Hey guys, hope all is well, today I'm going to do my best and explain how a solar quartz watch works. Have a great weekend.

Excellent video Wes, on the vibration question, the microprocessor is actually counting the 32,768 vibrations and on the last vibration moves the gear wheel via the stepping motor to advance the hand 1 second, in fact when you see a high beat quartz, the processor is counting 8,192 vibrations before moving the hand, then you have 4 beats per second and it looks like a mechanical movement. Theoretically you can get it to move every vibration for a springdrive like movement but the heat generated would probably melt the watch parts! There are new innovations of course, like using the crystal as, a time regulator on a true mechanical movement as on the springdrive and there is even research into using the milliseconds vibrations which is 786,000 pulses per second. There is something like 23,980 millisecond vibrations for every main vibration of the 32,768! I remember most of this from college years ago!

Great video but you got lost in the mechanical side of how solar works the signal is a pulse that is then transferred to the gears for analogue and to the CPU for the screens, if you want your head to spin think about how the spring drive works lol.

I hate it. Citizen should've kept the crown to the left like the original ProMaster fugu. Not like this that's like Seiko SKX. I guess they didn’t wanna make a one off movement because of the date function. But then they should've done a date delete. If it’s not obvious, I love the ProMaster fugu design. It’s so different to anything else. Great job fucking it up Citizen.
