WOW this is one of the biggest things I've learned recently. I never even thought of going under the enemy tower to hold the enemy wave so that mine can actually reach the turret. It happens atleast once every game where I can't manage to get it under the tower fully. This is so big!!!

The plan is to: Step 1: wait for the enemy ranged laner to take a turret shot in the face for a single AA Step 2: wait for her to walk into your stun range while under turret to take a second turret shot for free Nice plan. But, if instead of Vayne it was a melee champ, like an Irelia, Riven could have zoned her from CS or run her down at step 1 or step 2, instead of shoving the wave to rebound and setting up for ganks. Vayne bad plays were mitigated by the fact that she is ranged limiting her loses. I feel like the point is that, the melee vs ranged matchup is so skewed in the favor of the ranged, that the ranged champ gets overconfident in victory and makes eager mistakes that could be exploited. But, what if the ranged champ doesn't make mistakes?

jg who don't buy lens are trash anyways. Even if the teemo shrooms, champs like warwick/voli/xin zhao, sejuani, jax, and especially nocturne have enough mobility tools to get on top of him and stun him if he pushes the lane. Teemo is a truly worthless champ, as are most ranged top laners that weren't a busted karma.

4:45 Let's not forget that Aatrox was nearby and that krugs were gone as Riven passed by the tower, meaning that the enemy jungle wasn't near this time. It could've end up pretty badly if the enemy jungle was around since it was near the usual 4:30/4:40 timer for krugs respawn which could end up having Riven killed and the jungler helping Vayne to push and reset the lane.

For example, Vayne has Tumble and her E to push away. That means anyone without at least 2 dashes has no way to punish on ranged mistakes, further pressing the importance of understanding items.

I think the first mistake was allowing ranged champions in the top lane, to begin with. I'm not saying it is not interesting to see a melee player outplay a ranged champion but it is absurdly annoying especially if you are getting camped where it seems like your opportunity is narrow at best under proper conditions. I can tolerate fighting teemo he's rather easy to fight, stereotypical annoying poke champion. Idk ranged champions reward / risk ratio is kinda skewed in top lane especially if you're limited by elements outside of just the lane on its own ( which mind you is already an uphill battle)

Bot told me to go kill myself for the cs difference, jungle camped bot and died (I think the swain supp and rammus jg was duo) and mid was just watching as he himself was slightly behind. Got dove 3 times, was flamed again while rammus refused to take dragon when I pinged it and we lose horribly. I’m by no means a good top. I suck at top and was autofilled but love using tactics from your videos, but gosh darn it it can be hard sometimes.

Hello. A bit new to the skill capped scene. I'm a top lane warwick main. Yes, a top lane Warwick main. I really enjoy watching the top lane videos you guys make and have noticed that I've already been doing alot of things. But I had a few questions. A. I've noticed that Warwick has extreme power spikes at top lane especially when I run grasp of the undying for harass with his Q. Is he just a generally so unpopular champ at top that people just don't know how to counter his kit? If so, why aren't more people playing him top? The only champions I've ever had issues at top with, including ranged champs, is just Urgot and Illaoi. B. Is there a way to make my presence more impactful as a top laner once I've snowballed? Warwick his generally hard to gank because of his damage reduction and fear from his E. But I find myself not know where to consistently be after snowballing. I find top lane tends to slow down heavily against players who know they can't fight me. Should I shove lane even though I dont have great wave clear compared to other champs, counter enemy jungle with the snowball, or try to gank? Once I've snowballed, I usually wind up going into a jungle mindset of roaming, but when that happens I'm constantly having to halt heavy wave pushes top. The reason I ask these questions is because no matter how far I get ahead, I feel he can't be that carry juggernaut when the team doesnt want to push that advantage. I dont know if people just have a stigma against Warwick, so they dont want to team fight when it could crush the enemy. It has me stuck in silver and I cant figure out how to crawl out of the bracket when still losing games even with a huge lead. Thanks for reading.

For those saying immobile champions like Nasus cannot beat ranged, Nasus actually has two options that he can take when dealing with ranged matchup. Option 1. ) Asume the opponent is bad. If you're playing in silver, then you will have opportunities to get solo kills on your ranged top. Teemo players will use blind to poke (or they might get cheeky and blind to deny stacks), vayne players will condemn or tumble forward for that juicy 3rd proc and leave themselves vulnerable, jayce will waste gate to poke then not respect your all in, ect. Just play safe, take buscuits and time warp if you want extra sustain, and wait until they make one of these mistakes. After that, you've won lane. Option 2. ) "I can't solo kill my opponent" If you're feeling less confident that you can will lane, this is where you're going to want to E max. E max nasus can easily out poke and out shove a ranged toplaner like vayne and take full control over the lane. It takes a few levels to really get going, but after shoving them out of lane a few times and collecting your turret plates, you should be in a prime position to carry with pressure alone. Just make sure you save Q for canons. Those 6 stacks add up.

Some champions like Nasus are just countered by range top Landers. Not much you can do, maybe just play defensive cause against a chalenger player using a ranged champion you are not going to win lane. Probably just farm and look to scale since you can't all - in very well and can't set up ganks.

Wrong, if the opponent doesn't misplay you just A- wait for ganks like shown in the video or B-(what i like to do a lot) just get out of your lane and do scuttle, ward enemy jungle or even gank mid, this way the opponent's choice will be less effective especially since out of laning phase rangedbtop laners don't have nearly as much potencial and impact as the ranged ones. Everyone makes mistakes. There's also a bush you can use. Can't hit you if they can't click on you. And if they ward the bush they're not going to be able to ward their jungle, making them vulnerable to ganks.

Sure, eventually the ranged top laner gets out of position and you get a leg up on them, but it is statistically a better pick than ranged melee since you can see how this pro has to adapt so much to an obviously losing lane just in an attempt to get ahead.

Your assessment here is incorrect. When considering the pulling of the wave, you completely ignored jungle tracking. If the enemy jungler were to be there as Riven pulled the wave, even with Aatrox being there, Riven would most likely have to burn her flash with Vayne coming nearby. The better and more consistent option would be to spam ping the Aatrox to help cut Vayne from reaching her turret which will give a huge exp lead to Riven. Not only would Vayne be denied exp hard, the wave would be resetted with it slowly pushing into Riven as Riven looks to recall after denying the Vayne a bunch of exp. With the exp advantage and minion wave location, Riven can freeze it near her turret with the threat of hitting 6 first due to the exp advantage. Yes, the pulling of the wave by Riven is unexpected but that's only because there's a better alternative that yields a higher chance of success. This better alternative is what every person in high elo would do.

The most annoying thing a top laner can do to a jungler is when they are rly behind push the living shit out of the wave and then spam the shit out of you to gunk them when you are at the bot side after a recall trying to clear golems and gunk bot. It seems very specific but it happens all the time

That depends on the situation but should be pretty obvious, I mena most of the times it's better to give all the gold to the adc cause why wouldnt you? But if someone has the rune that spawns zombie wards you should let him get at least one shot on the ward even if it is the last one. Nothing too complicated

This doesn t work in lower elo since junglers are focusex around vertically jungling for mid and bot and riven has 4 gap closers and not everyone plays riven, this ranged top meta is the exact reason why i m a mid main instead of top main now
