HOW SHOULD I PHOTOGRAPH USED CARS? - OUR TOP TIPS FOR TAKING CAR ADVERT PHOTOS

Dave is off on his Jungle trek of Columbia. Fingers crossed he actually comes back! In the meantime, James decided to take Josh out on one of his car advert photo shoots. We have been asked about what equipment, settings and ideas we use when taking advert photos, so this is a nice guide for anybody thinking about how they are going to start/change their pictures to get the best impact and results online.

Yeah it’s basically a lay by now. Big gate at the back is never open unless the farmers are in and out of the fields- just an access road these days!

I use a small dehumidifier a bought in Argos to dry out the seats after wet vac. Best thing I ever bought.

Yes. Need help. I’m using a cold air turbo blower in winter. Need get a price sensitive sub £80 dehumidifier. No idea what type buy. I’m cracking 3mm 4x windows drying cars over 2/4 days. Before shut them sealed.

@@flippingcarsrepairs yup !!!! Me too where I hadn’t got the garage used. Winter a problem. I spend 2/3 days concentrating on open windows and turbo air blowers instead one half day in summer and done.

I put a small electric rad in the footwell to dry them out, as you say customers think somethings wrong if windows are steamed up, I prefer to photograph at trade premises as I think it let's people know your a bona fide dealer, not just someone who parks on a junction in the middle of the road, ha, ha, great videos anyway guys.

Hats off lads you did that with the least photogenic lump of metal there 🤣 I'm in the process of trying to find a new photo spot at the moment, mines alright with the trees but also can be very bad for sun glare early and mid day

Haha thanks mate. That’s why I wanted to go out with something dull for this shoot rather than an all singing all dancing Audi or something- to show you can make the adverts ping for the right customer! Definitely worked- car sold in less than 2 weeks 👍🏼 Getting out mid to late afternoon for photos is always best if you can. Also try and find a location that faces somewhere from North to East- helps keep the sun behind the photographer then as it will most likely be south/south west at this time of year.

Do ex-Motability cars arrive with screw holes in the dash & floor from the driver modifications? Or do Motability repair them before trading on? Btw, loving these vlogs👍

Motobility whack the rough as fk stuff through copart Im talking granny with the new mokka borrows it her grandson who does circles drop offs and drive aways then aerosol touches up the dents and filler after he crashes her RAZZER badge special 72 plater and gets arrested 😂

If they've had hoists etc they leave them in some cases but sadly they are left with the holes and damaged Trims etc. Need to be careful with some of the larger cars when buying from Motab as Trims can be expensive as can damaged steering wheels from grips and hand controls etc

Might never happen but taking trade plates out could lead to seizure bud, happend to me in a lay by, plod sent for a wagon.

How is it? With the gate in place and closed this is basically a lay by now- no through traffic besides the farmers who use the fields. We have to cross the road to stand back but we have a clear view around 300 yds if not further in either direction. And we’d never stand in the middle of the road or block traffic.

I can’t see the gate and if it’s on private land it’s fine. Just be careful taking photos with the traffic speeding past !.

Yeah if you look when I’m doing the detail shots you can see the big gate in the back ground. It’s the Seymour Colliery link road, part of the Markham Vale Development. Farmers who use it are generally friendly if we’re in the way and it’s one of the reasons we leave the engine running- so we can move out the way quickly if needs be. And don’t worry, I’ve done my green cross code 😂😂
