This deserves more views. I'm trying to figure how and why math rock time signature changes work, music like Covet's album Effloresce and Chon's Homey have all of these crazy time signatures and I just cant rap my head around how to compose like that.. I almost feel like I could write the time signature changes out if I knew why I wanted them in certain places conceptually, and then perform to the click.

I used to produce using an old version of Samplitude. Not suggesting I'm pro or anything, but we used to just change the denominator to achieve the same number of bars per minute, where only the value of the beat changes. It was super helpful when changing between different time signatures without having to change the tempo. Getting back into it, I'm struggling to figure out the alternative way (now that the software has been updated and remove the feature). I'm in wtf mode right now.

falkor has one of the most messed up time signature uses and it's beyond me how the time signatures were written. Yvette is a fucking genius.

Wonderfully edifying lesson on this fascinating subject, which is often, difficult to explain to others. This is the most erudite explanation I have ever seen. Thank you.

I knew I recognised Hemiola from somewhere. My piano teacher told me about it 15 years ago.

I can't stand doing the Maths in music. Love the linguistic side of it with the fancy words in Italian. Speak it fluently. I have perfect pitch, great technical abilities but cannot for the life of me abide the Maths side of stuff.😴
