I like the fact that you have a bass or baritone voice. Harry Styles is a tenor 2 for reference along with most male performances. To your vocal teacher part, the second was the normal healthy singing voice. And you’re just too pretty to have that deep of a voice. You should have just used The National Athem or Church Hymms. Especially if your goal is to find YOUR voice.

I also had to listen and learn bout the arabic micro-tonal scale which is comprised of 24 notes in music theory. idk where you heard humans can't at all, we most definitely can you just have to train yourself. its like how there's indigenous groups that can see more shades of green and blue in new zealand because they have two snake species and they are just slightly differently coloured enough that they had to evolve to notice the shade difference. artists are also usually good at this because they constntly are surrounded by colours and mixing bit by bit changing shades ever so slightly, trining our brains to see colours a little better than average people.

You have two things either of which MOST people do not. Tenacity and compassion. Simply don't stop. I am here to tell you I walked this very path and as you continue to experiment with real, consistent application (as you've already demonstrated), that little bumble bee vibrato in your super rich basso voice will get stronger and stronger, more and more relaxed until you can say and feel whatever you want while singing and you WILL SEND people. Firstly: the idea of showing the process is AMAZING. Usually people let others see only their "best versions" and it's so good to see it all. Secondly: my main thought is that maybe I don't hear a spectacular change in your voice (it doesn't mean I don't hear any change at all), but I definitely see how singing just became easier for you. You don't have so much struggle on your face as in the beginning, your body seems more relaxed. The notes that on the first videos seemed to even hurt you, on the last ones look just natural. At the same time, there is SOME change in your voice, for better of course - and that shows perfectly how sometimes we just need to learn "trying less" and relaxing to do something better 👏

Ok here's my advice if you are expanding your journey beyond this. You should feel 0 tension in the neck and jaw, if you do feel tension that means that you might be doing it wrong. Singing should literally feel easy, yes getting to that level requires practice but don't trade off your technique at the moment in order to sound good. That isn't going to fix the main problem. I notice that your voice is very soft and these songs that you are learning use a technique that people in the contemporary singing world refer to as belting. In order to belt first push all your air out in like a Ha sound you should feel your core at work while doing this. It doesn't mean push all your air out to get the sound out, it just means getting used to having that extra support. Without support the belting may result into a lot of tension that can lead to a voice crack. Now belting is loud, it may sound like you are screaming at first but all that I would define belting as is like a controlled scream. Try it in the high parts like in golden hour "I don't need no light to see you shine." I heard in the comments somebody said work on your pronunciation, in singing this is referred to as diction. It's really a simple fix, just have all of the consonants overly pronounced at first like the T and K sounds, think of a beatboxer. Then when you sing it should naturally fall into place, if it doesn't try reducing it in the session yourself. Like try pronouncing a really hard K doing and gradually reduce it till it sounds right. For breathing, this is honestly still to this day the hardest part of singing because it all begins with the breath. Honestly I've never heard of the bubble exercise but start with a metronome, place it at a time where it is suitable I normally prefer 70 bpm. Start with inhaling for 4 counts and exalling for 8, keep increasing and doubling the amount I typically just play with the numbers on the spot. This is supposed to also help the control and using your breath more efficiently. I loved seeing your progress and I would love to hear your voice further in the future.
@bsidewavy Жыл бұрын
Ahhh unfortunately I do feel tension in my neck or back of head mostly. Part of me thinks it’s because of my poor posture habits from using my computer & as well as poor technique. I do daily updates on youtube shorts and I’m making a 100 day update video soon. Thanks for the advice I’ll be sure to experiment with it! Really curious to see if I can learn how to belt
@kingquesoIV Жыл бұрын
@@bsidewavy I also noticed you barely open your mouth and are really struggling achieve a resonate sound because of this. You should look up videos on improving resonance and mouth shapes for singing. Typically there will be a nicer sound with a more open throat and mouth, and then you can change the mouth shape to match the vowels.
@caspergotlost Жыл бұрын
Try looking at artists like James Blunt that have softer songs without belting - it might help you feel less pressure to do things that engage that tension, and you'll be able to practice other techniques

