The art felt nostalgic, the nuanced story telling showed us Masashi Kishimoto hasn’t lost a step, and Minato really did come across as strong. I think the thing people don’t acknowledge about Minato when compared to the other powerhouses in the series is that all his feats come purely from his genius alone. All his feats were done from his own talent. From enhancing the uzumaki seal to his own version, to surpassing tobirama’s flyng raijin. He didn’t have the benefit of owning any of the eye powers or being a jichuriki. So when he gets compared to things like itachi if he was healthy or other eye users, it’s kinda not fair? I think I can best describe it as Minato being the pinnacle of what a normal ninja can become without the added benefits of having any of the eyes.

Never once do we see any one die from over use. Naruto and sasuke spammed moves and ran out then regained so fast that it became a plot device . So answer yes probably the reason is usage however its not relevant in terms of actual use of characters. Shadow clones were supposed to cut your chakra in half every time one is made. But naruto made 1k in his first fight so he divide his chakra 1 thousand times. So you have to imagine his life force either is infinite without kyubi help or doesnt really matter. Kakashi died technically of out of chakra but he took too much damage so its iffy if its chakra or pain who killed him.

Just read the one-shot manga and man, Kishimoto's art is so good. It was a nice trip down memory lane reading some new Naruto. Seeing Minato's intelligence was also cool. We finally get to see more of his genius level intellect displayed. That opening page felt like a flashback to the prime Naruto days of a decade ago. It was a great one shot and a treat to read.

Minato is the embodiment of peak shinobi to me. He didnt come from a big well known clan (as far as we know), Chakra control & formation was class, and skill & battle tactic was astronomical. Mans took a jutsu from one of his Kage predecessors & vastly improved it, then proceeded to create his own jutsu inspired by the tailed beasts that could rival a tailed beast itself. Only thing he's trash at is actually naming certain jutsu's. Other than that dude just came from nowhere and proved he was that once in a generation talent & a rare breed.

The coolest thing I like about Minato's fighting style is that it's all single-target based. He has basically no huge-AOE jutsu like so many other characters. He solos out one target at a time and hit them with as much power as he can, usually hand to hand with Rasengan.

I think Hiruzen's fear of Minato over Hashirama just comes from a time when the intended power scaling of the Hokage was different. Early-mid Naruto had a theme of "generational growth", with each new generation growing stronger by using and improving upon knowledge/techniques of the old. It would have made sense for Minato, the then most recent Hokage whose life had unfortunately been cut short, to be the strongest and most feared. Unfortunately it ended up growing a bit messy with Madara being a BIG deal, which meant Hashirama needed to be a BIG deal. And then it spiraled.

This understates, that even if Hiruzen could fight minato, how disruptive minato would be in a fight like that. So much of Hiruzen vs Orochimaru is static planning. And with someone as quick as minato on the field to deal with, Hiruzen would have had an Aneuryism trying to strategise against Orochimaru while dealing with a teleporting god. I think Minato's main strength is his heavy reliance on pragmatism. His main skillset is his speed, skill and his kunai. Keep in mind that most of his techniques doesn’t require hand signs which means he not only minimizes his periods of vulnerability, but he can instantly punish those who rely on jutsus with handsigns all the while keeping at least one hand free. What he lacks in firepower and flashy techniques, he more than makes up for with full effective use of simple techniques. And the fact that one techniques relies on a mark that stays with you forever means that once he's tagged you, so long as he's still breathing, you're basically screwed.

As far as that Viz Translation, context is also important. You sort of gloss over how he mentioned the Uzumaki Clan. Sure, Kurama mentions how Minato isn't even an Uzumaki, yet he's augmenting the tetragram seal in his own style. And then he calls Minato a most powerful shinobi, ranking alongside first hokage Hashirama, and says "unbelievable..." It's in that line, in the word unbelievable, that I think it's the most important clarification for what Kurama means. It might not necessarily mean "Minato is on par with Hashirama, they should totally do a 1v1 for the fans to argue over" he means "I am Kurama, the Nine Tailed Fox Demon, no mere human, shinobi or otherwise fazes me. THIS shinobi has done something so incredible and unexpected, that he has even surprised and impressed me, the only other shinobi I have ever encountered to commit such an act was first hokage Hashirama." Like, he considers Minato comparable to Hashirama BECAUSE Minato did something KURAMA HIMSELF described as "unbelievable". So I don't necessarily believe Teen Minato was like, as strong as the Hashirama Kurama remembers and references, but it's more along the lines of what you said, that they are cut from the same cloth, incredible shinobi that stand out among their peers, so powerful that they must receive acknowledgement from the greatest tailed beast.

