I haven’t seen it yet (I live in Europe can’t get it here) but I’ve watched several people’s thoughts on it and they seem to be consistently saying the same things. I’m just terrified that if I get into it the CW will ruin it with awful writing and gender politics like their other shows. The reason why I found batwahman and the flash hilarious was cuz I never cared for it in the beginning and just watched reviews where they were more entertaining. But Superman is different, he’s always been my favorite hero but he’s been done so dirty so many times at this point. I hope the CW keep their shit together when it comes to this Superman as he’s literally saving them from going out of business altogether.

I honestly hadn't felt this way about Superman since the DCAU animated series or even Christopher Reeves. I never liked Cap until the MCU, fell out of love with Spider-Man and back in with Insomniac's, and now Superman with this show. All these characters and how pure each of them are- alongside comic's Silver Surfer since I read Requiem(I never cried reading a comic until that story), are the characters who inspire me to be better because they're flawed like you and I. I love feeling the sympathy and sometimes even sadness or hate from a particular villain to emotionally counteract the hero's awe-inspiring righteousness. When you have oppositional and heartaching tension between these forces of good and evil, these always breed the best superhero stories

The CW is just a platform. The CW doesn't make shows. Writing staffs, cast and crew do. The CW just gives them a place to do it. The CW has some impact on who gets to do what, how many episodes they get, and they might have some impact on budgets (not sure if that's handled by the CW or by Berlanti Productions or what), and they might lay down certain restrictions, but ultimately the network is not telling the stories. I don't get why people act like the CW is a singular mind. Besides, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow both had very strong fourth seasons, for very different reasons, in my opinion, and it was easy to tell the writers (in the case of Supergirl, the new showrunners who had had a season to figure things out and move the pieces into position) were doing what they wanted and excited to do it. The fact that something is on the CW in no way prevents it from being entertaining, meaningful, smart, whatever. And Stargirl set a precedent with the more cinematic look and wider aspect ratio, which Superman & Lois is continuing. It's just kind of weird to me that people treat CW like a person when it's a distribution platform. Shows can be vastly different from season to season, and there's even more difference from show to show.

What we got from man of steel was just that... "man of steel"... he wasn't superman. He had the suit and the powers but none of the love and determination, the fact he didn't even try to empathize with zod who lost his planet and everything of meaning to him before reaching a point where he had to snap his neck is a betrayal of the character even kingdom come superman wouldn't reach that low and he fought full power end game boss shazam didn't come to that conclusion Henry Caville woulda have been an amazing superman.... but that writing... it wasn't superman.... just a man of steel

I stopped watching the Arrowverse years ago, and even the brief Superman appearances didn't excite me. I didn't like the suit design and I wasn't sold on the casting. I was so skeptical that I had no plans to watch Superman & Lois. Then I saw Episode 11. And fell in love with the show and this version of the characters. I'm happy to eat my words, because the casting is perfect. Tyler and Bitsie are doing an amazing job as Clark/Superman and Lois. Obviously I've now gone back to watch all the episodes and I'm so impressed. It's got a very unique feel that is setting is apart from the rest of the Arrowverse shows, and I think that's great. They are clearly going for a more grounded approach and having The Flash show up might seem like it's a different show tonally. I suppose they will likely crossover with other Arrowverse shows at some point, but for now, I like this approach. My only concern is how the rest of the season goes, as I don't really want an Evil Superman arc. I'm hoping Clark's message to Lois was coded and that not all is as it seems. I'm truly, honestly, pleasantly surprised by the show and can't wait to see the rest of Season 1.
