Watched Sonic 3 on Sunday at 10:50am and it was PEAK! Felt like a 8yr old for the whole movie, especially since I seen it in 4DX(RECOMMEND THAT FORMAT FOR SONIC 3!) too. The final battle and two post credits scenes made the whole theater cheer like a stadium, haven't heard this much cheering in a movie theater since Avengers Endgame, Sonic 1, Spider-Man No Way Home, Sonic 2, Multiverse of Madness, Bad Boys Ride Or Die, and Deadpool & Wolverine.

I normally don't condone bullying or threatening someone. But Disney has been getting under my skin with how much bigger its gotten and how much they flaunt their wealth and power and spend their budget on terrible movies that have no heart, thought and effort put into them. They deserve to feel humiliated because the people who made the Sonic movies actually listened to their fans and gave us what we wanted whilst also properly thinking things through. I want to see Sonic 3 reign supreme over Mufasa and Disney to suffer a little. Maybe then they'll start to realise that they're not the same as they used to be. Also the Mufasa prequel that nobody asked for feels more like an insult to the great James Earl Jones rather than a tribute.

As a 17 year old who grew up with Sonic games, shows, and comics (Sonic Adventure 2 is one of them) Sonic 3 was SO AMAZING, that yesterday was my _third time watching the movie._ That's how _phenomenal it was. Let's not forget that Sonic 3 is the #1 movie in both _*_America AND Ireland!_* Yes, I did have a HUGE Lion King phase when I was 10 (and memorized all the Lion King 1 & 2 songs), but when I saw the live action Lion King movie back in 2019 at 12 years old, it disappointed me. I was ready to sing Be Prepared, and they made it into a boring speech. The live action looked so dull and lifeless too. I vowed to never watch a live action Disney movie ever again after that.

I doubt Disney is going to learn anything from this colossal failure, if their business model in regards to the monopoly of screens - particularly for holidays like Christmas in this case - is anything to go by, they will continue to throw a tantrum and this will lose them some more good will with audiences as they have in recent years. This might however lead to theaters changing how they operate in regards to Disney as the Disney brand might no longer be enough to convince people to watch the movies on their own as it was in the past what with how poorly received these live action remakes have been. And that might force Disney to *gasp* actually put effort into making a movie that isn’t just a cash grab remake or sequel.

I think the main reason why Sonic The Hedgehog 3 did so well is because of marketing and planning. For Mufasa, there was ABSOLUTELY ZERO marketing planning for it. No prequel series or information about it. They just released Inside Out 2 and Moana 2 before it, which overshadows (haha no pun intended) the excitement for a Mufasa Prequel. While Sonic 3, we had stuff waiting for it. 2022-2023 was Sonic Prime, Sonic Frontiers, Sonic Dream Team, etc. 2024 was Knuckles Series and the Shadow x Sonic Generations. This helped keep Sonic Fans waiting and maybe introduce new Sonic Fans to Sonic Lore before watching Sonic 3. Hence the reason why it did so well. I also know Japanese and I'm subscribed to TBS Entertainment (the anime studio behind Sonic X). Their KZbin Channel did marketing by uploading Sonic X Episodes before the international release here in Japan on December 27th, 2024. Tldr; Paramount and The Sonic Team had actual planning and marketing while Disney didn't do any actual marketing planning for Mufasa, hence Sonic 3 beat Mufasa in the box office (domestically for now)

Pained me just a little hearing a coworker yesterday (older man) saying the Mufasa was excellent and it was (and I quote) “crazy to see how much animation has changed”. He was impressed with the CGI, which is fine, but to think the entirety of animation has “changed” as if that CGI garbage is superior to 2D is eye rolling to me (I don’t hate CGI). It reminds me of a couple years ago when my dad said the live action Lion King had “better graphics” and was “better” because they were more “realistic” than the original. 2D animation, especially old Disney, is TIMELESS and often times nobody knows how much time and skill is actually put into it. The Sonic movie obviously isn’t the same case, it’s not a remake nor is it disrespecting the games or fans. I’m looking forward to studios to raise the competition for Disney. So, GO SONIC!

I’m not even against the idea of a Lion King prequel. My problem comes with Mufasa and Scar not actually being brothers. You’ve effectively made Mufasa the bad guy. No wonder scar is pissed.

As much as I enjoyed Sonic 3 ( watched it 4 times) you are really stretching what the word flop really means because it doesn't apply to either film in this situation. Even more so, with Disney making 5 billion in movies in 2024