Such an amazing transformation!! Honestly I think your natural relaxed voice already sounds really good, once you're able to hit notes accurately without thinking you're gonna kill it!! Love your confidence! Kudos to putting yourself out there. I just started training with an accomplished opera singer these last few months after beating my head against a wall for years and my voice has grown tremendously. Can't recommend enough having a great vocal coach if you're able to afford one. The improvement I see with a coach versus without one is a massive difference for me personally. (I've trained with numerous vocal coaches, but for whatever reason everything is finally clicking with this latest instructor who also just happens to be an internationally acclaimed opera singer and one of the greatest overall musicians I have ever worked with in my life.) I'm singing C#5's now in full voice which I never thought I would be able to do. One thing I would recommend that my instructor is emphasizing in our lessons that I feel like I see you doing throughout this video is focusing too much on "how you sound" versus shaping your entire body into an instrument for singing. Vowel positions, jaw placement, posture, position of the larynx, coordination of the onset, whether or not you're engaging in proper breath support, etc. are fundamental to producing pleasing tones. The more you focus on how you sound at the expense of how you are generating sound, the more your overall sound may suffer unless you're simply getting lucky. Can be really easy for us as creatives in general to rely on luck or "inspiration" but we don't want to rely on inspiration, we want to rely on technique. Then if inspiration comes to dance alongside our technical foundation we are all the more blessed by the muses of music. Anyways, I'm sure you're receiving a lot of advice that may or may not contradict itself (best of luck in reconciling all of it - it's a process and your journey and particular instrument is uniquely your own to navigate) but thought I would throw my two cents in as another developing singer. Subscribed and looking forward to witnessing your unfolding process!

That’s sweet to hear and I’m excited since I’m getting my first vocal lessons soon. Hoping to experience something similar to you! I loved this. As someone who’s self taught in everything, there’s so much value in finding your way thru feeling. The breath control will come, it was the last thing for me and it changed everything. Isn’t it so rewarding when something just clicks?! I found more breath control when I started singing every note with “na na na” because you can feel the closeness of your vocal cords, it also helped me actually looking at a picture of what the vocal cords look like to see how they’re supposed to be closed, which will add richness to your tone, reduce the air coming out with each note, and allow you to sing longer without gasping for more air. Any air you’re not dedicating to sound should be kept back. I’m absolutely no expert so if anything I said is wrong anybody can feel free to correct me. I just know sometimes it’s helpful to hear things stated in a non-professional way because when you’re not trained the formal terms don’t help as much as the feeling and the way someone explains something is everything. Only you can apply those explanations with your own mind-body connection. I was pushing way too hard, trying to bubble out to top or my stomach for a while because I saw it in some video, breathing from my feet for a while because I saw it in some video, and none of that worked for me as much as thinking about expanding my mid to lower back when breathing, and thinking about all my sound coming from my solar plexus. My point is everyone is different and everyone will give you their advice, but do what works for you, and build on every “click” you achieve. ❤

Equalizing the mouth space for every vowel will help you tremendously. As a voice teacher id say your voice is " too far back", meaning its not resonating in the mask . Just stumbled across your channel for the first time, and I'm not sure why you showed up on my feed, but I'm very glad you did! As someone with a deviated septum who was always teased for my voice by my peers, by strangers on the internet, and even one of my teachers in elementary school who plugged her nose to mock me in front of the class, I just never had the confidence to sing in front of strangers. Watching you practice, make mistakes, and then surprise yourself when you hit some nice notes was awesome to watch. I could never be this vulnerable in front of a camera, and you really improved SO much in just a short time. Amazing job brother.

This is actually so cool to see, i sing so much at home i forgot what the progress was like. Some tips that helped me were humming something before and copying the throat positions and breaking down runs

This video was so inspiring. It's so encouraging to see you improve in just 30 days. I used to practice every day when I had a more relaxed job but since starting a very intense one 2 years ago I kind of stopped more practice and felt very discouraged at how much range and skill I'd lost. You've encouraged me not to give up and to start recording myself every day no matter how bad I think it is. Thanks ^__^

