Exactly, Spot On!! These are all fakes now, they took sponsors along time ago and have been beholding to the RV manufacturers and other suppliers for some time. I called out BTBRV a long time ago when JD switched from Ranch Hand to eTrailer and started pushing anything eTrailer sold. Matt, what a joke that is, Josh has a god he's beholding to now, LJMJ is not full time, they bailed some time ago along with many other "Full Timers" . It's all about the YT revenue for these people so the charade goes on.

I am personally working on federal safety regulations where NHTSA no longer allows the RV industry to "self certify and self regulate". Yes, I got the email from them officially stating this fact. Hope, that will happen sooner than later but it is going to take ALL of us to push for this. Working on an Internet based petition to be able to present to the NTSB and to Congress to pass appropriate laws.

Great video, Jacob. I just started watching a new channel, and he has 2 NDAs against G.D., and they have shut him up tighter than a clam on dry land. I also like to watch another brand ambassador channel, as you said, that is always getting to use new RVs to promote the G.D. line. I started watching them initially because they had great how-to videos now it's just fluff and stuff. I love watching AZ Expert because he does nothing but repairs and new product installs. I don't care about all the drama and B.S. with this manufacturer and that dealer. I just want to see how these things can be repaired and how they work.
@genef1027
@genef1027 3 ай бұрын
There are enough other KZbinrs who have had published their G.D. frame issues that 'Silencing by NDA' by G.D. doesn't stop the conversation. G.D.'s argument (that the observed frame flexing is normal and necessary) hides that the actual flexing is higher than the frames can handle. It's a marginal design. The dynamic stress is causing frame failure on a more than an acceptable percentage of the large 5th wheel RVs. The G.D. large 5th wheel frames are inadequate strength for the observed dynamic loading of the frame, in an unacceptable high minority of those RVs. It's not only causing frame failures, it's damaging the attached sides, trim pieces, and loosening the floor panels. It's also damaging the slides and cabinets. Those pieces weren't meant to twist and flex so much. They will also fail prematurely. One KZbinr's G.D. Solitude was reworked at the factory with additional gusset plates and stronger welds, and the excessive frame flexing appears to have been resolved. He says the RV even handles better on the road now than originally. I believe the best thing to improve G.D.'s reputation is to retrofit all of those monster fifth wheelers with what they did on this one person's RV. Also, I've seen a number of examples of lumpy, low quality Lippert welds. I'm not surprised that some of the welds fatigue crack. Lippert needs to retrain their welders to higher standards.

Kudos to you for helping RV owners save money on repairs and learning preventive measures to keep their RV'S on the road. I watch Liz Amazing channel, and all the bad experiences RV owners have are always RVs that were made during the beginning of Covid when the country was shut down. So, who was showing up for work to put these RV'S together back then? And with supply shortages everywhere, where were the parts coming from? The RV industry was making do somehow. And now that these very RVs are falling apart all over the place, it's clear they were making do with very little with nothing to spare. And RVs that were made when things were getting back to normal and up to the present, those RV'S are falling apart too. Instead of making RVs like they used to, all these manufacturers are doing is to just keep printing up more NDA forms! Pretty shoddy industry it's become 👇.

Big fan of your content. As per the report you mention agreed there is an agenda. However few unbiased 3rd party media companies are willing to report on this matter as they are afraid of litigation for Winnebago and that’s just a fact. So if you think about it, there’s few other media outlets who would be willing to take the risk. Did you happen to read Winnebago’s reply to the report? Vague, and not disputing of the specific claims made. Just a general, generic and corporate dismissal. Would love to see Winnebago sue them, however they won’t cuz they know they are at fault. So while the investment people might profit from Winnebago’s potential value decline they are also taking the risk none of the other media companies have been willing to take and personally I think that counts for a lot. As a member of the FB Group Grand Design Major Issues I’m glad they at least someone is trying to tell the truth. Hi Jacob. Rv dealerships should be held responsible for some of this mess coming out from the factories. They haul them to a dealer lot and that's the end of it until someone buys it. It can sit a month, or a year in rain storms, cold, snow, hot sunbaking weather and NEVER be checked out FULLY be the dealer. Some rv's will sit on a dealer lot for a couple of years. Dealers do not check the seals on the roof, they do not hook them up to power/water or completely try and see how everything works, is anything wrong, any hidden problems like leaks, faulty wires, cracks, Dealers do crap to make sure every rv that leaves their lot is safe, reliable, and no underlining issues. Dealers know for a fact that those Rv's coming in to get sold are going to have issues,, some will have HUGE issues and they do not care!

