Over the years, I have made peace with not finishing a book if i am not connecting with it. The days of having to read a book to pass an exam are long gone. A dnf is ok with me and I journal it just the same. When I am in a reading slump, I turn to something like a Claire Keegan. Short but powerful. Helps me out of a slump.

Thank you. I am coming round to that way of thinking - it's the perfectionist in me who gets a bit upset about it though! I haven't heard of Claire Keegan but I will check her out :) x

Grapes of Wrath is such an excellent book. Like you said, I think it's very good at stiring up compassion and understanding for others. I think you should read the Thursday Murder Club afterwards- swap to something a little more light hearted, for a break

It’s absolutely blowing me away and I’m so sad I didn’t get a chance to read it earlier - though I expect that reading it in school as a teen would not have been so impactful. Thursday Murder Club it is! X

Cloud Atlas is a wonder unto itself. I loved the book, but it is not an easy book. After Steinbeck, I would recommend something light. You will need the break before Cloud Atlas.

Ahh, thank you! I will probably go for the Thursday Murder Club book then. I am loving Steinbeck but there’s only so much thinking I can do in a day! :D x