Damn dude that progress is crazy! You’ve motivated me to start learning to sing myself :) I love singing so much and vocals are some of the most beautiful music to my ears but I never dare to sing myself bc i find my voice so ugly… But if one can make so much progress in a single month I think I might just find the courage to go at it. Cheers to you!
@jamiehamilton675 Жыл бұрын
Actually really impressed with your vocals. You absolutely have the voice, control is really all you need to focus on. You nailed it on Adore You. That song really fits your voice well. You're also really brave for putting yourself out there. I'm one of those people who actually can sing decently. I definitely have no voice to be trying out for American Idol or anything but was in honors choir in grade school yet still won't sing in front of other people unless of course, when I was an in a group where no one could pull out my voice from the others lol. Trying out for honors choir, in front of just my choir teacher was hard enough. Trying out for solos just didn't happen lol even in my 30s, get me in a car by myself or singing when no one else is home, I may not sound like a superstar but I rock it like I am but if anyone is around I don't sing lol. I've been through a hella lot in my life as a disabled person with a rare disease so I don't get embarrassed easily. With my medical history, if I go to the hospital or a doctor's appointment and have to take off my clothes for whatever reason, I can rip those babies off faster than a stripper. I can talk about my bowel movements in great detail and as easily as if I were talking about the weather or something. When I was paralyzed I had to be totally re-potty trained. Although that's probably the most humiliating experience of my life and took 8 months, by about month three, I got to a point where I could crack a joke at my own expense about peeing the bed as an adult, buy a plastic bed cover, and Depends at the store as easily as I could buy a gallon of milk and could tell the medical staff ” Better your bed than mine” lol. With that.being said, I'm still extremely uncomfortable singing in front of someone and you sang in front of god knows how many someone's. So, voice aside, I have to give you a lot of credit for that. You have the voice and that's the biggest and most important part. Some say everyone can sing. I'll be brutally honest. I was a sign language interpreting major and I know some Deaf individuals, one in particular who was born totally deaf and had never heard a sound in his life but was born to a very musically inclined family and learned to play the drums and sing by feeling family members throats and trying to match the vibrations. I also know hearing individuals who can sing nowhere near as well as some of these Deaf individuals. Not saying their a lost cause but some of them can hear perfectly fine yet sound like a cat giving birth while being attacked by another animal lol. You have a good voice and some control so have a lot of potential and obviously don't have a deathly fear of singing in front of others so give yourself credit where credit is deserved. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Thanks for the comment :) well singing in front of a camera for me is different that in front of people. Have never performed before and that will surely be nerve racking haha.

you improved SO MUCH! the one thing id suggest is practicing hard enunciation. in certain parts you would sorta trail off on a word or not enunciaate and it would add alot if you did that! 12:40 - 12:50 is a good example of that. you did so well!

Dude the moments of laughing at yourself are soooo relatable 😂 like it’s hard to take the technique practices seriously sometimes cause they sound so goofy but then when I actually hit a note that I couldn’t before I’m like 👀 so that’s what that does Edit: you have a new subscriber by the way 💛 your vibes are so lovely :,)

Amazing progress! I would recommend that you look into things like breath support (diaphragmatic breathing) and vowel placement, while also being open to new things! It seems like you've already been exposed to the weird side of singing, though those weird things work which is the best thing about it lol. New York vocal coaching is a really good singing resource, though I would recommend trying to find a credible vocal coach to really help you boost your skills. Keep up the good work and stay conscious of when you need to take a break.

One piece of advice I’d give from this video is song choice. Most male pop songs are in the tenor register but it sounds like you’re below that. I would try and find your natural register and pick your song choice from there. Well done that’s some great progress.

I must say, you are amazing for doing this, I am also a beginner at 20 I’ve started taking singing classes and I improved a lot since then. I’ve also started piano lessons a few days ago. It’s never too late we will be amazing! I wouldn’t have sung golden hour as my first song because it’s too difficult 😂 but my very first homework song that my teacher gave me was the joker and the queen by ed Sheeran. It was an amazing first song What she taught me was to practice with BR NI NE NA NO NU ng (basically you stick the top part of your tongue to your palate and you need to do a very light sound” This improved my voice a lot Try to put you voice more forward it’s gonna sound better Your voice is amazing anyway, very warm !

So awesome to see this whole process!! KEEP SINGING!!! I think it's the best hobby. I may be biased, but it's so freeing I think you'll see better results when you relax on some days and not focus as much on tech! I also think that enunciation will help your overall sound a lot. Very good progress! One aspect that I think will really help you is tone color or "placement". You often sing with a dark tone color that is somewhat "swallowed" and far back in the throat. You can "place" your tone more forward towards your nasal cavity which creates a brighter tone. You should try singing with nasalty to get the feeling, or try singing on the voiced consonants "m" "n" or "ng". I thought your tone was the best the times that I heard it go brighter

Singing is a skill, some develop it naturally early on while others need time/practice to get there. The more you do it the better you will get at it
