i think another rebuttal against luffy being the enemy of the gods while being a god himself is the parallel between gan fall and enel. both have the title of god, but gan fall truly cares about the citizens of the sky. i think this goes to show that gods aren’t a bad thing, it’s what is done with the title. we see these same ideas in almost every arc that contrasts kings as well i.e dressrosa or drum island

That isn't my favorite arc, but I always loved it since the beginning. While later I also kinda realized that skypea is basically op story in a nutshell (which make me love it even more), the main reason is because that arc is the core of one piece. Adventure, Dreams, exploring and not knowing that the heck will happen but still going forward. People joke about this because Oda loves to stretch plot points out, but don't dismiss it completly. We do know that oda already mention that the straw hats will be in a very bleak place once Wano reaches the ending. So what could that mean? You have to ask your self that. Some fans speculate oh yeah its probably just kaido or big mom defeating them completly and visa versa but i disagree. I think its going to be far more impactful then that and introduced an element in the story that will drive it towards its end. For example the Gorusei could make a drastic move or Rocks could enter the scene and change the whole tide of the conflict, etc.

@@rahulsambyal6583 most pre time skip arcs ended in a way better way, alabasta luffy made an earthquake by punching crocodile so hard, Jaya luffy turned into one punch man, sabaody was the beginning of Vietnam for luffy and the downfall of the straw hats, marine ford is self explanatory, obviously enies lobby, arlong park luffy kicked arlong through multiple floors destroying an entire complex, Baratie (probably not how you spell it) we got the only emotional parting from a straw hat to the people they knew before. Those are the only ones I remember but there’s probably more, my point is nothing was special about skypiea except the adventure vibe it was really boring for the most part.

But in finnish translation the choise of words is different: "Merirosvokuningas? Mitäs se sellainen hallitsee?" - "Pirate King? What does that rules over?" To which Luffy answers "Kaikkia maailman meriä", in english "All the seas in the world". That choise of words just makes it so much cooler, that Luffy even more clearly claims to Enel that he as a Pirate King will rule not only Blue Sea, but also this mystical White Sea up in the sky, where Enel claims to be a God.

I honestly think "The enemy of God" thing continues a theme One Piece has with deception. Ace curses himself for having the blood of a devil and yet Gold Roger was a great man. Oden's remembered as being a fool that danced on the streets for money and yet behind the curtains he did that to protect the people he loves. Noland died and was remembered as a liar yet everything he said turned to be true. One Piece continually tells you things only to show you the opposite. So "the enemy of God" really seems intentionally ironic.

@Radionife Idk about that. Oda seems to be using the same formula he did with Alabasta. Luffy gets defeated multiple times by the villain (crocodile and Kaido), but then defeats them when things are at its worst (bomb about to blow and onigashima about to fall down). So my bet is that the next time Luffy fights Kaido he will defeat him, but onigashima will still fall since it’s been implied multiple times by Oda that the cycle needs to be destroyed or reset in order for a country to rebuild. So no, the raid will not end in failure, although I do think onigashima will still fall down.

In fact the emotional stakes are even more similar to Alabasta since both are about liberating their countries from a tyrannical ruler. I mean I can keep going with the similarities: Luffy brings rain to Alabasta vs Luffy bringing food to the starving citizens in Wano + opening its borders. The scabbards, Momo and the country itself (maybe Yamato will join in the emotional bandwagon with a flashback) are pretty much the emotional core of this arc, and I think it's a pretty good one honestly, since I didn't really care about them until this arc but now Kanjuro's betrayal or Kinemon's sacrifice really had a huge impact. Anyways I don't think it'll fail, but this arc is still far from finished, much is still to come during the raid.

one thing i love about the end of skypiea is when luffy destroys the raigou. not only does he bring the sun, but the gold ball on luffy’s hand literally makes him look like the sun coming through the clouds. i think that towards the end of the story that scene is going to be paralleled in someway. it’s one of the most potent visual metaphors in the story imo

it's a borrowed analysis but It's suppose to be like kinda comedy breather arc before the next saga since that was a roller coaster. The long ring long land was short in the manga but stretched in the anime, no pun intended.

