in terms of the tools steph curry has, i would say he worked hard and maximized his defensive potential
@MrJibs12312 жыл бұрын
I think the reason he seems to be a bad isolation player when looking at the stats, is because when the warriors switch on D he usually ends up guarding a bigger wing, and Steph can beat anyone to the spot but still, there is a limit to how much you can affect or contest the shot of bigger wings with a 6'3 wingspan. Still, he is a great team defender, he has learned to reduce his gambles, is good at taking charges, and he always shows consistent effort on that side of the ball.

He really did improve a lot. He has active hands and doesn’t gamble or bait on every move. He stay low and on his toes. My biggest advice is practice your defense how to you do your offense, moves an offensive player would do against you and be prepared for it.

Currys defense is VERY underated glad this video was made. He has very active hands gives alot of effort and is good off ball

People assume he's bad at defense because teams want to switch him on to their best players, ex Kyrie 2016. Well would you rather have Steph guard him or Draymond, Klay, Wiggins/Barnes or KD??? Obviously teams are going to go on him, because he's the weakest link not necessarily because he's a bad defender
@joejonas35842 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Marcus Smart can't even get past him. Gs defense is just too good even their small ball lineup unlike Houston's and Brooklyn's small ball lineup which sacrifices defense for pure offense

seeing his defense this playoff run compared to 2015-2019 is night and day he has his hands out almost all the time trying to maximise his frame as much as he can against bigger dudes as well as his close outs and being smart on how to make sure he isn't picked out every time for an iso as well as him bulking up hes not a liability at all anymore

I am so hyped with Curry's defense this season. Even when he got switched with Tatum he always able to stay in front of him without fouling him. That alone is extremely infuriating for any offensive players when they know they couldn't shag off their defender ESPECIALLY considering the difference in length and physicality.

Curry and the Warrior's did a phenomenal job on defending mismatch during finals. If they try to attack Steph in pick and roll Versus Jason or Jalen: 1. Show defense 2. Pre switch player 3. Let them drive to there weak hands (left) 4. Double team(trap) before start of pick and roll if they are in the corner 5. If it can't avoid the switch or shotlock is below 8 seconds, they let Curry defend without double team. Curry let them drive to the weak hands, Warriors did zone defense or box and 1 Versus other Boston player in pick and roll ( team defense): 1. Drop defense 2. Zone defense Isolation plays: 1. Let them drive on weak hands (left) or let them drive at the baseline 2. Zoning if the plan to drive at the middle At the post: 1. Curry has amazing strength, he can't easily push down the lane 2. Avoid move to baseline, he let them go to the middle where there is help Curry has amazing motor, good timing with the ball, amazing hand eye coordination, phenomenal stamina, high level basketball IQ , improve strength helps Compensate with the lack of length and size
@COOLSAUCE212 жыл бұрын
Calling him "lockdown" is a bit extra, but yeah.. he is in no way a bad defender. Teams target him on a switch for two reasons... First, he's the smallest on the team. Having him guard Tatum or Luka is a mismatch. Similar to how the warriors try getting Rob Williams / horford to switch onto Curry, even though both are elite defenders. Second, he's the best offensive player. They'd want to get him in foul trouble and send him to the bench.

I played ball and steph is a great defender. A lot of times he makes clean plays and gets called for fouls which is why you only see him really turn up towards the end of games and series because he can't be on the bench with fouls when the offense runs through him. A lot of people don't seem to understand that. Also I would like to see who they consider to be a great defender if steph isn't one

“He was despised and rejected- a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all. He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people. He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave. But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands. When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins. I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among the rebels. He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.” Isaiah 53:3-12 NLT "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 God loves you so much and showed that by sending His Son to die for us so that we may inherit eternal life. We deserve hell but He gave us heaven through faith in Jesus. I've said it since when he got exposed by Kyrie back in the 2016 Finals. It wasn't that Steph was trash on defense. There is nobody in this league that can stop Kyrie Irving. I also said Steph was an above average defender, these Playoffs and especially Finals have proven it.

Steph has beenban elite defender since 2016. I still cannot phatom where the media gets their narrative of his inability to defend. Most especially when Steph. A & Max start roasting him on defence, including Jwill and Skip when they wants to exhornerate and exhort LeBron over Curry, they start talking about Curry not been able to defend And that's why he in not amongst the debate to be higher than Bron in the goat conversation. Over the stretch of 4 finals played with LeBron Cavs, even LeBron could not beat Steph when Steph defends him or when he switched to Steph on defence. On the other hand, Steph has always made LeBron look naive on defence when LeBron defends him. And if you take a look at Stephs defence since 2016, he has been elite... All these narrative about him not been a good denser is just to quench his status as been the greatest of all time... Go watch all Steph clips when he defends from 2015 till now, you'd realise the dude has been elite... The media is only belittling him to make LeBron greater than him when in actual fact, the reverse is the case!!! Curry is the GOAT of basketball

SUMMARY: Best defender in the league. PROS: Super smart. Good length. Anticipation. Atlhetic: led league in steals without tons of gambling. Excellet 1 on 1 D. CONS: Not a NIKE athlete. Cuts into pushing Lebon, Luka, Giannis, and the other oaf/dunces. CONCLUSION: People are so incredibly easily to manipulate by mass marketing that at this poiint it wuold break their brains to explain that Curry is by far the best NBA player of all time and if that became publicly understood it would do severe damage to the ESPN/NBA/NIKE fusion that controls the NBA and is deeply interwoven to international politics and the American gov/DOD propaganda network. That people can't see this on their own, and are indeed that easy to market to and manipulate, is sort of the argument why you have to. THE END

He's not a "lockdown" defender yet. This is an area he wants to improve on and I bet he will over the next few seasons. In fact this is the only thing in his repertoire he lacks, which when he does develop, he'll be in the top 10 greatest players ever debate.
