I am sorry but the expression "No video, it didn't happen" applies. The feat you are basing his strength on was from a newspaper headline in the background. Did the reporter see him lift a whole plate? Would it be possible to lift a plate? If the force needed to lift a tectonic plate (a major plate is any plate with an area greater than 20 million km2) was exerted to the surface area of even Superman's whole body he would simply push through it. He would be like a knife point on something a few km across not millions of km. Not to mention that in lifting a plate, Superman would do more damage than the earthquake he was trying to stop. Superman lifting a plate would be more newsworthy than any of the events in either of the movies. More likely the reporter was just saying Superman moved a lot of dirt to stop an earthquake.

@jlogan22287 жыл бұрын
what gets me on the space ship thing is people say thats a "limit" he has bc for one second he shows strain 1. in MOS he held up an oil rig much heavier than that BEFORE realizing his true power 2. Straining to hold something bulky and akward when you dont want it to drop and be crushed and straining bc it is heavy are two different things. You can clearly see supes readjust and casually walk with the thing like its nothing then the next scene is him dragging an artic tanker ship across the ice like it isnt even there. The strain he has holding the rocket up initially would be that same a normal person would have carrying a large empty cardboard box and having it catch the wind. Its not strain bc its too heavy its strain bc the item is akward and you dont want it to break.

@guyhaskins38296 жыл бұрын
Dre H no he isn't maybe on leaving out the ship, but Superman is never shown moving that tectonic plate, never, not one context on that picture plus it is hard to even notice that paper in the background. I didn't even notice about it, hardly anyone did, and it it was in the background hidden away. That's no feat unless we actually see him doing it, or at least a context of Superman on that paper that would be real evidence. That's why most people still consider Routh stronger than Cavill there is no true evidence of him performing that feat, it's probably a homage or nod to Reeves first movie as Snyder never meant for that to be taken seriously as it was hidden away obscured in the right background for a couple of seconds anyone could have briefly turned away and missed that or not noticed it meaning it's not relevant. This guy is just a hard-core Cavill fan, not a normal superman fan as this never been used as real proof an any real thread or analysis vs videos.
@Dre-yd2xh6 жыл бұрын
"thats no feat unless we can see him doing it? what? just because we didn't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen, use your brain, you think everything that happens doesn't actually happen just cause you didn't see it? so it obviously did happen, why else would it be a big story I the paper in big bold letters if it didn't happen, that makes absolutely no sense

Hectoruno "shifts"
@gustavramirez28917 жыл бұрын
Plus, Superman's superstrength traditionally also exerts an invisible binding force-field, which keeps gigantic things that he is moving/lifting from falling apart (due to lacking the necessary structural integrity). Hence, Reeve's Superman was able to lift the entire frozen surface of a large lake without it falling apart in his hands, and Routh's Superman was able to lift a Manhattan-sized island without it collapsing around him (and him just falling through it). Therefore it is not at all illogical to assume that Cavill's Superman exerts the same binding force field when necessary, hence the tectonic plate remained together when he shifted it.

100+ class, there's a misconception that class 100 means 100 tons. That's not the case, it's just to show (approximately) how much stronger he is than other characters. Not in a linear fashion, but still. Anyways, I'd say this Superman is class 100+ in lifting strength, not too sure about striking strength. Since those two things are completely different.
@VunderGuy7 жыл бұрын
There's also a misconception that said rating from Marvel is anything more than just promotional material. I mean, no takes it seriously in the writers or editing desks at Marvel. They really don't. It's just an artifact for when they tried retroactively trying to impose sense on their work and it's really defunct, even if the system works in a non-linear fashion and is more to show whose greater than who in terms of strength in a broader, more ambiguous way than using tons.

