Regarding Pewdiepie, love him or hate him, he practically wrote the rule book on how to make entertaining and engaging lets plays. Not only that, he also survived through several different phases of youtube, while switching his own content up. In many ways, people don't really give him enough credit for achieving what he has. Someone might get to a few million subs on luck and tenacity, but sustaining this kind of momentum at 65 million subscribers is really fucking crazy.

I want to slightly correct you there. T series dont make the music videos by themselves. In India, most of the music is made for movies and thus very few musicians work by themselves to create an album and upload it to youtube. Almost every musician makes songs for bollywood movies. These are funded and made by movie producers and directors. T-series is responsible for producing just music, and not the video. Then the movie makers give rights to distribute the music video freely for marketing of the upcoming movie to most popular music channel, which happens to be Tseries.

He is one single person who makes the videos. Of course he might or might not have someone editing his videos and then uploading them. But his videos usually only include him and sometimes guests. However, it's his channel only one person owns it. So he is a KZbinr. T-Series doesn't have someone that is known as the face of the channel it's a company that just makes what seems like just music videos.

I still think once T-series surpasses pewdiepie that pewdiepie's accomplishments are 1000x more impressive. Most of the time when talking about the most subscribed youtube channels people ignore branded channels and music video channels such as Vevo and focus on actual creators. In my eyes pewdiepie will still be #1 once T-series surpases him. It also makes me wonder if a singular channel will be able to dominate Indian viewers once the content actually matures and the bar is higher and better, because in reality most Indian internet users are still in 2010 internet.

I’m only 22 and in the early 2000s I was an elementary schooler, so the more ‘extra’ action movies came off as super badass to me. No one actually believes any person can actually throw a car, but I’d argue that Indian culture really values seeing people live out a ‘larger-than-life’ or superhuman persona in their movies. Some people go crazy for it (myself included, if I like the choreography) and some others watch it from a comedic POV (also myself included lmao). As far as the dancing: business-wise, Bollywood soundtracks in India are the equivalent to like musicians putting out albums in America. So to incorporate these songs into movies, they introduce cheesy dance choreo to go with it. Not always (esp for serious films; some examples are “Black” and “Kahaani”), but for the most part that + a fun atmosphere is why they’re there. Usually I just skip it if I’m not watching in a theatre.

Suddenly the expensive internet became accessible to all. Now talking about t series growth. T series was always a very popular channel in India. They produce and post songs on their KZbin channel. Much like the vevo of india. As more n more Indians came online and started watching youtube more people subbed to them. And this is not only with t series but with every other Indian yt channel. Ever heard of bb ki vines? Around one year ago he was at 3-4 mil sub and now at around 10 mil. And I m pretty sure he'll cross the likes of Logan Paul and ksi's soon. Other channels like amit bandhana, technical guruji are also gaining traction lately. Now why not every video gets huge number of views. It's because their channel is mainly focused on songs and other videos are fillers. More like behind the scene videos. Actually many people from Pakistan, Bangladesh, nepal, sri Lanka etc also listen to hindi music. (fact: Punjabi is Canada's third language) Now why they have less Twitter followers. The reason being that Twitter is still not very popular in India. In urban areas you might find some users but in rural there are hardly anyone using Twitter. (I am using yt since 2009 and when I used to tell people about it they had misconception that it's a porn site 😂)

I couldn't care less if a genuine indian content creator topped the charts. Good for him. I am, however, upset that a faceless, soulless, soft-porn music company is topping the charts. Indian or not, it's not right. It's not what youtube is supposed to be. Also, no one is jealous of India.
