Well, it still takes skill to stay fast in the boost games instead of going fast. Like instead gaining momentum in games like Unleashed and Generations, you need skills to maintain it.

James Hurricane you have to dodge all the obstacles in the level to stay fast and not take damage. I don’t get why boost is so bad it’s very cinematic and easy to get into.

To be fair Generations had a lot of automation but no where near as much as Forces. Unleashed took a lot of skill and dogging obstacles and in Colors the boost was just a power up.

Honestly I like boost,it gives me the feeling of actually playing,many I suck and Like easy stuff.Like in sonic the secret rings.It is an auto runner that feels slow yet at the end of the game sonic travels infinite universes.

@@ahmadkazan7994 Yes, but it is widely recognized as one of the worst sonic games of all time, next to sonic 06 and Lost World. It was clearly underdeveloped and lacked moat of the skillful requirements that Generations and Unleashed possessed, boosting was easy and you could autopilot through most levels. Also, the story elements were very mixed up and not as well written. Infinite has an awesome design for a villain and is quite powerful, but again, poor story made him out to be undermined. Forces was a good attempt, but it had too many flaws. Not the worst game Sega has made, but they could've done so much better.

I apprecheate this, it's a good intor to some of sonic 1's strongest features. That being said, new players should be warned that the game peaks in green hill zone as far as level drsign is concerned. Marble is too slow, laberynth is actually painful, and the others ate mostly ok, but nothing close to green hill. Sonic 2 is a better intro to the franchise imo, as it has better general level design (except at the very end, where there are some bad ones) and it introduces some cool stuff like the spin dash and super sonic. Sonic CD is a good one for the explorers out there, though it's also worth it just for the incredible music if you can get the japanese track, and sonic 3 & Knuckles is an excellent package with great levels, cool new stuff, the so far only actually good bonus stages (I guess CD was ok), the most narrative so far, and great music. 3&K is a bit long and heavy to start you off though. Sonic 1, 2 and CD are free for mobile, and the ports make some neat improvements like alowing you to enable the spindash in sonic 1, adding a save system, and that sweet widescreed that lets you have more reaction time which makes going fast more viable. No reason not to try all three, but I recomend sonic 2 first... Ok so play green hill zone from one first, then play sonic 2, I can't tell you not to start with one of the greatest first levels in videogame history. Have fun!

This was a good video. As someone who grew up with the Sega Genesis and the OG Sonic games, it seemed like Sega was invincible. You should do a follow-up of this video following the fall of Sega and Sonic. For me, I knew something was wrong with the Sonic franchise when I had bought my first game with an allowance. That game was Sonic Heroes, which I still think is one of the worst games I ever spent money on.
