Larry is a freak but Mariusz is one of the strength GOATs of the era. The static big three lifts were never a focus for Pudz and to be honest, why would they be considering strongman requires power and speed. That worked well for him as he was one of the most powerful lifters in regards to explosiveness. Just an overall excellent athlete. Not taking anything away but Larry trained a bit for strongman but then stopped as he was already developing injuries. Too bad, would have been great to see him compete with Licis, Novikov, Stoltmans and the like.

Both great men. Similar. Both had the same mental drive in their peak. Was Larry stronger/better man? Not comparable. I believe Larry was more like power lifting man. his goal and drive was to lift more weight. Get to next level. Mariusz was more like champion man - he was as strong as it was required of him to become champion. If level of competition would be higher he would get stronger untill he would win or his body would collapse which did not happen so i think he still had some good margin to go.

Always interesting to see comparisons between different types of athletes. It would be even cooler to see videos of actual athletes applying their skills to different sports. Like take some bodybuilders and actually have them train for a week or so on strongman events, then do a strongman competition to see how well their training transfers. Or take a sumo wrestler and see how well they do as an offensive lineman in an NFL scrimmage. I saw a video called something like Brute Force Showdown, where they kind of did that--they took different kinds of strength athletes and had them compete in a variety of events to see whose skills transferred the best to general athleticism. Thats just not how things work xD Had Mariusz been in WSM today, pulling 300Kg in DL he would be outclassed by everyone. The comparison display how things change and values just keep climbing. So great way of showing this :)

Going with Marius due to accomplishments in shear titles by the time he was Wheels age. However, time and changing in training methods, gear, and Larrys emphasis on Personal records and documenting on youtube, would dictate that its Larry Wheels, who would be seen as the winner.

Mariuz pudgenouski is so much stronger than that guy. The strongman events are real man strength tests. Larry knows dumbells, totally different

Would be a pretty weak comparison tbh, Larry destroys Jamal in all lifts pretty much with the exclusion of the deadlift

Larry have amazing static strength and Marius have amazing moveable strength. Larry have alot potential in terms of strength competition likes strongman,crossfit and arm wrestling. But personally think that Marius might have better grip strength than Larry.

You know what make GOAT , the GOAT ? Mariusz last time competed in 2009. In prime 2000/2009 9 years prime. 13 year after ,people around the world talking about him , with full respect ,no one saying anything negative .This is amazing

Gotta love the mental gymnastics the Marius fans are doing to minimize Larry being stronger than him in several lifts. Plus all of Larrys lifts are on video.
@b_rabbit4354 ай бұрын
Functional strength = Mariusz Pudzianowski. Flipping tires, carrying rocks and pulling trucks is something Larry wouldn't even come close to contending with Mariusz with. Strongmen has to train for 12-15 events. If they could focus on 3 lifts like powerlifters do, be certain Mariusz could better Larry as he isn't even far away from Larry in Larrys own game.
@zeroone38042 жыл бұрын
Mariusz had to focus on mulitple strength training techniques for competition. If he just solely focused on 3 lifts his numbers would be much higher
@aaronbarlow4376 Жыл бұрын
To be fair Larry's 295 bench pause was more a rest/bounce on his chest, not a true pause, which is barely touching. Still insanely impressive.

Wow, this puts in perspective how strong Larry is and even crazier, how much stronger can he get with time as he's still very young. I would risk a guess that if they were to compete and had more endurance competitions, prime Mariusz would totally smoke Larry, but if they'd be more like Arnold's classic with heavier weights and more static competitions, then Larry maybe would come on top Edit: before anyone freaks out over this, I know that Pudzianowski was the best at his time and it's not to take anything away from his accomplishments, but it's been long since he moved on to mma so it's not like he'll get any stronger than he was in his heyday

i do agree ...if they were competing at same time the numbers for lifts would have been closer... the mind has a large impact on your max lifts...Plus again strong man skills are different for sure..and training is different...

Mariuz was also a lot heavier so the total weight in squat and deadlift was propably higher which equals more power needed even if the bar weight was lower
@jarmojauhiainen73002 жыл бұрын
@chris mcd for the total power generated that is excactly how it works buddy. a 200kg guy may hardly get on his feet but is a lot stronger than a 40kg kid deadlifting 40 kg absolute strenght pure science bud A 120kg guy doing 1 chinup with 10kg added weight is stronger than a 50kg lady doing a chinup with a 20kg weight if you do not understand this you have no business discussing who is the strongest. Hell I can do a chinup with a 40kg added weight to my 115kg frame and that makes me stronger than a 70kg guy doing the same with 50kg added weight, you Einstein
@StrengthUniverse2 жыл бұрын
@Jarmo as J C stated that isn't correct. All powerlifting federations use a coefficient of strength to determine the overall winner. A Super heavy weight with a total of 2000lbs at 141kg body weight beats a powerlifter with the same total but at 160kg body weight
@jarmojauhiainen73002 жыл бұрын
@@StrengthUniverse yes by their rules but we are discussing about absolute strenght so the power generated by that heavier guy is still more
