Hi, would you be able to share what rectifications HDB have done with regards to the hollow tiles and the other defects? How were they rectified? There are many vids on youtube about bto checks, but havent seen one where someone talked about how the issues were rectified.

Hollow tiles- BSC will remove the old tile and install a new tile. Sometimes homeowners may get a different color toned new tile because tiles are produced in batches. That would not be ideal, but the hollowness problem is fixed.

How issues were rectified - BSC will take 14 working days or longer to fix up all your issues reported. During these 14 days, the BSC workers would come and go into your flat as and when they are scheduled internally. They would not inform homeowners every single time they go over. Hence it’s hard to catch them physically repairing your flat, unless you are already living in the flat and just wait for their arrival to your unit every few days. Usually homeowners return to their BTO flat after 14 days to see that the damages have been fixed/unfixed (end product), rather than catching the repair works in between.

Hi, May i know why the needs for defect check if you are going to do renovation anyway? I mean they going to tear down the tile and replace with the new tiles of your choice.

We didn’t know we were going to spend extra $3k to change kitchen tiles until we went to the tile showroom and found a tile design that fits our kitchen design very well. At first we wanted to keep as many HDB fittings as possible to save money.. But couldn’t resist the terrazzooo in the end😬

🙏 I think our 4 room unit is better built than some neighbours' because we don't have major defects like water seepage through the walls or structural damages in our flat. However, we have a lot of smaller defects as you saw from the video. BSC rectified everything for us already.

Tbh, I'm shocked to see the bad quality of HDB work nowadays, showing in so many defects you have. Never imagine this if you don't engage the professional service. Wish this doesn't reflect majority of the flats they are building, although I suspect there are many of flats experiencing same bad quality.

I know 🥲. The defects in my flat are mostly fixed. Although the process was long. We had to keep chasing BSC again and again many times before they would agree that those are defects and finally send people up to our place to fix them. Quite tiring to chase and send in the same reports on the website repeatedly.

I think this is only useful for first time homeowners cuz by second home you kinda know what to do already unless its a different home like condo or landed house
