This might sound a little weird, but I was thinking to myself "If this is an illustration of chord progressions cross-instrumentally (and probably cross-culturally,) I wonder what sound he'll use to be neutral to everybody? Certainly not piano, those are restricted to certain types of Western music. Maybe a synthesis of all instruments? Nah that sounds stupid. Oh a sine wave! That sounds neutral enough!" And then you go and play the examples by sine wave. What a read!
