Came here from your "One Marvellous Scene" video and, after methodically confirming that you're not a one-hit wonder, you gained a new sub.

Thank you so much! This is actually one of my favorite vids I've ever done, too, aside from my War of the Worlds one. Nice to see this getting some love!

Oh my... I'll never be able to watch this film the same way again. This literally made me cry. Well done.

This is some good in depth analysis in an otherwise surface level movie! Well done!

As someone who is a fan of RPO, and of the pop culture I grew up with, this is certainly a well-done analysis of the RPO film adaptation and its significance. I would like to say you are certainly a Gunter on a high level of understanding the changes made to the story. And you are certainly worthy of that title. Thank you very much for this video. :)

Daniel, this is probably one of the best comments I've ever gotten! I actually teared up a little. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, for the kind words! It really made my day.

2:27 awesome! : this should be your ‘thing’ it’s the first one of thousands of video essays that I’ve watched where the wall was broken and we’re sucked into the video and feel part of it, rather than like I’m at a lecture.

@@joshboy64 I love the concept of taking the structure of the book and that of the film to compare them, while trying to formulate hypotheses about why it is so. Doing so you are paying a dutiful tribute to both the format of book storytelling and that of movie storytelling. Also your work on retracing Steven Spielberg's previous works and give your audience an idea about how iconic he is and how he adapted books before is very neat.

@19:40 The iron giant goes on a rampage near the climax of the movie where he changes into his "fighting form" with laser cannons and stuff. The real tragedy is that in ready player one they didn't use the transformed iron giant for the fight which amounts to the severe crime of not sufficiently appreciating the source material.
@joshboy644 жыл бұрын
That's actually a real interesting critique. Honestly, that would've been perfect attention to detail.

In Ready Player One, the Giant is just a replica, so for me it could have a jacuzzi mode if they like.
