How smart is a ferret?

Today I got this "rabbit toy" from a friend. How long will it take before the ferrets understands how it works? Well... Actually... It took Yuki only 5 seconds, he found it out before I could turn on the camera...

My daughters ferrets are as smart as dogs and smarter than cats. She has 2 and they are polar opposite. One is very busy the other is laid back. Literally all he does is lay on his back and ask for belly rubs. She leaves them in a room with an open cage. She had to because the lazy one kept escaping. He bends the cage , bites thru chicken wire , you name it he has beat it. They use litter box and sleep in drawers and duffle bags full of rags. Wonderful animals. Not for everyone but I love em.

As far as ferrets go, this is elementary. Ferrets can and will figure out anything to satisfy their curiosity. Their intelligence can give them praise and in get them in trouble. You have to watch these little sneaky monkeys carefully...