There is no other industry I know of that is so protected by Indiana State law. Unjustifiably so, but no matter what state you have an issue with an RV, it is arbitrated in Indiana. If RV manufacturers were home builders, they’d be out of business or in jail or perhaps both. I’m not sure there is any other industry where their product has gotten crappier over the past few decades as they figured ways to squeeze cost and quality out of the end product.
@JohnSterenberg-z7j
@JohnSterenberg-z7j 3 ай бұрын
Which Indiana State law or laws specifically protect RV manufacturers? If you’re referring to the arbitration agreement, that’s in the warranty written by the manufacturer and their attorneys, and which is accepted (unwittingly) by the purchaser. As to the comparison to home builders, look up lawsuits against D R Horton, “America’s Largest Home Builder”. Also, many products have gotten crappier as the manufacturer has shifted production overseas.

1/2 I've done more study of possible ways to lower the dynamic stress load on the G.D. large 5th wheel trailers (to not flex the frame so much). Please note that if the welds welds near the suspension are cracked, they MUST be repaired before modifying the suspension. Also, you'll want to determine if the shell of the trailer is tweaked out of square. That can be done by careful diagonal measurement of all the corners of the trailer (and observed with a 3D laser level). If any surface of the shell is out of square, some damage to the trailer is already done. One owner observed his shell was about 1-1/2" out of square (as measured on the diagonals), meaning the frame is 'racked'. At that point, the following components of the trailer are potentially compromised/damaged from excessive flexing: A) Frame welds may show thin spider cracks or may have large cracks B) the floor attachments to the frame loose C) the cabinets attachment to the shell loose D) the cabinets doors may be misaligned/racked E) the drawers within the shell (misalignment from racking) F) the shower insert attachment to the floor may and the shell may be loose and the drain connection to plumbing may be leaky G) the slides alignment may be racked H) the connections of the water tanks to the frame may be loose or cracked and the associated plumbing connections may be leaky I) the appliances attachment points may be loose J) the pin box, where the fifth wheel attaches to the truck's hitch may be loose K) the riser, where the fifth wheel moves from a lower to a higher level may be racked (often shows damage to the trim and/or the two lower corners of the riser) L) the ladder attachment points loosened M) the roof to shell sides seams and corners may be compromised/cracked from repeated excessive flex N) the roof membrane glued interface may be compromised (especially problematic at leading and trailing edges) O) the roof mounted A/C attachment to the roof may be loosened and/or the water seal leaky/cracked. Depending on how extensive is the damage caused by the excessive flexing, the trailer may be repairable or may be too much to be worth repairing. If the damage is minor or not yet observable, repairs may be in order, plus either A. gusseting the spidered/cracked weld joints (which will make those welds stronger, thus stiffening the frame to give it more strength margin). This is what was done for the trailer that I mentioned in my previous comment. [NOTE1: This may/may not be sufficient to mitigate flexing at the pin box or lower corners of the frame riser.] B. installing a more compliant suspension to reduce the frame flexing. [NOTE2: This reduces flexing everywhere, including at the pin box and lower corners of the frame riser. It's a more expensive but ultimately superior solution to reducing excessive frame flexing.] Some RVer's have already upgraded their suspensions and note a much smoother towing experience, sans the 'earthquakes'. Their trailers will last significantly longer.
@genef1027
@genef1027 3 ай бұрын
2/2 I found two different RVer-implemented suspension upgrades to that end. 1. Full Independent Suspension (IS): An IS is the cat's meow for reducing flexing stress on the frame (and on every other part of the trailer). - MORryde has a sweet IS, though more extensive and expensive in its implementation than the other option. Two videos of the MORryde IS: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/ol7EnWVqfLqkY8k m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqS1ioN4d9iJlbM 2. An upgraded straight axle suspension with Roadmaster Comfort Ride Slipper Leaf Spring System kit. The following video is a 'comparison' of the Comfort Ride Roadmaster kit and the MORryde IS upgraded suspensions: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJbdg3Zro8eVj68 The person in this video thinks the Roadmaster kit upgrade suspension is 'better' for the average large 5th wheel RVer. His basis is that any good RV repair place can get replacement Roadmaster kit parts and install them if there ever is a failure. If the MORryde IS suspension fails, you have to drive the RV to the MORryde factory in Elkhart, IN to have the repair done (or find someone familiar enough with the MORryde IS suspension to tackle a repair on it). A second Comfort Ride Roadmaster kit video is shown here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJfXg4tvr9mGr6ssi=2tDGCVQCCyM0zwzI I hope the Roadmaster will provide enough margin against excessive frame flexing at the pin box and lower corners of the frame riser. I say this because the Roadmaster kit is less expensive to implement and uses off-the-shelf parts. I just don't have the hands-on experience to make that call for large 5th wheel RVs. What is 'good enough' to solve a 'marginal design' issue?