Did not realize DCEU Supes was comic level. This guy could actually hang with Pre-Flashpoint and Nu52 Superman (inexperience notwithstanding). *WAY* more math than I expected, but great job on the video!
@VunderGuy7 жыл бұрын
"This guy could actually hang with Pre-Flashpoint and Nu52 Superman" No he fucking couldn't. This feat isn't even a typical tuesday for Post-Crises/PreNew52 Superman or New 52 Superman at their best. Tectonic plates are NOTHING compared to actually moving and busting planets, both of which requires orders of magnitude more power to accomplish and accomplish quickly (as we've seen). While great for adaptions in other media, it really isn't much by any mainstream DC comic book universe and DCEU Supes would get wrecked if he thought something as tame as tectonic plate shifting would get him other than a swift kick to the super dick by the still considerably more powerful Supermen in mainstream comic universes.
@batfan19397 жыл бұрын
VunderGuy The best feats I've seen for pre-Flashpoint Superman are moving the moon in and out of orbit, and destroying the two War Worlds during _Our Worlds at War_ by pulling them into each other. I have no problem believing DCEU Supes could do the same. Early on, Nu52 was pulling feats like holding up the weight of the Earth for several days continuously, but later on he seemed pretty similar to Pre-Flashpoint Superman. What makes you think Cavill's so far behind?

That tectonic plate feat is often labeled as an outlier in strength debates from what I've seen, and I can see why. It makes this Superman unbelievably powerful, which so far hasn't been done justice on screen in the DC movies, making people believe it's just something thrown in without much thought by the writers.

I guess Gubz may need to do his verses Superman episode again.

The Chistopher Reeve Superman would win again since he was able to push the freaking moon out of orbit. Gubz low--balled both of them.

What helps him do huge feats like these might mostly be after he discovers his flight power. As opposed to simply his muscles which would break the surface he pushes from.

@fbiuzz7 жыл бұрын
6:45 Eh...I kinda doubt that tectonic plate counts. Since you know, that is from a newsreel which could be lying. Plus if Superman was really that strong than his fight with Doomsday (which I doubt he was holding back) should have destroyed the earth.
@lolon17257 жыл бұрын
fbiuzz That is why he was holding back he could have destroy earth.
@hennggueljuancarlos86037 жыл бұрын
fbiuzz Doomsday had the blood of a warrior Zod plus superman was severely weakened before the fight by the nuke and the kryptonite gas.
@fbiuzz7 жыл бұрын
Okay. Then tell me what about Doomsday? Because I doubt he was holding back (or even has the concept of holding back) and he is clearly stronger than Supes, yet the Earth is not destroyed.
@ChadBenjamin7 жыл бұрын
Because people don't like destruction. They complained when Zod and Superman destroyed Metropolis in Man of Steel, so they had to tone things down in Dawn of Justice.
@hennggueljuancarlos86037 жыл бұрын

I suspect the headline about the tectonic plate is a callback to the scene in Superman (1978) where Superman repairs the damage Luthor's nuclear weapons have caused to the San Andraes fault. I don't take issue with you including this but I would not for that reason.
@theattritionist99816 жыл бұрын
In the Batman v. Superman tie in comic they actually show him doing it, and those comics are counted as canon within the films so I would say yes it does count

how about this: Those movies employ people to make them. Those people have families that, one would assume, like to eat. In those families are kids like your self. Piracy causes loss, which slows down the economy as it is currently structured. When those studios loose money they dont invest as much. That means less people have employment, who then can not spend as much money on extra ( if any) which then slows down the economy some more. This causes a loop of economic loss that leads to recession, then depression. All because your selfish ass pirates movies and game in stead of playing them.

Tectonic stuff was just pure bulshit ...the max strength he presents and also shown in the movies is as presented when he dragged that huge ship across the ice. That one is pretty awesome on its own. There is no way he can ever move a tectonic plate due to him being so small. If he exerts enough force to do so he would have simply creating a hole in that plate. Too much force to a too much tiny spot of the overall matter

Actually Batman may in fact beat a de-powered Superman but it wouldn't be easy. Superman is trained in Kryptonian martial arts. He also has access to the knowledge of many worlds, some of which would certainly have a system of fighting skills. I'm sure he has picked up much on earth as well. He doesn't use his martial arts skills because he doesn't usually have to.

In MOS he also falls straight through a mountain peak, unscathed. So not only did he successfully break through the rock (heavy and strong), he was able to do do it without any effects on himself. It is more impressive than him breaking through beams in the fight with Zod, so it deserves a place here.
