@@AnixCo1990I would say they are beautiful in their own ways. 101 is more elegant and unconventional. Empire State Building is breathtakingly large and simple to look at.

as a civil engineering student it is very important to know how structural damping work.. it is the best example of passive tuned mass damper

I love how you explain Taipei 101, and how they built Taipei 101 to handle strong winds and earthquakes. Thanks!

Im confused.... how are other countries still stupid enough to not recreate the hell out of this magnificent and grand building. Why are our dampers electric that fail in winds... why are our elevators taking 3 business days to get to the top. This is truly marvelous its beautiful. Gifted are the brains behind this.
@TheInfernalwing
@TheInfernalwing Жыл бұрын
your answer is in the video.. it costs a lot. The damper used in Taipei 101 can cost an amount enough to build another building. maybe 2 or more buildings in some 3rd world country.

This has got to be one of the ugliest skyscrapers in the world. It does not look like a pagoda because each section of the roof does not shed water like the pagoda roof should but rather each section is designed upside down and retains water. To the untrained eyes, the ornamentation is superficial, almost Po-Mod like and takes away the simplicity of the design. The engineered damper system is probably the only special element of the building.
