Great Information. I appreciate the insight and what some of the road blocks are for obtaining wax. Makes sense with the older "account" holders tying up product that could be used by more LCSs.

Good content. Been a LCS store for 30+ years. My "local" distributors in CA burned me over the last 4 years out of my allocations. I had decent allocations as I purchase half to 3 cases of mostly every product. Now I am down to 0 to 1 boxes on all sport and non-sports. Use to spend $180-250K per year with them pre 2016. I know that ain't crap now dollar wise. I have to pay them Ebay market prices on first day release for product. If the product has little demand they will flood you with product. If it is hot I get one box or zero boxes unless I pay market value at the gate. Nearly destroyed my retail LCS business relying on my "distributors" as I had to adjust my business model to survive because of their unethical business practices as a wholesale distributor. I just have a bad taste in my mouth as these Distributors have used my original allocations to line there pockets. Screw the 30+ years or loyalty to the distributors; this is a new era of cheating distributors.

Fantastic video. I think the only thing not mentioned is how the perception of restocking at the same price is partially due to retail products at target and Walmart. Customers see those as constant restocks but they do not know that the deliverer of that product has a ton of these things in distribution centers and are only putting a little out at a time in the retail locations. It leaves the perception that they always restock at the same price. However it was all on the original order at the best possible price. When buying items on a secondary market a customer in store does not realize that you paid 330 for this 360 box on re order. Even if on release day it was 180 you never buy it below that again unless its a bad product [which is rare].

breakers like myself get zero wholesale product so thats the issue IMO. every single break I run is secondary market, I get all my product at market price and never get a chance to make a decent profit so that part sucks. I would love to at least get 1 case at wholesale. that bring your average prices of product way down!

e bad news for walmart muchachos in so cal i ran into 3 different store managers at 3 different stores asking them where the cards are at and they each said the same thing. that was the last stock as something happened with their vendor and they wont be getting any more cards from them in san diego walmarts at least (about 16 locations). The first manager tried to say cuz "scalpers" were buying them out and reselling for 20x online...I asked since when did walmart care about what people did with their purchase once it left the store and asked her if I bought a hotwheel car and sold it for 5x somewhere would they stop selling hotwheels? then to bury my point i asked if she had looked on ebay to see if the high prices were true, cuz i assured her thats not whats happening its not that simple. Then she tries to say its because the vendors cant keep the shelves stocked and walmart does not want empty shelves and that was at least somewhat more plausible then the other lame excuses she came up with. So boys when i hit up 2 other walmarts whos managers had the same story it left me with one of those pit in an empty stomach feeling thinking of a bleak future...no inflation didnt do it, gas prices didnt piss me off, it was the possibility of never seeing retail at a local store ever again.

Great insight bro! What’s the feeling among shop owners with the news of Select becoming retail? I would assume that will hurt LCS. Also, do first or second year owners get as much as shops that have been in the biz for 15-20+ years? Finally, who “polices” the shops. Example- last year free packs were supposed to be given to customers for free on National Card Day, instead some shops were charging for them, also I heard of pack prices going up daily, sometimes hourly. I’m sure most of us know of some shady shop owners. Who protects the consumer in such a volatile hobby? Thanks bro

Enjoyed this video a lot. One of the best I've seen in a while. Question for you, Jameel... I was going out to find retail a couple weeks ago... I'm talking 10 hours and crossing state lines, looking... on the way I decided to stop at a LCS that I had never been to. I go inside and after looking around for a couple minutes a guy walks in, both hands full of Walmart/Target bags. He puts them on the counter and begins counting the stuff inside... 120 blasters of Prizm football. 22 Megas of Prizm. 43 Cellos. Then he starts on the Hoops Premium Stock... This shop, to just say what it is, pays people to ride around and buy up all the retail. This has really rubbed me so wrong... Can you explain this to me or help dissuade my anger towards this LCS? Keep in mind, although this shop is inside a run down strip mall, they essientally have over a million dollars in just basketball products sitting right there (which may be where a bunch of this allocation goes, because this place was overflowing). Any way, just wanted an insiders view. I'm open to my anger being misplaced here, but at the same time... Thanks for the informative video. I really do feel its one of the best I've seen in a long time!
@shopmeelypops3 жыл бұрын
hey warez, I cant speak on tactics of other shops or how they may people to shop for them. I will say People are always walking in our door to 'flip' or 'sell me' retail that they just waited for. I dont like to buy it b/c I think its a bad look. But on the flip side, I have people asking me for it all the time to just have in shop, its really a double edged sword. I didn't cover it in this video, but LCS do not get retail accounts if they already have a hobby account.

The distributors are the worst. They are the selling the product for the same price you can buy it for on Ebay, so how are they distributors if they are selling it for market price? Oh and I have email proof from a distributor that they hold product until after release day so they can markup the prices and at the same time say they dont have enough allocations