I always defended him when it came to discussions about whether or not he is on-par with Hashirama and I'm glad the new manga gives him the edge. He deserves it and the series needs a top tier fighter that doesn't just rely on cheats. His fighting scenes were by far the coolest because of all that and he's therefore my favourite character.

Dude has insane chakra, 3 chakra natures, and mastered the flying rigin and even is able to teleport a whole biju bomb. He created the rasangon, mastered Sage mode witch gives him extra strength, speed, durability, and senses. He can also use his nature chakra to upgrade his jutsu. He can also summon the toads and the reaper death seal and he knows multiple uzumaki seals. He evens has the nine tails that gives him access to kcm1, and kcm2.

My interpretation, and honestly the only one that I think makes sense for Minato's Sage Mode is that Jiraiya has the body for it but not the skill, which is why he can maintain it imperfectly, while Minato has the skill but not the body, which is why his form is perfect but lasts for like actually 5 seconds, which would explain why he has a Perfect form that he himself states he has never used in combat.

As a Minato fanboy, I enjoyed the one-shot a lot, and I’m seriously glad he won the poll. I do feel that it was essentially a way of Kishimoto retconning his retcon of *NOT* making the Fourth Hokage the strongest to have ever lived. Of course, he still isn’t the strongest, but I’d say this one-shot was Kishimoto’s way of saying “hey I nerfed this guy on purpose during the war but don’t get it twisted he’s HIM”. My personal theory is hiruzen was scared of edo minato because he knew minato is the only person there who could've left the barrier without breaking it with all the ftg seals he has around the village. Minato actually got there first, teleported a bijuu bomb from the ten tails and even chatted with Naruto and Sakura before the other hokage got there. I’ve always personally thought the main reason hiruzen didn’t want any conflict with Minato is that his kit and specific skillset just really hard counters hiruzen at this stage of his life. Hiruzen at this age struggles with making more clones, which divides his AP even further. That extra clone could be devastating. Also, minato if he tags him kinda just ends the fight with his lack of durability and speed disadvantage. Orochimaru clearly made them a lot more brain dead so they would even fight hiruzen, but the downside of this is it makes him way harder to use tobiramas advance raijin kit. It’s a weaker version then minatos and it’s just easier to spam aoe attacks that force hiruzen to waste chakra. Minato though since his base speed is higher and his kit is just an easier flying raijin into rasengan and that’s a real wincon vs hiruzen at this age is simpler to execute.

it's more than at that point the concept of naruto was that each new generation surpass the precedent, 4th was thought to be the strongest Hokage ever, and 3rd was stronger than 2nd or 1st (that's why his "supreme technique" was growing trees). I think there are a few things about Minato's feat that you are overlooking when it comes to how strong Minato is. The first is that the half of Kurama that Naruto was fighting was fully unsealed, as in Kurama was able to use his full capabilities. The Kurama that Minato fought was still sealed, the seal was just weakening. The second is that the Kushina that helped Naruto was only a portion of Kushina's chakra; a dying Kushina that was using a significant amount of chakra to chain down the full nine tails. Minato had a fully alive Kushina with a full chakra supply, and she may have had more than normal amount of chakra in her state because she had Kurama's chakra. Lastly, Minato didn't need to defeat Kurama. He only needed to push back against Kurama enough for Kushina's seal to tighten. Naruto had to defeat Kurama, as in completely subdue Kurama to take his chakra from him and return him to the seal which Naruto undid. I believe you have taken this feat greatly out of context to overstate the strength needed to complete it. The feat was impressive, but all conditions must be properly examined. Also, Kurama's statement may have meant skill. Skill and power are very different in Naruto. As many shinobi were more skilled than a young Naruto, yet he could beat them with his superior power.