It's crazy the stories that we hear on "Grand Design RV Major Issues" FB page! So many people being outright denied on their legitimate claims. They are being run through the wringer at every turn. As a community, we need to be able to acknowledge that others may not be getting the same treatment as us and that should infuriate us. But, for some, all they care about is themselves.
@GDRVMajorIssues

Just to add to my first reply, the big problem starts with the executive and senior level leadership at Grand Design and Winnebago. Plain and simple, Winnebago allowed this to happen as the parent company and then they extend the Grand Design CEO's employment contract for another 5 years. What a joke! Next is the absolutely horrible production of these RVs! Then, the customer service from the Retail Service Managers (phone and email support - not really managers) and their senior leadership who try to deflect and blame all responsibility back on the customer, treating them so badly that people just want to give up. But maybe that's the intent. The next big problem is once you get a repair appointment, it has been more than clear that the Grand Design Customer Support Center Service Department does not know how to properly fix these already thin compromised frames (less than 3/8" / 0.188" I-beams), proven by the numerous RVs that have had to make return trips for the same repair. This does not include all the other problems that were produced on the factory assembly line. Two of the tactics Grand Design and much of the RV industry uses is DEFLECT & DELAY! They deflect all responsibility back on the customer / owner and when that doesn't work, they delay the repair approval process and appointments to get said repairs. The Grand Design affiliated dealerships work with Grand Design on the DELAY tactic but we see through that and advise people to force Grand Design themselves to do the repairs since these dealerships are not equipped to do these repairs, let alone GD being able to properly fix them.

I’m a Gand Design owner, and I have not been so happy with an rv manufacturer, Ever. It’s the dealership I hate! They sell you a $100,000.00 RV, and refuse to help you after you leave with the RV lot. Yeah, they offer you a warranty, but won’t get you in the shop for 6 months, or you take it in, and doesn’t come out for 8 months! Plus these RVs, are Not Built to live in, and most of us do. 😢 The manufacturer has backed me 100%, with my problems. But sometimes,their hands are tied. I’m having problems with my slide. But is it the manufactures fault, or did the dealership fix it properly, or not? My slide problem is, that the dealership didn’t look to see what caused the slide to pull away in the first place. They fixed the symptom, not the problem. The dealership is going to fix the problem. But they just can’t give free repair or exchange to everyone. If you have taken your rig to the desert, and camped on blm land, you probably had one hell of a ride, down those dirt rocky, bumpy roads. Plus 90% of people with RVs, don’t adhere to the, Cargo Carrying Capacity. Last year, at a Grand Design Rally, we had a guy weighing RVs for them. 98% were over weight. Is that Grand Designs fault? By the way, I’m not an influencer, I just watch KZbin, and am a Grand Design owner. I’m extremely happy with Grand Design, and their service, and customer service. They treat me like family, and they don’t even know my first name.

