Dark Souls contains many impressive and borderline crazy glitches, bugs and sequence breaks that might be used in speedruns or even outside of them. In this video I provide an in-depth explanation of possibly the craziest one yet, which skips one of the most tedious areas in the game, and go over the timeline of the history of its discovery. @@catalystz someone might have already mentioned, but the requirement for air roll is somewhat softer. i have it working with 12.7/50 (25.4%) and even 13.7/50 (27.4%) but not at 14.7/50 (29.4%). i use sorcerer's catalyst, grass crest shield, dusk crown, gold-hemmed black skirt and cloak (sum = 11.9), and for this test i used crimson gloves (0.8), brigand gauntlets (1.8) and leather gloves (2.8).

The first time I finished the water temple I hadn't thawed King Zora so I went there without the blue Armor. When someone cries about the water temple being an absolute ass of a dungeon I always smile while shedding a tear on the inside for my poor younger self. It was absolute torture.

The clipping out of bounds thing is also present in dark souls 3. Today while by the anor londo elevator and bonfire I kept invading people (aldritch faithful) while trying to go on the elevator and after on in particular, I appeared inside the bridge itself under the map when i returned to my world

Back in the day it never once occurred to me that swapping the Iron Boots was such a big deal. I feel like it's a meme now that blows the way we experienced the game upon release out of proportion, fueled in large part by that offhand comment in an interview. I heard people complaining about the difficulty of remembering where all the keys were and how to arrange the water levels to get them, but I never heard a single complaint about the boot swapping until recently online

@@twistedgwazi5727 Well, by that time, game design had advanced of course, and it would have been ridiculous to make a feature relying so heavily on menus in an action game today (or when the remake was released). But at the time, that sort of design just wasn't a thing we were accustomed to enough to notice its absence. It might well have been a deliberate choice back then, and it (obviously) wouldn't have received the sort of internet outcry that it might today. But at any rate, it bears remembering that we're talking an art here, not just technology. Newer styles don't necessarily make their predecessors irrelevant as if they were mere tools of a more advanced design. Maybe in this case you'd argue the new design is just better, and maybe it is, but the logic of the old design still made some sense to me back in the day

My version of the water temples was the Tomb of Giants. Hated navigating that place. Loved the horrific skeletons though. Never minded Blight Town or the depths too much. It helped I did not know the depths, Capra Demon, and half of Blightowm existed until my 3rd Playthrough so I was a lot better at the game when I first went to them (played blind, chose thief because I liked the outfit, went to blight town first, got murdered by the club guys, went to the graveyard second, got murdered by skeletons, then went to the undead burg after a 1 month hiatus. Legitimately thought the valley of drakes master key route was the actual route for awhile).
