so many perspectives, especially considering flammability
@matthewsands7448
@matthewsands7448 Жыл бұрын
I am not arguing any of those points! All great! Where I roof in the Midwest, fire is not a big concern, though. I have never done wood shakes, but I install 100% stone coated and painted steel panels that do look like wood shakes without all the negative side effects. I feel quite a bit of problems with today's roofs, is how much people that have platforms promote/talk about a roofing product that can be directly traced to climate change, through the high island effect. Not to mention the 8% of all landfill waste. (EPA data, combined with the manufacturer sales data) The most recent videos I have seen from this channel have not been showing those problems products that trap good people into planned obsolescence. It has been nice! Woodshakes have been used hundreds or years, if not longer. In the right market do work! Hopefully, you have this much passion for not using the problem roofing product! (It's asphalt shingles, by the way)