I would say that Minato is a perfect example of a glass cannon. He can hit strong and fast, but can't take hits amazingly. However, I think that is mainly due to the people he has fought and been damaged by (Kurama twice, Obito, 6 path characters, etc). Cool video, hope you make a similar video about Kushina since she, *checks notes,* might have the Rasengan, and seeing your opinion on how strong the chains are and how much 9-tails chakra she could use would be interesting.

Even then, it's actually a bad durability feat because he was nearly killed by a partial 9-tails transformation, while characters like Pain and Orochimaru can take attacks from a similar form and take less damage.

The more I look at minato and Itachi the more I see how their characters are actually supposed to be more correlated narrative wise for Naruto and sasuke. I know it’s always hard to say exactly how strong itachi is considering he was sick. I hope one day we get some solid evidence of how strong he was really supposed to be. I feel he was designed to be around the same tier as minato personally.

I feel like the manga made his power level pretty clear but that fans are so hung up on his FAKE performance against Sasuke that they let it cloud their mind. Obito factually says that he couldn’t move against the Leaf Village or make a play on Sasuke until Itachi died. Obito also says that if Itachi knew about (definitely Izanagi) he would’ve been killed by his Amaterasu (which also did blitz Obito before he could Kamui just like FTG level 2 did). And yes with his full arsenal I believe he is 100% on Minato’s level with less stamina.

I always thought that the "how fast is the jutsu between users?" thing was distinguished in how quickly the jutsu can both be initially activated and how quickly it can be reactivated after use. So while Tobirama created the jutsu, Minato was more adept at actually activating the jutsu, and/or can use it multiple times in quick succession more adeptly. And there's always the fact that you need to place the jutsu formula on the location you want to teleport to. The Jutsu just has a lot of moving parts. And Minato commanded a more complete mastery over the implication and execution of each of these parts than Tobirama did.

Sorry to ruin the Minato wankfest in this video and ruin the mood for y'all, but its very clear Kurama means Minato ranks among Hashirama in terms of sealing Jutsu, not power. If you really want to learn about Minato's strenght, instead of meatriding him because he is your favourite character, consider the following: One, This very same chapter starts with Minato running away from Han and Roshi's Bijuu Bomb (and we know from the war arc that this is just a tiny fraction of the Kyuubi's power), so why run away? Hashirama literally treated Kurama and every other tailed beast like pets in terms of power with his wood golem, even facing Kurama with a perfect Susanoo cloak + Madara and STILL won, while its pretty clear that Minato could not replicate that even closely in his prime, otherwise the series would have never even happened in the first place. Two, Swagkage states that Hashirama isnt known for knowing Sealing Jutsu, and that is a straight up lie if you have minimal knowledge of Naruto. Not only is the entire Bijuu power balance a thing BECAUSE Hashirama sealed every single tailed beast, but his Wood Style was shown multiple times to be incredibly good at sealing the Kyuubi's Chakra (I mean, just check how effective Yamato was even though he was much weaker at it than Hashirama), in fact, Hashirama was so good at Sealing Jutsu that his Deity Gates sealed THE TEN-TAILS, AKA EVERY BIJUU COMBINED. To make this claim is to be completely dishonest about the subject at best. Three, if you read that very same panel so many Minato fanboys are lingering on, Kurama is clearly impressed at the fact Minato added his own seal on top of Kushina's and suppressed his Chakra, never once Kurama mentions anything about Minato's power overcoming his. Remember when Kurama compared beggining of Shippuden Sasuke to Madara because he too could use the Sharingan to supress his power? This is the exact same thing, so why are y'all acting like this is anything new now? Unless you mean that Kurama's claim also makes pre-Hebi Sasuke around EMS Madara level.

