For the "plot hole", Cell Max's self destruction was never meant to destroy the planet, it was just a self destruction that would destroy Cell Max and Cell Max only, The Red Ribbon Army never wanted to destroy the planet, they wanted to conquer the planet. The original Cell on the other hand strayed away from his initial programming of killing Goku and instead did his own thing by attempting to destroy the planet.

It's not a plot hole. Cell in his second form literally spent time building up his ki till it was enough to destroy the entire planet. Cell max on the other hand was triggered to blow up. plus Dr. Hedo was the one that installed it as a safety device. I doubt he'd want to take the entire planet with cell max when its a safety to prevent cell max from rampaging. Also it was established that Dr. Hedo isn't evil. So that fits perfectly into the narrative

The self destruction moves of the past were designed as a final "F you" to destroy everything, while Hedo designed Cell Max's explosion to be a self destructive explosion that detonated all of Cell Max's Cells to destroy him completely, it simply wasn't designed for a big explosion, just a potent one aimed at Cell Max's Cells, like Millions of small firecracker's going off in his body aimed destroying all of him.

Yeah, Cell Max's explosion was meant to be more of an implosion, like the ones employed to wreck buildings safely. You could totally arrange those same explosives differently if you wanted to damage as many buildings as posible instead. The power level of the explosives is only one factor.

Cell's explosion: Dr. Hedo changed a lot of Cell's features. Size, sealing his tail, weak point. So he might have made Cell's explosion not as destructive.

Only reason perfect was added to cell’s name was because he achieved his intended design. A design that need 17 and 18 to complete his design. Basically there can not be a Perfect Cell Max because this Cell Max was half baked to be controllable. This should be epically clear in the two intended designs. As others noted Cell original was not programmed fully. Thus possessed self thinking ability plus a personality seeking battle. So it can’t happen..

I think Cell Max has regeneration, but because his brain was incomplete, he didn’t know how to use it. Piccolo type regeneration isn’t automatic.

They definitely would. Thanks to Gamma 2’s sacrifice, Cell Max was HEAVILY weakened. Gohan had then eaten a Senzu Bean and got all his energy back. Gohan Beast’s AURA tanked Cell Max’s punch, just to show the difference in power. So yeah, Gohan Beast and Orange Piccolo would still most likely win.

I think Cell Max COULD have regenerated his arm, he just didn't know he could. First, Cell didn't know he could regenerate until Piccolo showed him, and the way Namekian regeneration works, is that it is not automatic. The body builds up the replacement for the lost body part, after which it needs to be pushed out. This is why Piccolo didn't regenerate during his fight against Cell Max. He isn't going to repeat his past mistakes. Second, the self destruct mechanism was built with the idea in mind that it would destroy Cell Max's body completely, not leaving behind a trace. This extra step would be unnecessary unless Cell Max could regenerate.

But cell max was hurt by a weak obese fusion of gotenks and we saw gamma 2 fight piccolo before he was awakened if the gammas are on par with goku and vegeta he could have one shotted piccolo during their first confrontation. The power scaling in this movie doesn't make any sense and piccolo has made statements like this where he compared ssj2 kefla to be on par with omen ui goku and still kefla was not able to lay a single finger on him. After seeing the movie I thought that perfect cell back in z was more impressive and had more than enough feats to be called a perfect being than the cell max in this movie who I think is just a big semi perfect cell with no brain and we see Gohan going ultimate and was able to overpower gamma 1 I don't think he can do the same to goku or vegeta if they fought each other. I think the gammas aren't even impressive as 17 or 18 as they had infinite energy while we see that the gammas have a limited energy when gamma 1 says that he still has 82% left to gohan

It's pretty clear that Cell Max's explosion was made to be a self deletion and not a super destructive technique. Obviously Dr. Hedo would want to survive the explosion so I doubt he'd make something that would blow up the entire planet if he does it.

Yeah cuz he can see goku fighting, so he can measure the speed of the punches. Piccolo said on moro arc that goku in ssb was stronger than when he saw it before, even tho he can't sense god ki from blue. Besides, piccolo could sense jiren power, LSSJ broly power, Moro 73 power (stronger than young moro who defeated ui omen moro arc goku), and yet said the gammas were goku and vegeta level, and he just one punched one gamma (akira also said piccolo is on pair with goku). So the gamma is on goku level on piccolo's perception (probably ui omen moro arc), and orange piccolo is goku level on toriyama's perception (post granola arc goku).

