Great video, love the production quality! One super-pedantic Latin point: "manus" is a 4th declension noun, not 2nd declension. So unlike e.g. "locus" and "loci," where the -i plural is correct, for "manus" the plural is "manūs," same spelling but with a long "u." This won't make sense to any English speaker who is not a Latin nerd, but if you address the hordes as Manūs with a big "ooooo" sound, you will be technically correct, the best kind of correct

While you are totally correct in saying that "manus" is a 4th declension noun, you can techincally hand-wave (heh) his use of 2nd declension by pointing out that "Manus" is a proper noun, since to my knowledge proper nouns are exclusively declined in either the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd declension, never 4th or 5th. So "manus, manūs" for hand, but "Manus, Manī" for guys named Manus, lol.

I'm actually not sure how an ancient Roman would've handled "Manus" as a name, since AFAIK their second-declension proper names are never fourth declension nouns ported over -- it's kinda a unique case. I feel like you could argue for: 1. Keep it as 4th 2. Treat it as 2nd, or, perhaps more strictly, create a new lexical item that is the second-declension name "Manus" 3. Treat it as an indeclinable foreign name

It would unironically be a lot easier if FF was possible, since the Manus moveset is so AOE based it would be impossible for him to not at least hit one other Manus around him. It really is just that that made especially early game so obnoxiously difficult

P.S. This challenge makes me feel incredibly bad as a player that my Dark Souls game has been paused since the year it came out, with only Manus and Gwyn left to finish the game for the first time. Manus was simply kicking my a** to oblivion on my million attempts. I tried him again a few years ago, but he was still making me his bit**. : / Actually I _MIGHT_ have to do Kalameet too, I’m not sure. Last time I fired the game up, I was too scared to go and check, because I worried I’d never find the fog door for Manus again if I left the bonfire I was at lol. Maybe one day I’ll finish the game. 😂

The mosquitoes don't actually respawn infinitely, so it might've been possible to clear out Blighttown with enough patience. A LOT of patience. Then again, you might not have enough arrows for it to even be possible.

Another person mentioned that, I reckon if I took the long bow, black bow, short bow and comp bow with 999 arrows I could've done that really slowly. I wish I knew that before I started I just always assumed they were infinite :')

Huge editing effort here and pain tolerance, especially for a (currently) small channel. Looks almost as painful as trying to play OW. I could never put myself through this. Hopefully you get some following off it. If you like odd DS challenge runs with satisfying/ingenious solutions I highly recommend NGPlus' videos on beating DS and DS2 bosses alphabetically. They end up seriously impressive.

Spacing is everything with Manus. Learnt that while playing a mage with 0 points in vitality. Playing mid-range attacking his extremities is the best as his hit hitbox is large enough and you are at perfect range to roll out of the first strike of his combo and subsequently out of range of the follow-through.

FYI, the undead merchant isn't actually the only npc in the game who sells repair powder. In the dlc, Elizabeth also sells repair powder(iirc she even sells it cheaper than the burg merchant)

Ive always been afraid of doing this run lmao. I did a all enemies are random bosses and all items are randomized and that was so painful I was super afraid to do it with only the toughest boss in the game. Super glad to see that it can be done, glad to see you didnt randomize items on urself as well that would be to much (one of the lord souls was on that one branch in the great hollow for me, it was awful)

After watching for a bit, I figured that the Asylum part would be impossible. Being able to level up at that early firelink shrine where all the Manus’s just run off helps a ton plus the graveyards items. Good effort tho. Also, if you want the total souls for the boss it is one of the options in the enemy randomizer on the first tab, its normally set to 50% of the normal amount of boss souls.

Amazing video! Also about the mosquito manus: while they do respawn, its not infinite. I think it's 5 times for each one. However i still think that quitting and reloading was a viable strategy because you could run out of arrows trying to kill all of them

I actually realized that too a few months after I beat the run, the mosquitoes can respawn 3 times from what the wiki says. If I brought the longbow, black bow and composite bow, and 999 large feather and wooden arrows I reckon I could have cleared the path enough to run without having to quit out. Wish I knew they didn't infinitely respawn before. Oh well 😞

It's not a failure to load, it's the gpu setting about how far away to bother rendering something - the game world run on the cpu still has those things loaded and so gameplay wise you can act like they are there because they are there. EDIT - ok, you say this, sort of, later, but you know this, but if other wanted to know, I leave this axtually here.
