Is kinda weird because for years skuttlebutt was never gendered, it was just an AI ship, the only time it was gendered was outside canon in cartoons like Super Hero Squad and Avengers Earth Mighthiest Heroes, in which it has a male voice, which is why the desicion of making Scutt a she took me by surprize.

I'm told that he wasn't just surgically altered... his consciousness was transferred into an alien body which was then upgraded with cybernetics and the like. So in that sense, 'undoing' it would require his original (now dead and destroyed) body, making it more than a matter of mere surgery. Like with the anthropomorphized ship, if Sif had genuinely liked him enough for who he was rather than how he looked, she could've been more creative with how they could've interacted. If she wasn't at least somewhat interested in his form at the time, why'd she bring him back to her place to try at all? Like insulting a guy for ED, she unnecessarily wounded what pride he may have had and then let him leave without telling him she didn't mean it like that. I get it for the sake of further character development based on suffering, but I still think the inaction after that mistake to be cruel on her part.

I think it’s worth noting that the movie Bill watches is “Hook” with Robin Williams playing an older Peter Pan who gave up his infinite youth, the thing Peter desires most, to be with the woman he fell in love with and grow old with her. It’s a story about Pan accepting first the inevitable, and then later as he returns to Neverland, accepting who he really is, even if he’s older, greyer, he’s still always Peter Pan.

I think a lot of people my age were introduced to Beta Ray Bill thanks to the Planet Hulk movie, and those few minutes of screentime he had was enough to captivate me. Out of all the people that have wielded Thor's hanmer, Bill has to be the one character that's the most worthy in terms of story, personality, and struggles.

I love that despite the "beauty is inside not outside" lesson still being called Valid, Bill ALSO is allowed to still be legitimate in caring about having a body that conforms to how he sees himself, still has a right to try and make that outer beauty mesh with the inner beauty. I never would’ve thought I could fall in love with a marvel character in the span of 20 minutes. Beta Ray Bill seems like such a sweet and light hearted character with so much trauma and burden to carry with him, and yet he persevered and does what’s right for both himself and for the good of the universe. No wonder he could wield mjolnir the first time he met Thor, he’d already endured so much and was still out to do good regardless. At this point in the MCU, I think this would be the perfect opportunity to introduce Beta Ray Bill for the next Thor movie considering that he’s already been shown to exist from his statue on Sakaar. Both him and MCU Thor have endured so much on their own, losing loved ones and suffering great failures (Beta Ray Bill with Surtur and Thor with Thanos) I can easily see the two of them bonding and becoming sort of brothers in arms. There could even be a bit of a rivalry built between them throughout the movie that leads to a big confrontation at the end. I’d love to see some form of mainstream introduction for Beta Ray Bill, his story is so easily engaging and really dang good to watch and read. Marvel really deserves a big win and Beta Ray Bill would be that big win.

I recall seeing the reveal of Bill's true form in the pages of Simonson's run on Thor and feeling disappointed by how unremarkable it looked compared to his horse form. Seeing how much that appearance means to him after he lost the ability to change does at least help me appreciate the storytelling potential the twist ended up leading to in the future.

I agree, Beta Ray Bill has such a unique design for an alien that his race looking so bland and uninspired fell really flat for me, even for this storyline where he the point is that he looks ugly loses points because his humanoid form also looks ugly. My only guess is that Sif is big on kissing I guess? I much would have rather preferred if his race looked similar to his normal form but because he was around Asgardians for so long he grew self conscious about his normal looks while his hammer let him change to look more like an Asgardian mixed with his race, instead of a thin boyish voldamort.

