In my own personal opinion the Leader is one very underrated Marvel character and super villain who deserves to be included within the list of not just most intelligent supervillains but most intelligence characters as well.

Great topic! If I were a KZbin creator, this is probably one of the first topics I would have tackled, myself. Indeed, I do believe that the Leader should be assumed to be as smart as the Hulk is strong. The problem with that is, as you point out... the writers. Not so much writer INTENT, really (although that is a factor that's always at play), but the fact that, in order to write a super-genius character (like, say, Sherlock Holmes) with any degree of believability, the writer also has to be a genius (or, at least, somewhat smarter than whoever is reading the story), or at least be able to fake it convincingly. How does one get around that? I'm not sure, but I sure am looking forward to how the Leader is going to be portrayed in upcoming issues of The Immortal Hulk! That whole end-of-the-universe set-up was sufficiently cosmic and messed up to make me hold out hope that we might be about to see the greatest Leader story arc ever produced for Marvel Comics!

I think the biggest problem with this character is that they don't know what to do with him outside of Hulk's solo comics. Everything about him is kinda covered by other villains, the mastermind type, so the greater Marvel stage is pretty well covered. That seems to be a continuous thing with most Hulk villains as the only ones to really get further recognition are Rulk and Abomination.

I most definitely agree with you. The Leader is written underrated. Which is a shame. A character like him should be pushed too marvel's biggest threat level. Mental abilities more powerful than Prof. Xavier. The Leader should be above or about equal to Victor Von Doom ( Doctor Doom) intelligence in all science and technology, engineering, inventions, biology & chemistry subject matter with an empowered brain like his it should be possible. Marvel needs a new face of Evil Genius. That's my opinion.

My headcannon for why he isn't up their with other super intelligent characters is that while his brain is physically impressive, and he has the capacity for insane intellect and etc. He lacks the natural intuition and creativity that the other geniuses have. Like he has a super athletic and powerful body but doesn't know any fighting moves. Does that make sense? It's hard to explain.

Yes, The Leader is indeed underrated, he cheats death every chance he gets and that ALONE should be respected!... But I want to explain The Rhino. The reason The Rhino can fight Spider-Man AND The Hulk on equal ground, is because The Rhino cannot keep up with Spider-Man's vastly superior agility and cunning. (At one point, Spidey had to use a special type of web fluid to destroy The Rhino's costume just to take away his powers because it was the ONLY way to stop him!) The Rhino has ALSO gone through a considerable POWER CREEP over the years, once upon a time, he was able to lift around 30 TONS but THESE days he can lift at least 80 TONS! He also has a rather large and durable horn on his head that even The Hulk does NOT look forward to getting slammed with! So if you're wondering why The Rhino seems all over the place, I think that is the reason.

True, in fact, I think the only reason people keep forgetting how smart those two are is because M.O.D.O.K. and The Leader share the same problem: They BOTH overestimate themselves and let their personality flaws get the better of them! The Leader keeps underestimating The Hulk and M.O.D.O.K. is obsessed with convincing the world AND himself that he is vastly superior to the much more heroic Captain America!