Many people believe the arc to be the setup for another Davy back fight in the future. Since it would be a friendly way for the Strawhats to fight Shanks' crew. However that does beg the question why Oda felt the need to make an entire arc about it, which felt like a filler (especially in the anime). The way Oda writes arcs is that he plants some kind of theme/message in an arc that is important to the entire story of One Piece. Even seemingly useless chapters like the Gaimon story can be juxtaposed to the overarching story. (Dedicating your life to finding a treasure, Luffy being the one to reach it etc). But I don't know if Long Ring Long Island has any major theme like that if I am being totally honest lmao. That's why we have Morj to make sense of this all.

I think this "conected land" it's more important than it looks. Think with me: we have a lot of elements telling us that conecting islands is good. water 7 and the sea train and the giant bridge are attempts of that. we had a giant (Oars) that was know for literraly moving islands. Wano is an island made of a lot of island, that was bring together by someone. This thing in skypea. My theory is that the one piece will not connect just all the seas, but connect, literally, all the islands. that part of marijoa is called Pangea, isn't it? so, they will create a literal pangea. And skypea it's more important because show us that the moon (or moons) have, or had, life in it. what start to make sense why Roger said that they was to early. why something have to be done in a specific time? astronomy! the one piece, the machine that will connect all the island in a giang pangea is in one moon! and this moon have to be in a specific place to work, something that only happen each 800 years! to bring all island together, they have to destroy the red line, to the island can pass to the other side, and by doing it, they will create the all blue! probably wano was the start of the process of bring all island together, that's why it's made of a lot of islands and that's why it's a special place, it's the center of the new world! Skypea was about an island that was separeted of where it was. the one piece will be the other way arround, will bring the island together.

Actually Nika is a reference to the Hatchetman from Psychopathic Records. And what is Psychopathic Records known for? Insane Clown Posse. And ICP is known for their clown makeup. Nika is supposed to bring smiles to people and to always be smiling, who else makes people happy? Clowns. Caesar Clown created Smiles, but he is a misdirection, an easy to fall for, he is not Joy Boy. Oda planted another happy Clown, a fan of parties, a man who is always smiling, and always brings happyness to the readers when he appears. That's right, Buggy D Clown is Nika the sun god, and Joy Boy. And the reason why Roger couldn't finish his quest at Laugh Tale? It was because he was too early, because Buggy fell ill due to his lack of clown experience, back then he just had the nose. And it would take another 20 years for Buggy D Clown to grown his clown powers, to expand his circus, to get his own clown crew, his... Insane Clown Posse! And become the Hatchetman AKA Nika the sun God, and save the world.

This is why I get annoyed by people saying that Blackbeard 100% needs to be the final villain in the story and that IMU who was only introduced recently wouldn't that much impact. Yes Blackbeard can be the final villain of the story but the world government, the dystopian system of the celestial dragons, the long 800 years of darkness and oppression, the false gods of the one piece world that serve as it's dictators, they have all been build up for just as long as he has. It's not a last minute addition, in fact IMU's seems to serves one purpose in my eyes, to give a face for Luffy to punch, the concept and the idea has been there all along, so no, the world government will not be dealt with off screen by Blackbeard or dragon, regardless of who you think the final villain is going to be, you can be sure that Oda will give both BB and the WG their time to shine. And just as a little extra hehe, i personally think BB Will be Luffy's most personal opponent, but he will be dealt with before Luffy becomes pirate king, and after that, it'll be the war against the WG. That's bcause Luffy's last accomplishment in the story needs to be bringing the dawn of the world, and the entity that has caused this era of darkness is the world government, not Blackbeard, defeating him wouldn't fix anything, it would only stop a worse calamity from happening, but that isn't enough, it wasn't for Roger with rocks, and it won't be for Luffy.