Great video! Daniel Warren Johnson is one of my favorite comic creators along time and his work with Matt Spicer is 🔥🔥🔥. Like I genuinely feel like he has made non wrestling fans love the art of it because of how AWESOME the supplexes & wrestling moves are. I’m not a wrestling guy but I love when he incorporates his love for the art form in his comics. As a writer myself he’s the first writer I’ve seen that gets what I want to do with my work. At 21:30 that is Piup the Troll armed with an M41A Pulse Rifle, used by the Colonial Marines in the movie Aliens, as well as various video games and such ever since. HELL YEAH! Common classic comic trope to have stuff like that pop up by the artist(s) from time to time. ...I'm very glad I watched this. I recently bought a 'Thor and The Warriors Four' Power Pack comic from the 'All Ages' series---and one of them has Beta Ray Bill in it. I'll admit though, outwardly, I didn't care much for what I thought was just a strange, horse-faced Thor clone. After all, I was there for Power Pack...But _now_ I feel like I really know and appreciate Bill. My lingering worry though is that the Power Pack comic I bought won't do him nearly enough justice like what I just watched of his trials in this video. But we'll see. Great video and here's to more like it!

Daniel Warren Johnson might be the most manga-influenced artist who does work for the Big Two. Instead of copying surface stuff like big eyes or completely misunderstanding the assignment to do faux anime shading, he learned how they portrayed motion and impact to deliver big, meaty hits. The craziest part is the publishers actually let him do that kind of paneling. They usually pace things so badly, even Japanese artists they hire don't get to put in their usual attention to action.

Loved this story. I think we have similar tastes because I too love the art and the art is what gets my attention. I really wanted the story to continue. This was a great limited series.

I'm making my own comic book now, it's called ,,The Alternate'' also probably the name of the city (maybe, I'm still working on the names), comic is about a guy named Cloud (superhero name: HtwoO or idk, Droplet, give me some ideas maybe?) that lives in a steampunk world and he controls steam (and water but water is too heavy for him to lift) and he can turn the steam into water (hence the Droplet) or ice and vice versa, and after he gets beaten up too much one time he builds himself a weapon like Shredder from TMNT and his design is a bit like Dr. Doom because of the cloak and his metal mask, his backstory is gonna be a mystery for some time but it's gonna be revealed that he was kidnapped by his ,,mom'' whom he kills after she gets possessed and corners him, she gets possessed by a demon that gave him powers after his real parents did a ritual (they were in a cult cuz why not it's my comic book but you all can give me suggestions) when he was a baby. Oh yeah, also his archenemies is pipe man and he controls metal but he doesn't know that yet cuz the first thing he gets close to him is a pipe and because he is uncreative (hence the name), plays it safe always and always has a mindset of ,,the first thing that works is the only thing that works'' he never knows (at least in the beginning) that he controls all of the metal.

Even though this story made good use of it, I think the whole "normal Korbinite" thing is a little convoluted and unnecessary, if I were adapting him I'd just make his entire species look like him by default.

It's also just kinda lame. In my opinion, aliens should *look* like aliens, not just humans but kinda weird. BRB having the horse face is way more interesting than just... an orange, noseless human

@@liamball4643the “ normal” design to me looks worse even its just bland and doesnt even emphasize the “human vs monster” looks trope. like horse face just looks like someone of an alien race that would look like that. visually and story wise it doesnt even make sense that Sif would care that much if he went from horse face BRB to noseless BRB because shes still closer to what an earth human would look like. like i dont buy someone being against a slightly weirder looking alien but having the hots for someone who is still orange and noseless in the same breath. it would make more sense if he started off looking like an earth humanoid for that dramatic change in her preference or if all the aliens of his race had a horse face like that and he wanted to change appearance to look more like an actual human or something. i think this plot doesnt make sense

Thor would never betray Beta Ray Bill and Beta Ray Bill would never become envious, they would never treat each other the way they did, Sif would never treat Beta Ray Bill that way.

Thanks for this. I now know something about Beta Ray Bill. When I was a kid, I thought he was a villain of Thor and a copycat, but my cousins said he was a superhero. Growing up watching Marvel and reading comics, I never came across some background stories of Bill. I really appreciate your video.