I'm gonna counter that first sentence real quick. A) This is the first time he's ever encountered tailed beast. And he is running away on orders, not because he thinks he can't win. He has yet to formulate an opinion on tailed beast versus himself. He only knows the stories and hasn't tested himself against them. So this is a bad faith argument. B) At that point he doesn't have a clear answer for bijuu bombs. He doesn't know he can FTG them away, and he has not created rasengan something that can arguable counter bijuu bombs directly. And to be clear I mean counter them by clashing with them before they finish forming thus negating the attack before it becomes an attack. This is something almost entirely unique to Minato due to FTG and rasengan combination. So this literally says nothing about it actually being on par with said attacks. Add in shadow clones and yeah realistically he should be able to counter all 9 at the same time even at that age. C) And despite this Minato is still the only ninja ever to be flee on sight. As this is taking place during the third war it means shortly after the oneshot and the creation of the rasengan no nation believe their bijuus are actually capable of stopping Minato anymore. Something he kinda proves in the A and B fight. Add a single shadow clone into that mix, and A is 100% dead, and B is likely dead shortly after. Let me remind you the third ninja war had people that had fought Madara and Hashirama, and every nation believed they had someway of handling or dealing with them. (How IDK retcons man retcons) But Minato they don't have an answer for. That is the pure logic the rest is a combination of logic and speculation. To discuss his sealing skills: First Minato outright beats all currently known ninja in Naruto in sealing jutsu be a sizable margin aside from hax abilites. To explain: Hashirama is honestly kinda mid at sealing. And before you get your panties in a bunch, remember he has functionally infinite sage chakra and wood release (Somehow this naturally counters tailed beast. I believe it was explained as something to due with nature chakra, but I don't recall), and is a reincarnation of the sage's son. He litterally is living breathiung walking counter to tailed beast. Do we see him use seals outside of the tailed beast? I genuinely don't recall. This makes any sealing done to bijuu by him by him unimpressive by default. He seals them and they are functionally unable to resist or put up a fight. The Uzumaki also get a counter in the form of their chains a skill that also weaken and restrain tailed beast, and they specialize in sealing as a clan. So one counter for them. The Uchiha eyes are complete BS. But this is fair Kurama does notice the similarity between the Madara's eyes and the vile chakra. But that's it. No where does Kurama state that pre-hebi sasuke ranks alongside Madara. It is shocked that Sasuke's eyes can suppress it, But Kurama doesn't understand how the sharingan works. Also let's not forget that those eyes descend from the sage with techniques kind of designed around control this includes controlling tailed beast. Finally let's not forget all Sasuke suppressed was remnant chakra, intentionally leaking from a seal that Naruto was already suppressing. This wasn't a full powered kurama that was capable of actually breaking it's seal to fully take over it's host. This makes that feat kinda weak and honestly something that any Uchiha with sufficient control of their eyes should be able to do. What do all three have in common? They all naturally counter Tailed beasts in someway. Minato had none of that. Legitimately he has zero things that should allow him to even feasible be at a bijuu level. Yet despite that he can seal them with no hax, despite that he can modify and interfere with other seals. And this is all before he starts just taping people to leave seals on them. Realistically they way Minato is portrayed he should no diff jinchuriki and only struggle against the actually fully realized tailed beast as he supposedly doesn't have sage mode. (I'm not touching that retcon or war arc.) Genuinely the statement is warranted, and is most likely in reference to the sealing jutsu. Also Kurama sees everything Kushina sees, Including the imitation of the bijuu bomb Minato is creating for her. It's very likely what Kurama means is that having seen all that, as well as the fact that Minato literally created his own variant of the sealing jutsu specifically for it, on the fly, that it's grading Minato's overall capability as comparable to the first. It's not saying Minato is as strong as Hashirama. Just that in terms of skill, knowledge, and application, and decision making he is on the same playing field. He says a most powerful shinobi "ranking alongside". This implies overall capability, but not necessarily strength. This is different then the Sasuke statement. That was specifically Sasuke's eyes and chakra reminded kurama of Madara. There is no mention of being on the same level. Let's compare Minato is suppressing, resealing, and strengthening Kushina's seal while she is forcible being taken over by the Kurama. It gets as far as 8 tails and throughout all of that, and It's still being actively sealed and suppressed. This is despite the fact that Minato takes what should be a fatal injury during this process. And remember Kurama makes that statement about ranking alongside as it's actively taking over Kushina, showing that it's breaking its seal. Let's not downplay that. That's an impressive feat that showcases several skills all at once. To be clear, preretcon, it's very clear the fourth was meant to be the strongest shinobi. That's what creates the divide in the fandom. Add in the fourth got so heavily nerfed in the war arc that we legitimately don't actually know what he is capable of. He took the truthseeker orb expecting to be able to regen. That's how they learn they can't regen from that. It's a great way to nerf a character the author doesn't know how to handle. Especially after hyping them up as being the best for years, to suddenly change your mind part way through the story. But at the same time Minato somehow merges with the yang chakra wtf? I'm still baffled by that one. Basically the story has shown that Minato has all the tools, and even knowledge to fight all the tailed beast, at the same time, to at least a draw, as well as ways of sealing them. (This would be slower and realistically he would have to separate them, but it could be done. He however lacks hax that allow him to instantly win those fights. And plot 100% forced him to fail because with what info we are given that is plot armor af and does not line up with characters skill and abilities. (Writing good consistent stories is hard no shade. It happens. But that's what happened.) To put it another way Minato is the best at being a ninja. You know stealth, being a spy, infiltration, assassination, and sabatoge. Minato's skill set specializes in those tools in a way that no one else ever had. He has the best no hax sealing abilities, and arguably he is on the same playing field as the ones with hax Just slower then they are at sealing tailed beast specifically. Is he the strongest? No. His kit just specializes in killing and sealing this allows him to rank higher then what his actually power is probably at.

