some of these skips really are cool as fuck, and its so awesome that everyone has been working together to find them all so quick within just over a month of the games release?? a supposedly 20-30hr game condensed to nearly an hour and 10 minutes is absolutely insane. so keen to see how this game looks in a years time

You can use the DSS Shuffle to skip the Tower fight in the tutorial and jump over the bridge. You won't have climbing though. In my run I actually didn't have it for the rest of the game, which was quite annoying.

Yeah this method is faster than using a DSS shuffle. Additionally, the main category does not allow DLC so we don't have enough experience to learn the stomp ability during the tutorial.

For the question at the very start, id say limits. The normal speed limit is why they find things lile zipping, the jump limit keeps from getting up places fast so they find super jump exploits, and even unskippible cutscenes, limit how fast one can get through the game.

I used to think the same. Then I learned that speedrunning scenes are usually divided between a glitch-allowed section and a glitchless section, and somehow it made me make peace with it. It's harmless as long as it's optional! Also, the point of a speedrun is the speed. So it makes sense to use glitches that speed things up. And let's be honest, those glitches are super fun. Climbing invisible walls, propelling Sonic like a rocket, triggering a boss by just walking on a flower, making Sonic kill himself to skip the Pinball, there's a lot of hilarious or awesome things to do with the glitches in this game!

The cutscenes in that game isn't boring. It's just speedrunners wanting to skip everything. If they could skip to the end of the game in an instant, it would be more boring.

I think most runners are very happy with the amount of Skipped and Non-Skippable stuff we have right now. Sitting through minutes upon minutes of cutscenes where nothing is happening gets lame after a few thousand attempts though. If the game ever did get that broken there would likely be a "No Credits Warp" or whatever it would be because it does sound very boring lol
