The Korean government underestimated the corona virus and proceeded with the opening of the school. However, this has raised concerns among parents and experts, and even today at Coupang Logistics, there have been at least 47 mass infections. Foreigners may think positively about the situation in Korea, but Korea is on the eve of the storm. In Korea, the number of coronal infections is increasing rapidly.

that is exactly what I wanted say. the sharp point.👍
@wayboyalltheway4 жыл бұрын
exactly! I thought it was an interesting choice of word for tracing... to call this tracing of confirmed cases a "surveillance". This is in fact insinuating that there is an invasion of privacy, while Korea's response to this highly transmitted disease has been most authentic and even democratic. Many countries simply locked down their communities and even isolated their possible patients to suffer and be neglected. Korea, on the other hand, performed countless teats to confirm cases and track the movement of the confirmed cases in order to inform its citizens to be alerted and be protected. In doing so, no personal information was disclosed but their age and gender. Places where visited by confirmed cases would swiftly be disinfected and treated so within a couple of days or even over a nite, the businesses would be reopen. This coronavirus is indeed calling for people to accept the new normal. And I believe only socities like Korea where a corrupt president was recently overthrown by the people's peaceful yet powerful movement, the government can be both well trusted and watched at the same time. Seeing how each government around the world reacting to and handling this matter, I am realizing that it is not just an established system that is needed, but we all the more need a transparent and hardworking leadership and good followers who are both attentive and abiding.

For god's sake, the US already passed the Patriot Act which is a way higher invasion of privacy. For what? So that you guys can protect yourselves against terrorism. The track & tracing, a lesser invasion that Patriot Act btw (it only comes into effect once a person is diagnosed), is also to protect people's lives- in this case from Covid-19. Why the Western world is hesitant to install the track & trace method when they already have implemented various anti-terrorism acts is beyond me. Especially when the virus has proven to be much deadlier than terrorism.

The difference is people in South Korea always listen to their authority. In USA, people never listen, see people are dying but protests are also happening.
@jennward69034 жыл бұрын
Right. Everyone is whining and throwing fits about having to wear masks in public. "They're taking away our rights and freedom!! I refuse to wear masks in public!" People like that are why the US is STILL battling Covid-19 and lock down is still going on in many areas. Wear a mask and get over it. Protect your fellow Americans or stay home!
@ShindyK24 жыл бұрын
Not true about South Koreans always listening to authority. When MERS happened, it was the same disaster as it was here in US. They simply learned.
@ljyljy884 жыл бұрын
Socially, yeah your right. But in regards to "People in South Korea always listen to their authority," is probably the most inaccurate depiction of Korea's relationship with thier government I have heard of.

In addition to all these, they were prepared with the ventilators that can be made at a low cost even before coronavirus outbreak.
@kevkev34534 жыл бұрын
This just proves to me that US hospital system needs be to be looked at very carefully. Why did so many seniors in our country died from covid19 and why so many from nursing home died at hospitals? Did ventilators helped covid19 patients or did it make it worst?
@JC-ze9gs4 жыл бұрын
I read that ventilators absolutely help. The US needs to improve its medical system. In South Korea, they have universal health care and over 97% people are insured. (I assume 3% would be overseas citizens whose insurance stops temporarily during the time they leave the country). The medical system in South Korea is INCREDIBLE. They have top technology medical device in state of art facilities. And there are SO MANY hospitals and doctors in Korea that you practically don't need to make an appointment to see a doctor at many hospitals... (and the costs are cheap, too!!!) So COVID-19 patients who show symptoms could quickly get treated and therefore it reduces fatality rate in South Korea... The US has technology, medicine, money... but the number of doctors are so limited. It is so freaking hard to make an appointment!!! And it is SO EXPENSIVE. Even with some of the best insurance, I think it is way too expensive. Hospitals are limited and PPEs are limited. I heard that in most cases in the US, COVID-19 patients are advised to go back home and just take Tylenol and Vitamin C to recover. If you can't even be admitted to a hospital even when you show symptoms, of course it will raise the fatality rate... I find it ironic because the US exports all these high tech medical devices and medicine to the rest of the world, but most Americans can't afford to use them. :( I love this country, but people really need to do something about this messed up medical system.

You may think that Koreans take surveillance of the government for granted, but Koreans who have experienced military dictatorship are most afraid of the country's surveillance. You should know that the reason the Korean intelligence agency of former government was prosecuted by citizens was civilian inspections. A lot of people have come to think that Korea is a surveillance country, as if they were going to do face recognition with a camera in real time like China, but KCDC says that CCTV footage is not used in tracking systems because of privacy issues. What the America fix first to get through this pandemic disease from now on is medical system. Unless it is fixed, there will be no solution even at future. Hospital expense is horrible. Medical system should not be business concept. USA need to learn South Korea and Canada medical system to go to hospital without big burden.
@rdpaik4 жыл бұрын
wisdom truth The US has many things to fix. It needs an universal healthcare system, it needs to bring medical supply production back to the States, it needs to reinstate the national pandemics team and unmuzzle the CDC, it needs much better national internet (if they ever wanna do contact tracing in the future), and it needs a re-focusing of its citizenry to more science and education. This could take a decade.

On the Seoul subway, we used to hear the English announcement about the next stop. It was her voice. Her strong voice started from there. And to the UN, and back to Korea as a foreign minister. We are lucky to have her back. Where would she go next is my personal question. A role model for me and my daughter. I am just grateful that I can hear such voice and words everywhere (if I hear the same voice on the subway 20 years ago and US major news today, I can probably say "everywhere". no? :)