An armless and almost dying Orochimaru tanked a Bijuu bomb the first time he ever saw one, yet Minato ran away because he supposedly doesn't know he is Hashirama level and therefore should easily one-shot both Roshi and Han? Please, spare me with that non-sense. And what is the reason you provide? Because Jiraiya said they should retreat? Now THAT is the definition of a bad faith argument. If Minato had Hashirama's power, he would simply teleport his team away, inform Jiraiya he can actually handle them both by himself without any trouble, teleport back, seal the 4 and 5 tails in 10 seconds before Jiraiya could even argue anything back (therefore removing the biggest weapons the Stone had in the war), and be back home in time for dinner; yet what actually happened was that he sees a glimpse of the explosion and immediately thinks he has to develop a Jutsu to counter it. B) Now that one makes no sense the most. You say teenage Minato can face all Bijuus at the same time, yet he in his prime died to Kurama alone? If he supposedly could one-shot Kurama like Hashirama did, then the show would never happen in the first place (also, this would mean Madara would get stomped by Edo Minato, yet that never happens). Let me guess, he was again too "mentally nerfed" to do any of that? Chapter 503 Hokage Minato outright states he was running out of Chakra after teleporting the 9-Tails Bijuu bomb once and completely drained after doing it twice, yet somehow you argue his younger self has enough Chakra to tank all 9 at once if he just knew how to do it, seriously? Wake up, stop meatriding him for 3 seconds and face the facts shown in the manga C) This overhyped "flee on sight" order only applies to regular Ninja, it is absurdly clear stronger ones didn't have to follow it as shown in this very same chapter, yet Minato fanboys seem to forget that fact whenever convenient. Just use your brain, even after the 2nd and 3rd Ninja War, Hashirama was still considered GOD OF SHINOBI, and not Minato, which is a much more impressive feat than this overhyped order ever was. D) Saying Hashirama was only good at sealing Bijuu is a clear moving the goalpost fallacy, because the initial argument was that Swag first stated Hashirama isn't known for having Sealing Jutsu, which is proven objectively wrong, so the goalpost is then moved to "Hashirama doesn't have Sealing Jutsu, except ones involving Bijuu" to avoid being proven wrong, which is ironic considering your base argument for Minato being as strong as Hashirama comes from a Bijuu's statement. Besides, saying Hashirama doesn't have any other Sealing Jutsu is pure speculation and actually extremely unlikely due to the fact he was close to the Uzumaki Clan, just recall that his Deity Gates are good enough to seal Edo Madara, who isn't a Bijuu as far as I know.
