The Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM) has had to change the way training is managed during the coronavirus pandemic in order to prevent a "black hole" in the recruitment process.
The base in Lympstone, Devon, has continued its recruitment and officer training during the pandemic.
However, there are a number of measures currently in place which are under constant review amid the changing nature of the crisis.
We joined recruits earlier in the year.

Bottom field or drill square - I quite liked the assault and Tarzan course, but hated squad drill. I had nightmares about messing up bayonet fixing to my SLR - ‘horses for courses’ I suppose. Didn’t much like mud runs though during winter! 😂

I didn’t mind bottom field. I prefer it to indoor gym class. Cause you can’t fidget or scratch or wipe sweat off in indoor gym. Otherwise you get beasted 😁

Personally think the UK needs to step up on the supply of everything in the forces and increase our overall military size because at the moment, we are still shrinking, not getting bigger... good old budget cuts and picky standards due to little to no finance, Boris needs to step up and do instead of say.

@@HighFlyer6969 lol i'm not saying lowering them like that, but i am saying be helpful, i've seen people medically refused on the most miniscule of things, like 1 guy i know, fit as hell, passed everything physically with flying colours, he got medically barred and refused entry because he was prescribed an inhaler once when he was a kid lol, whereas i know someone else with borderline hypermobility, he got in, but someone he knew, who had the same thing, didn't! The point is, since the UK decided to go private and out of house with CAPITA, there is no set guidelines, each doctor has their own rules and this creates these issues, personally i think it should go back in house and use a set guidelines with medically qualified personnel having the ability to make decisions at their discretion, then we'll continue to keep our high quality level troops but we'd make it more fair for everyone trying to get in.

@@Orcaben1 the inhaler thing is wrong then, because they'll refuse entry if you've used the inhaler in the past 2 or 3 years I think it was and being "fit" doesn't really mean much imo because you can be fit but also not be able to do the 30km distance with 10kg on your back and do it within the specified time ,he could've probably gotten into the engineering unit however and the point isn't to make it more fair for people ,our infantry troops are far better than the US troops even ,even the Finnish, I say that because we had 1000 soldiers ,10 tanks and took out a large base afghan base the US soldiers couldn't take with 10,000 troops, we had one injury even too and it was due to friendly fire ,we need to focus on the navy more than anything, when I mean navy I mean specifically sailors because they don't have enough numbers

That the USMC has different (lower) entry requirements 🤷🏻‍♂️. The more valid question would be how many of those 1500 are going on to be Grunts and how many are Support Troops? The USMC had got bloated and slow, thankfully their Commandant, General Berger, has seen this and is pushing through some drastic changes to make them more effective and to put more 'bayonets' on the ground. Oorah!!

@@arran2308 I got a thing with my eyes where they shake so if they did serger you there is a extremely high chance that I will feel sick none stop as the world will seem like it’s always shaking as my brain has gotten use to my eyes shaking and correcting how I see. Hopefully that makes sense but I always just have really poor vision.

I’m going through the process now, most stuff is online, zoom and over the phone, you don’t need to do the psychometric test if you have 5 A*-C GCSES (maths,English,science) and can provide evidence

Parallel- Knight You’ll be fine if you revise properly. I suggest getting the recruitment test navy practice book, really helped me! It’s not the questions that are hard, it’s the time that really gets people.

Kerem Aysan I’ve tried the practice tests they have and as for a lot of the questions they’re not to hard but as you said the time and the especially for me it’s the way the questions framed/asked

Yes the British military recruits from all former or current Commonwealth countries. Look on their website for more information. Otherwise you'll just have to go become a citizen and then sign up. I've heard of South Africans who've gone and earned their green beret.
