We all are aware of the hadith mentioning that backbiting is eating the flesh of your dead brother. It is indeed a severe sin. How can one come back from it? How can one repent for it?
Do not despair of the Mercy of Allah, indeed Allah forgives all sins. Repentance means that you regret your action, make the intention not to do it again and change your behavior. If you can, and there will not be any harmful consequences, you can speak to the person that was the subject of the backbiting. Make du'a for them, and ask forgiveness for the people involved in the backbiting.
Shaykh Waleed Basyouni further answers the question.

Dear Nora, we all go through this. Even when we don't want to, we repeat the same mistakes. Sometimes, we fall into the traps of shaytan again and again without realizing it. But remember that Allah is more merciful to His servants than a mother is to her children. As the verse says "Do not despair in the mercy of Allah", we should always have hope for Allah's mercy and forgiveness. Don't be too hard on yourself as it can make you give up on yourself. Allah does not give up on us. He will keep forgiving you again and again if you repent sincerely and have the determination not to do it again each time. So, keep striving in the way of Allah and keep trying to be better. May Allah accept your repentance and grant you Jannah :)

@@norajeffry7368 It's okay to sin as long as you repent, the problem comes when you dont repent. Allah knows our struggles and how much we are trying. No one is prefect and no one can completely give Allah what he deserves, we are all just trying and Allah appreciates that.

GOOD NEWS 🌸🌸 Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) will forgive our major sins if we say this Dua with the conditions of repentance Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3577 Please make it a habit to recite this Dua in the morning and thrice in the evening أستغفر الله العظيم الذي لا إله إلا هو الحي القيوم وأتوب إليه Astaghfir ullah-al azim alladhi la ilaha illa Huwal-Haiyul-Qayyumu, wa atubu ilaih times I seek the forgiveness of Allah the mighty, there is no true god except Allah, the Ever-Living, the Self- Subsisting, and I turn to Him in repentance) Hadith Our Prophet Muhammed SAWS said who say this his or her sins will be forgiven even if he should have run away from the battlefield (while he was engaged in fighting for the Cause of Allah) There are some conditions for repentance which we need to follow 1. Admit our mistake / sin to Allah(سبحانُه و تعالى) 2. Regret the sin we did 3. Seek Allah (سبحانُه و تعالى ) s forgiveness and repent sincerely back to him (This Dua ) 4. Make a promise to Allah that you ll do your best not to repeat this sin again In case you fail as human Good news once again 🌹 Sincerely follow the above steps and repent again Allah (سبحانُه و تعالى) promised that he will always accept our repentance as long as it is sincere Please copy and spread this message, May Allah(سبحانه و تعالى) reward you for spreading this message

Even if it’s true it still classifies as backbiting.. best to avoid talking about that person in general other wise they may take your good deeds on the day of judgement