What I want to know is how is cell max more advanced than the original cell. He can't transform, he can't regenerate, he can't absorb anything, and he looks to be less agile and maneuverable than the original cell. Is being stronger really thr only upgrade, because Gero can build his androids as strong as necessary by just making them based off data and calculations of Goku's power progression. I just don't see how cell max is more advanced than the original cell, it's more of a watered down cell that's just stronger. Or a stronger cell but with none of cell's original abilities. How is hedo more intelligent than gero if his version of cell can't even regenerate. Anyway this could be a good video idea to consider in the future

I remember years ago they had an interview where Akira toriyama stated that he hates criticism from his fans that you can never please them. It makes you wonder if that's what this is why the anime manga and movies are so different and power scaling as well as some other things. The Truth... imprefect Cell max is as powerful as the current Broly.. and you have to remember Broly's even stronger than before because he is training with Goku. Not to mention that it was confirmed and if that Legendary Super Saiyan Broly and Super Saiyan blue Gogeta were even in terms of raw power..Broly lost because he had no controls over his emotions and Power.. in summary Gogeta Won because he was the superior Warrior.. Therefore Cell Max in terms of raw power even his incomplete form scales way above Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta. I wonder if they actually incorporate the Broly movie into the anime... it would be absolutely crazy if Gogeta had to use Super Saiyan Blue Evoultion to defeat Broly... imagine if they do a Retcon like that.

There needs to be some recognition of intent when it comes to Cell's self-destructs. Semi-Perfect's was intended as a weapon against an opponent, while Cell Max's was a failsafe against himself. If any random explosion of Semi-Perfect and above can destroy the Earth (not that I don't understand why someone would think that; we've been planet-busting since Saiyan arc Vegeta), then Gohan would have had to knock Perfect Cell into space before killing him.

Well granolah arc is different in the sense that the wish to be the strongest has a lesson brought with it, that you are only the strongest temporarily. If cell max was alive while granolah had made that wish, he'd die instantly.

Just because it was started to be in development before the Granolah arc doesn’t mean it doesn’t tie in with that. Broly was already in development since the end of the tournament, does that mean Gogeta is weaker then Moro? Also cell max was suppressed in his explosion because they wanted to conquer the world and not harm the bystanders in the process.

Broly movie gogeta might be weaker than Moro 73, since goku says he hadn't faced anyone as tough as him at the time. But gogeta was far above Broly so maybe that isn't saying much

In the Buu saga Vegeta self-destructed but he only left a crater because he didn't let the explosion build up to the point where it would destroy the entire planet and he controlled the radius of it to make sure it didn't spread to any more areas. It's about range and control of ki.

Hear me out...Cell Max exploded due to his body being unstable after his head was pierced. OG Cell deliberately chose to power himself up to blow up the planet because he was losing. Cell Max explosion triggered by his defeat. Dr. Hedo probably didn't want to make an end of the world scenario and made the explosion on a much smaller scale.

The power scaling is pretty inconsistent and has been broken ever since the Buu saga but here even this is a slam dunk on who's stronger than who besides most of those statements aren't from "toriyama" and anyone with common sense would know that. ps: superhero does not take place after any of the manga arcs in the anime and it has not yet taken place in the manga so before you try and say "b- but superhero is after granola so cell max slaps" just stop not every new villain is stronger than the old one. Regarding the Cell explosion thing, I think of it in an atom bomb sense. You can blow up an atom bomb with conventional explosives and not have the nuke part blow as well. In fact, that's how the main defense against ICBMs is supposed to work. You blow up the nukes before they can detonate as nukes. Not only this but many nukes have self destructs that won't make them go nuclear. Why? because it takes a lot of concentrated power to make a fission bomb go boom and it takes a fission bomb to make a fussion bomb go boom. The way I see it, Cell Max had an ICBM like self destruct installed while Cell was trying to go nuclear. Even if both would have had the exact same power level, one's explosion was the equivalent of a nuclear device designed to blow up, while the other's self destruct was the equivalent of a fail safe designed to stop the nuke from going up, by blowing it up before it could trigger.

Cell Max is also probably stronger than Broly, not just Jiren. But, to add on to what Geekdom was saying. Piccolo and and Gohan were acting as what's referred to as an "unreliable narrator". They're pretty common to see in fiction, sometimes a character might purposefully be unreliable to the read / audience, sometimes, like in Gohan and Piccolo's case they don't mean to be. We just have more information than they do. Goku is also an unreliable narrator when he said that Broly was stronger than Beerus.

