I would have to deal with constant 24/7 messages, back-to-back-to-back emails, crazy texts if I don't respond, having to emotionally hold her hand for hours on the phone. She also likes to say insulting things or extremities to get attention, but I would just ignore her and do my job. Pile 4 - I’ve been married for 17 years. I’m faithful and loyal and the vows are important to me. I’ve also never given up on anything in my life. But we are two different people now and the vibe at home is toxic especially for the children. I’ve backed off a lot. I’m no longer giving my energy. 2- I didn’t know who this would be about. But it was incredibly insightful. I’m a single parent of a young adult with high functioning autism. I love her beyond anything but it’s been a hard road. Back here a year later asking about another person. Pile 4 - He definitely spent every second of his life attacking me in terms of making me the scapegoat. Anyone who came into the family he made out that whatever I did was bad and I should therefore be ignored. And it worked on everyone who entered the family. I couldn't do anything to stop it. I just completely keep to myself. They complain about that too. But they made me the black sheep, yet when I chose myself they still complained about that. But I still stay on the side and avoid him. Pile 3 - this person who I barely spoke to once, started asking intrusive personal questions of me in front of our other colleagues, I answered and she started giving me unsolicited advice - basically negating all of my life choices and asking me to do the opposite of what I planned (in my mind, I didn't share it with her). I got worked up a bit, but I like the advice spirit here has given - don't get sucked into their energy, focus on my plans and 'think things through for myself' (which is kinda funny - because this woman kept hammering 'don't overthink! don't overthink! don't think too much' and I see the result that is her life and I thought to myself, I probably should do the opposite because I don't want to end up like her) Had she been demanding about work, I would not have been so mad. But the audacity to impose the role of life coach on someone you barely know - grrrr But you're right, this job requires that I play nice with other colleagues. It's a seasonal part-time job, so I am not always scheduled with her. My plan is that next time I had to be in close proximity to her by force I will just excuse myself from any conversation she tries to initiate. Just staying away that's all. I'm lucky she's not a family member, roommate or permanent job colleague where I got to spend 8 hours a day.
