As a wrestler first and a basketball player second. This video is great! Not crossing your feet, and being able to shuffle and slide, having very active hands, taking and giving contact, and cutting/pushing through screens, and having the iq to switch vs stay on screens, and knowing zone defense, and when to step-up, being able to change levels and speeds to keep up with your defender, not falling for fakes, will help with defense greatly, get you steals, and lock down defenders! It can be the difference between winning and losing.

Excellent video! I started playing at 18 and defense was about the only thing I was really good at. Is amazing all the things I did naturally in this video. But now I’m 38, slower, don’t play as much and need breakdowns like this to remember all the techniques to use against younger, faster players. Currently working on building up foot speed and mobility to be more effective on the court 😀

This video on "How To Guard Anyone (Lockdown Defensive Tips)" is an absolute defensive gem! The detailed breakdown of defensive strategies and techniques is incredibly helpful for basketball players looking to improve their skills on the court. The emphasis on footwork, positioning, and reading your opponent is spot on. The practical tips provided here make it clear that becoming a lockdown defender is not just about physical attributes but also about understanding the game and anticipating your opponent's moves. Kudos to the creator for sharing valuable insights that can elevate anyone's defensive game. Time to hit the court and put these tips into action! 🏀

Tip that I learned when guarding taller players: use a hand on them to keep them away from you when they try to post up because it will force them to fade or go away from the basket you probably think keeping them close is a good idea but it’s not because then they can just use their hieght to post you or drive

Interesting ! Theoretically every "touch counter", "bump", "grab" is a foul but, like you say, for an active and good defense, you need to get physical and hope the ref forget to whistle. @vinuzo9548
@vinuzo9548 2 жыл бұрын
no its not. Almost every great defender does this. You just have to learn to release the handcheck whenever the player goes to swipe, as long as your hand remains on top, they wont be able to swipe back. They could perhaps swipe up, but outside the nba (james harden) thats pretty uncommon to see and it wont lead to a blowby
@11Andruxa

@@vinuzo9548 as soon as the hand touches the body, it's a swipe right away and a move toward the basket. They already teach that to kids in Europe and pros in Europe use it. NBA guys are the best at it

@@11Andruxa The swipe is definitely a good weapon to have. But it's not an auto blowby against good defenders. Watch at 4:32 how Jrue Holiday plays defense against the swipe. Stays on balance and forces the offense into a really tough finish.
