Taiwan also learned a lesson from SARS and started their protocol back in Dec 2019 from the moment news of this strange “pneumonia” started coming out of China. They didn’t believe what China said and went into full scale preventive mode months before we did. We in Canada went through SARS yet we forgot about how to deal with an epidemic.

Taiwanese all wear masks, too. (and everyone usually has masks at home even during normal times.) despite what the WHO says, masks clearly help. 50-80% of transmissions are from no/mild symptoms ppl -- if everyone wears masks, then you greatly reduce spreaders. and tho surgical masks are not very effective at stopping aerolized transmission, they do still help -- that's why nurses wear them. if every single person wears a mask, 75% of them will still have had effective protection against aeorilized transmission -- as long as the transmission period was a few moments (e.g. an elevator ride). ONLY reason WHO advises against masks is to make people not hoard them, and to make sure healthcare workers can find them. but in an ideal situation where everyone has masks (e.g. Taiwan), then there is NO REASON why you wouldn't wear a mask. seriously. go look at the places that wear masks. China. HK. Taiwan. Singapore. Korea. then go look at places without masks. Italy. UK. France. hell, compare a city with LOTS of masks (Vancouver) to a neighbor with no masks (Seattle) -- Seattle has 5x more cases and 11x more deaths. MASKS HELP.

The only country that doesn’t recognize Taiwan as a country is China, and since China is good friends with most politicians from most governments, then the other countries follows. However, if you intend to spread lies and fabricated truth against Taiwan, you are a state-sponsored commentator. For instance, Taiwan is never a British or American colony. Taiwan had been governed by Portuguese, Dutch and Japanese. Pan-green supporters tend to consider Taiwan was under Chinese oppression in martial law era, although the suzerain was ROC, a Chinese country established in 1912. As a Taiwanese high school student. I would say the situation is kinda different between seniors in highschools and kids in elementary schools and what you have seen in the video. Teachers and parents from elementary schools put a large effort conveying kids correct concept and telling them what they should do while facing COVID-19, and kids will also obey to teachers' even if they don't understand the reason. As the matter of fact, kids has been well protected by adults, and elementary schools has became the most safety area among all places. On the contrary, a lot high school students are lack of alertness and don't know the danger that they are facing. On top of that, students deeply believed that Community Infection won't happen in Taiwan, and COVID-19 will no longer exist soon, which cause the phenomenon that no one wear facial masks at school even if the government keep emphasize the importance of masks, and I believe that is a big problem that will cause a irreversible epidemic situation here in Taiwan. I think Taiwanese students, government and all the citizens should face and to deal with the problem as soon as possible before the worst situation happens.

THANK GOD! I finally heard the correct term "physical distancing" instead of the questionable "social distancing." What does social distancing actually mean? How can I be socially distant? Am I autistic? I know I can be physically distant as well as emotionally distant, but socially distant? Even though I am more of an introvert, I do have my set of friends and have kept them for decades. Social distancing is just another NLP in this PC culture where more accurate words used in the past are banned while new terms, with vague and even contradictory meanings, are used to mask the negative connotations of certain words.

I admire how well Taiwan has reacted to Covid-19. As far as the US goes. If only Washington wasn’t so focused on the impeachment trial and election then maybe we would have been better prepared. Had they put travel restrictions sooner and started increasing production on test kits, masks and respirators at the beginning of January maybe it wouldn’t be such a mess.

At this stage, no one is better than one another. Taiwan is 289 times smaller than us which means they can respond to situations faster than Canada. But we do can learn from different countries on what they are doing right and push our government to fix the system

@NoOne Cares It's should be easier for Canada to respond to virus spreading control with it's vast territory that people don't have close contact with one another. On the contrary, Taiwan is 289 times smaller with 23.78 million people live and work so closely. It's difficult to keep a proper "social distance" to prevent spreading.

Support Taiwan!🇹🇼 Taiwanese government and people have always been helping the world for such a long time every time disasters happen. It’s a small country but they always be the kindest and donate the most money!!! Taiwanese people always donates an unbelievably great amount of money. Most of the time even more than those bigger countries, could you believe that? They are not rich, yet they always lend their help hands without a doubt and without asking anything back. So it’s time for all of us to help Taiwan gain more recognition it totally deserves! Help Taiwan be safe from those constant threatening come from the evil government of China! Give justice to Taiwan! WHO is ridiculous but we cannot be ridiculous. Without any help, Taiwanese people has been always fighting on their own. Can you imagine this? I’ve never seen any country so kind like Taiwan.(and I’ve never seen any government so evil like China. I’ve never seen any organization so heartless like WHO.) Though Taiwan they are doing good so far, no one country can bear isolation for that long, so just like all other countries in the world Taiwan they totally deserve help!!!!! Stop isolating Taiwan!!! Stop doing the wrong thing, start support Taiwan to make the world a better place!🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼 And when this pandemic pass, visit Taiwan or perhaps live there for a period of time, experience it yourself then you’ll know why people love Taiwan.♥️♥️♥️

Just wow for Taiwan. Every country should have a talk with their president specially U.S and philippines maybe they can brainstorm and comeout with a great solution to each countries major concerns. Here in Vancouver I think everyone is doing a great job with abiding to the rules just 2 things that maybe should be improved, 1. some stores still accepts cash. They should allow cards only just for now. 2. most of the people dont wear mask, Japan already made an experiment where it shows that wearing a mask helps to prevent a person from getting the virus. I think everyone should wear one but we dont know where to buy though.
@jnyylee
@jnyylee 4 жыл бұрын
The main purpose of a mask is to prevent “spreading”. A home made one will do that job well. (Only a N95 grade medical mask gets to protect the wearer well, and they’re strictly reserved for medical workers.) It takes a simple government order demanding universal mask wearing in public to get this done.

Don't get your hopes up folks, we had a 4 days holiday and a lot of people decided to ignore our govt's advise and when out to popular spots... people are furious at how ignorant and selfish these people are, and while our govt said these people are to self-isolate for 14 days, a survey from a kindergarten suggests that even tho half the students said they have been out to various popular spots, when contacting their parents, all of them said no.