Based on the movie itself, i think gamma 1+2 were on ultimate gohans level (ssj3 ish power). Piccolo i would say is somewhere in the ssj god to ssb level as he way over powered the gamma's, but obviously not on mui/ue/beast level. As for gohan, i feel like all we can really do is guess at this point. Yes the movie story has been written for a while, but im sure the manga story's have been to some degree as well. The only thing we can go by is that cell max is supposedly stronger than broly, but no one even really knows where broly actually lands either. We know he is stronger than a regular ssb, but going by the show, both still kaioken blue and blue evolution, let alone mui, and we dont know how those would fair against him.

Toriyama said Cell Max completed would have been an enemy even Broly couldn't beat. Cell Max is incomplete tho. So at best incomplete CM could potentially be Broly's equal. Gogeta was an opponent Broly couldn't beat either. Piccolo said the Gammas were on Goku and Vegeta's tier and Superhero was being made BEFORE DBS Broly aired in theatres so when they say its a direct sequel they meant that shit literally. So if we take all that at heart value and Goku/Vegeta only went Blue in DBSB, I assume Gammas=Blue. So I'd say tiers of weakest to strongest: 5.) Ult. Piccolo 4.)SSB/Gammas/Angry Ult. Gohan 3.) Orange Piccolo/Full power Broly/Incomplete Cell Max 2.) Gogeta/Complete Cell Max 1.) UI/UE/Beast The 3rd tier on my list is the most uncertain cuz SS Broly couldnt 1 shot Goku/Vegeta but Orange Piccolo did to someone allegedly equal to them. Maybe Full Power Broly could tho. Also Gohan was confident in Piccolo's ability to fight Cell Max if he ate a senzu but Piccolo gave it to Gohan cuz he knows what Gohan is capable of when all else fails and probably wanted that drawn out *Ironically like Goku in the Cell games which Piccolo chastised Goku for lol* So I ask, if Gohan didn't drop his senzu and Piccolo was allowed to eat his, how much better would he have done? That's why I have Orange at tier 3.

God this movie was such a freaking mess. An android being the strongest being in the multiverse and as strong as gods of destruction makes zero sense. Piccolo just wishing to be strong and becoming stronger than Jiren makes zero sense. Gohan transforming and going from mystic level to significantly stronger than Gods of Destruction with absolutely zero hard training makes zero sense. I get dragon ball powerscaling has always been bad but super just takes it to another level of terrible.

For the people that's getting mad for cell max being stronger than Jiren or even broly is honestly a little bit ridiculous because y'all have to understand that cell max is a creation and by a super genius no doubt. So that obviously means cell max never trained to get stronger which also mean cell max will have a limit because he never focus on breaking his ceiling or limitations. This easily put Jiren and broly at a huge advantage because they trained very often to break through their limits and reached a higher power. Cell max being "stronger" than Jiren or broly does not give you a definitive answer that they are powerless or can't defeat cell max. The gap between cell max and broly is not so undoubtedly long as someone like whis where you know it's inevitable to overcome. What we seen of broly so far even though he is weaker than cell max I have no doubt that broly can rapidly close to gap and come up on top. Broly was far weaker than Goku and Vegeta during at the very beginning of their first fight. The same formula will be applied in broly vs cell max.

Because of the mess with the movie and moro and granola arcs in the manga, they need to re-balance everything when they do anime arcs of those 2 manga to properly fit them in and explain things better. would be best to have the moro and granola arcs take place after Super Hero but change up a few things to leave manga and anime versions different but still leading up to the same thing

1. Dr.Hedo wasn't trying to destroy the world which is why when Cell Max exploded only he blew up. 2. Piccolo isn't a reliable source for saying the Gammas are stronger than Goku or Vegeta because he wouldn't know. If the Gammas were truly as strong as Super Saiyan blue he would have been one tapped in the first part of the movie. Gamma one was struggling against ultimate Gohan and that same Gohan lossed to Goku.

I tend to justify explosions in modern db as, bigger doesn't necessarily mean stronger. Some attacks they were using back in the saiyan saga are bigger than those in the ToP. Maybe cell max's dying explosion just had crazy intensity vs size 🤷‍♂️

I’m pretty sure Vegeta’s comment on Jiren was purely on Jiren’s destructive power not being too much higher than goku and Vegeta, not overall. Jiren is simply a lot more efficient with his massive power which is what made the gap so big with goku and Vegeta (excluding UI) at the time. So Vegeta isn’t implying they’re close to Jiren.
