At first i thought @African Nyako is an Acholi girl(anyaka). I'm Acholi of S Sudan and i can bet she's speaking my own language, even the names she mentioned, the likes of Achan, Opio, Akongo, Achiro etc Also the great great grandfather of President Barack Obama is called Opio.

Nuer language is naturally not close to Luo. The Nuer are neighbouring Anuak tribe which are Luos. The Nuers historically have assimilated a lot of Luo(Anuak) which they also adopted some Luo culture and language. Nuer language is at its purest the more it’s similar to Dinka. Those Luo words in Nuer language are all borrowed
