Disney is anything but "woke" it's films, especially the Disney princess films, actually actively tell young women they are helpless without a man to do the heavy lifting for them, and they are a prize to be won, a weak object of beauty and nothing more. Sonic 3 has been HIGHLY anticipated ever since the post credit scene of Sonic 2. Mufasa is a movie that no one asked to be made. The “live action” Lion King wasn’t positively received when that came out. It’s widely regarded as the inferior version of that story. Add on the constant missteps that Disney has done over the last few years. The constant pandering has tainted their image to a lot of the fans, and it’ll take time to rebuild that trust again. But as it stands now, there just isn’t enough interest in Mufasa to counter the absolute HYPE that Sonic 3 has garnered.
