I started swimming 3x a week then 5, and now I’m at 7 times a week. Some people were telling me I needed to take a break but I was sure I could swim everyday. Glad to find this video! Some days (not very often uneven swim twice, morning/evening) or do another sport. Swimming has changed my life. I have lost 16 kg (35 lbs), sleep better, stop snoring, and helps me with my mental health :)

This is for all of you who want confirmation , I'm in my mid sixties and I swim every day, accept Christmas and Easter because The YMCA IS closed , but nevertheless I can swim for 45 min to an hour , and I also lift weights after my swim , it's a beautiful experience if you can find the discipline to start .

@@L.A.G.- if you meant to get abs about 4-5 months if you meant to swim about 45min. I did those 10min ab workouts each day for abt 2months and I could see my abs but they weren’t as defined as they’re now. Most important thing is consistency. If you’re doing lifts too like dead lift squats they’re all dynamic and if you stay consistent and losing body fat you’ll still get abs. I hope that clears it up 😭

@@morphreynard6764my mom had my brother and I (she made sure we each knew how to swim around the age of two) so when we were kids, she’d go to the local Y around 7pm and swim laps while my brother and I hung out and played in the free swim area. As we got older, we wanted to keep up with mom and swim laps too. That was probably 3 times a week in the evenings we did that. She also worked full time and yes my dad was around, but we wanted to go swim with mom rather than stay home and watch TV with dad or worse, chores lol. So basically if having kids is the hurdle, I can tell you- the best thing you can give your kids is a) an example of discipline with physical activity and b) swimming lessons. We also slept like logs the nights she took us swimming because we’d be zonked by the time we got home.

Years ago I had a spinal injury that wiped me out. Swimming strengthened my core and surrounding muscles to heal. Then in Feb 2017 I had another fall injury. Doctors are doing me absolutely no good. I'm hoping I can repeat healing though my injuries all these years later are worse. My pain level decreases considerably when I am buoyant..What do you think ? I actually know very little about fitness even though I've been physically active my whole life.

You can do the same for running. Ran twice a day for 5 of 7 and everyday of the week. Nothing builds cardio like running. My watch lets me know that I'm not doing cardio when biking or swimming at a comparable level because it's hard to do so with so little breaths or when you take breaks on downhills on the bike
@luammerces2461
@luammerces2461 Жыл бұрын
I don't think compatitive swimmers world agree with that.
@krismine99
@krismine99 Жыл бұрын
@@luammerces2461 they probably wouldn't fully agree with that statement, but I think you generally have a more difficult time getting in cardio (backstroke is the exception) because you'll struggle to get enough oxygen to support that heart rate for that amount of time. For running to max out cardio I take forty breaths a minute and due to gravity force my heart to work harder to circulate blood. For swimming you're probably taking a third to half as many breaths and don't fight gravity. So even if they get in a degree of cardio, it's not comparable to that produced by running is the gist

Hello everybody, im about to join the world of swimming. I used to go to the gym 6 times a week and did it for about a year and 3 months, and have already changed my physique. However, I was diagnosed with pressure problems and, therefore, I can't go to the gym anymore. I'm still unsure if swimming is for me, I really want to keep growing my physique and I'm scared of loosing what i've been working hard to get. Any advice and answers to if i'll lose my physique is apreciated (I'm worried about shoulders the most), thanks guys! 😊
