grew up in west Seattle, graduated from O'dea. Bumbershoot was 4 days long. You could get a 4 day pass for $40. The Sonics were still here, you get get a 5 tickets to the best games for $50. the bus was .75. The only places to get a drink in West Seattle at night in the Junction were New Luck Toy, the first one, where Talaricos is now. Puerta vallarta, Poggies, Corner Pocket and Maharaja. West Seattle used to be car lots!!! at least all along Fauntleroy. Alki beach had breakdancers on cardboard, shit, Seattle used to be B-Boy central. Shout to the BOSS crew. anyways... those were the days.

I think Seattle stopped being truly unique when Almost Live! was cancelled. The show was one of those things that made Seattle different from other big cities because it forced us not to take ourselves seriously.

I missed Seattle until it exploded w/transplants, had a higher cost of living than Chicago & the folks who started running my city turned it into a place I don't recognize. Between skyscrapers & tent cities I guess I'm lucky to have moved when I did. Makes me very 😥 however.
