Slavs maybe Slavs, but us Germans can't think of any side dish apart from potatoes either. And soup is very important , too. Chicken-noodle-soup is considered medicine for every possible ailment. And we also have hundreds of stews which we also call soup. We eat lots of cabbage, red beet and herring as well. So not such a big difference.

Soviet Union, Soviet Women - this is the real soviet propaganda, that is the world which does not exist and never existed. You cannot read in such magazines about Gulag, famine in Ukraine, soviet secret police NKVD, millions of people killed during WWII and purges in 1930s etc. etc. Believe me - I have spent my whole childhood in a communist country dependent from USSR. There is nothing to love in the USSR.

Incredibly healthy food! I've been watching a lot of these Russian vlogs and two things: The entire county seems amazingly clean and free of any kind of trash. That and the roads and streets are flawless! Everywhere. They're also huge with lane after lane of access. I'm sick of propaganda fed to Americans by Americans about the rest of the world. Russia looks like a proud and beautiful country with an amazing history.

Love the cat in the restaurant too. I saw no cats as I walked the streets and asked where they were and was told that they are in the sleeping areas outside the old city. I later saw two cats at the Hermitage and was told that many cats lived there and had good care. I bought beautiful cat cups, cat dolls, cat post cards and there were paintings of cats. Friends in Canada who later received the post-card- paintings of the cats remarked on their beauty.

Great video. I am fortunate, as an American, to be married to a Russian (originally from near Kazan). The experience has been amazing, and we are shortly moving to Russia for a few years to spend time with her side of the family. People ask me all the time what Russian food is like, and I tell them that they have probably been eating the same things in America without realizing it. And yes, soup is in the soul of the country (we eat soup at least 3-4 days a week). Apartments in Russia are much better constructed than in America (you don't hear your neighbor use his toilet at 2 o'clock in the morning!). And Marina is correct about the metro train stations...they are complete works of art. I drove my wife crazy wanting to spend time photographing the various train stations in Moscow. I could spend a week just traveling the metro for photographic opportunities. Thanks for the video!

Very interesting video thank you a lot. I like your apartment looks very nice. In my country is the same thing: an apartment with one bedroom doesn't have a living room, but I like this kind of houses. I'm from Republic of Moldova and this kind of soup in my country it's like a national dish and it is called "borș" and it is served in all of restaurants during hole year (not only in cold period), and we also have the meat and potatoes and this is very very delicious.

That book is so f*cking cool!!!! It makes me dream about what young people in Russia might have been learning about the U. S. My heart hopes Russian people have warm feelings about our country. I adore the Russians I have known. Such beautiful people and such a beautiful country. We are all so similar in so many ways, yet I treasure the cultural differences and love experiencing new cultures. Your videos are an amazing way to see through the keyhole into your world. So so so wonderful. Best wishes to you!

The toilet room is rather unusual for me - or is it that i'm not used to seeing it since most romanian apartments have the toilet in the same room as the bathroom. There might be places with separate toilets, but I have yet to see one. I liked part of the wallpaper and the 'picture' in the toilet room along the other tiles. they inspire the writer in me lol

I really love your video. Especially that cute kitty cat. I am an American who has a huge love for Russia. I practically have no choice to love Russia as much as I do. Seeing that I am part Russian myself. All thanks to my late father's side of the family. Who is as far as I still know is of Russian, Polish, and Austrian ancestry. Where my Mother's side is of German, English, Irish, and Scottish ancestry. And I have always considered myself more Russian and Polish than the other 5 countries I am a part of. I so totally wish I could go to Russia. Even though I can only speak a little bit of Russian. But the 2 places I would so love to see the most is St. Basil's Cathedral and The Amber Room. But unfortunately for me I can only see and hear things about Russia either through the tv and the internet. Because of my slight fear of flying and the lack of money. Going to Russia is out of the question for me. But I am glad that my late aunt got to see Russia sometime back in the 70s. And after seeing this video I now know where my love for potatoes comes from. Since I am always eating something that is potato related. Preferably the seasoned potato wedges that I love to make.

Paul V. Yeah but Russian sushi is different from sushi in Japan :'D. I've eaten sushi in the Rostovskaja Oblast in those Ginza restaurants she showed in the video and I've eaten sushi in Kyoto and Tokyo... From what I can tell, it looks like there's something called "American style sushi" and what you can find in Russia looks like this American style sushi rather than Japanese style. But both styles have their good points 😁