Just keep in mind that the manufacturer builds the rv on a chassis that can barely sustain the weight of the rv itself. Meaning everything is built to minimal. Why? To keep it as light and as big as possible so it can be towed by a 3500 truck. Look at the cargo capacity of a lot of rv's especially the fifth wheels. 2500lbs max if your lucky. Well now add the water the propane, your food n stuff. So everybody is overweight, shocking! Stop buying these over sized rigs and the manufacturer will stop making them bigger crappier n lighter on a minimal chassis. Who's to blame? the idiots buying these rigs and the manufacturer for making these oversized rigs on a minimally built chassis. Want a big rv, go get it built properly on a chassis that can support the typical cargo weight n pull it with an HDT! 🍻

BAL builds a far better chassis but it costs more because it's built properly, these RV manufacturers all they can think of is profit and cutting costs and to hell with the consumer. If the RV falls apart going down the road and they die, oh well one less customer to complain about the RV quality. Remember that most consumers want an RV not need an Rv so it’s not a must have. For the price you pay and the amount of time most people spend in their Rv you can stay in an expensive hotel and eat at nice restaurants for less! This is my opinion and since I have owned multiple rv ‘s from truck campers, bumper pulls and 5th wheels from back in the early 80’s I am biased. Current model is a 20 yr old 5th wheel. Actually built a lot better than new ones. Not saying it hasn’t had some issues over the years but fortunately for me my brother has a mobile rv repair business and I do a lot of my own repairs and upgrades too.

The KZbinr HBRV has been speaking the truth about the RV industry for the last year and has paid the price. He has been fired from job and black listed for speaking the truth about what’s going on in the industry. This is another dirty tactic by the RV manufactures to silence the critics.

NDAs are not enforceable unless you are higher up in a corporate structure. NDAs for either returned RVs or sexual assault are not enforceable.

I sent a certified four-page front and back letter describing how wrong they are what they should be doing and everything that's wrong with it to funtown and Forest River what song is that I checked funtown and Forest River before I ever bought the RV after I bought the RV and I see that everything is wrong with it and I'm looking for the owner of funtown then I see an article describing that they have a lawsuit against them for selling pieces of shit now this is our this is fun town and Forest River at the same time if I had seen that before I bought my RV I would not have bought the RV but of course I don't see that when I'm looking them both up to see how they are how they are before I buy the RV manufacturer out of RVs bullshit

RV's today are just pure junk. 10 years ago there were good ones out there. They got bought up by the trade bigwigs and shelved because they were too good. They were what people expected. I'll use my own experience with Sunnybrook/Mobile Scout RV as an example. They were purchased by Thor and then shelved, never to be seen or heard from again. Probably the best RV I've ever owned. As for the RV industry today....adios mo-fo's. I'll never buy another.

I really like your pod casts. However, you need to do your homework better. Lippert is privately held. Forest River is privately held. Winnebago & Thor Industries are publically traded.

You're flat out wrong on your 1st assessment. There are several YT'ers that DO NOT have to sensor negative comments and are official ambassadors of the brand.

Depends on the deal and manufacturer. LizAmazing covered this last year so Jacob is mostly correct but some YT’ers have structured deals. Sorry to burst your bubble.

@@dearyvettetn4489 Changing Lanes KZbin channel is a good example. They are definitely brand ambassadors, Grand Design gave them a Solitude to test for a while they were getting their driveway fixed when their Momentum got stuck going up their gravel driveway. They have called out things here and there they didn't like about the Momentum a few years back and Grand Design invited them out to help design the next revision of their floor plans. In fact, the Red White and Blue full paint package on the Momentum is because of Changing Lanes. Let me also add, I personally hate Grand Design. I'm not defending them. They were terrible to their customers at the onset of the frame failure situation. We have a 2023 Ibex and while it hasn't been perfect by any stretch of the imagination, Forest River and Ibex have been good with after purchase support. Maybe a little slow but good.

@@dearyvettetn4489 Changing Lanes for one. Chad and Tara have no issue calling out faults on their Grand Design Momentum. Not only have they been to Grand Design to influence floor plans but the Red, White and Blue full paint package one some Momentums was directly a result of Chad and Tara. They were given a small Solitude from Grand Design to use while their gravel driveway was getting regarded when their Momentum got stuck. So clearly they're brand ambassadors but also willingly to call out issues with their unit. They may not call out as hard as Jacob but they still do it. In contrast, Less Junk More Journey will never say anything bad about their Grand Design unit.
