was essentially housebound a year ago and would be disabled from 20 minutes of easy recumbent exercise for the day. yesterday- i clocked in 14 thousand steps. walked to and from a cafe with a new friend and explored the city with my brother and still had copious energy to cook myself a great meal when i got home. i had a wonderful day. im so grateful to be enjoying my life. this stuff works

I actually had to do something that kinda terrified me....driving in rush hour traffic. My husband needed me to pick him up while his car was being serviced and it just so happened his appt was during rush hour. So I had a long chat with myself, said I was only perceiving something horrible would go wrong and that I was a good driver, capable of managing traffic. Of course, it all went well and I was able feel good about myself and relax. I have more confidence now ...... I'm not broken, I just have this scared kid living inside me.

I decided I want to do yoga and I am doing it. I committed by buying the yoga mat and blocks. It was difficult the first few weeks, but I am really enjoying "this bold action". Dan's calm reassurance script on page 128 of his book is helpful as you try new things.

A little breakthrough moment I had thanks to a very cute dog… I was walking in woods the other day and saw a very cute and fluffy small dog stopped, pooping. The poor mite had diarrhea which the owner was valiantly trying to pick up. Apparently she, the dog, had been badly spooked up the trail by some kids throwing bangers on the ground and that why her stomach was upset. The owner pointed out that her tail was down, and normally it’s up and wagging on walks. It struck me… Big reminder that fear causes physical symptoms (upset stomach in her case) and that is NORMAL! All people, and many animals, experience this. Fear/stress causes everything from feeling a bit queasy to heart attacks. The body’s alarm systems are a totally normal function that we don’t usually worry about. All that’s happened to us is those alarm systems have got a bit too enthusiastic. First, they’re over-sensitive, going off in response to normal things that shouldn’t trigger them, but we can retrain them to forget those associations. Secondly, the bells have become set too loud - our symptoms are more colourful than normal. Most importantly, we’re setting them off and keeping them ringing loud with our fear. This reminder that it’s just a normal system that I’ve trained badly but can fix helped with my fear that day. As for the doggo, she was going to be scared till she was out of those woods. But the owner will keep bringing her there, and at first she might be a bit nervous but in time she’ll feel safe there again. Her body will learn that the woods aren’t scary! They just became inadvertently associated with fear. As for me, I spent much of last year housebound with symptoms and, more importantly, fear. Now I’m walking a few miles in those woods every day! I’ve only reclaimed the nice, non-stressful things in life like those walks so far, but I’m a work in progress and enormously grateful for how far I’ve come.

i’ve taking a bolt action and signed myself up for a boxing class Monday next week. Since I did that my right arm is hurting more than it ever did. And at first I didn’t understand, but when I remembered oh yes, I fear that boxing class, yes, my body reacts because my brain is perceiving danger. But I am very looking forward to this boxing class! And at the same time I’m terrified. So I will go there, with my enthusiasm, and also with my fear yes, she can come too, and I will bring some common sense. So I won’t be pushing too hard through all kinds of pain or whatever. Well, I’ll let you know how it went afterwards 😅

I have been doing this & have gotten so much of my life back.. except psychologically I say to myself " I want To do X , I'm going to give it a go & enjoy it as much as I can " . I have often felt anxious beforehand , but then exhilarated afterwards for doing it & overcoming the fear. And have felt really proud of myself & delighted that I have done another thing that I wanted to do to live my full joyous life.. Sometimes I have gotten symptoms, but mostly I haven't. Yesterday , I did a full class of yoga for the first time ( over an hour ) & got symptoms afterwards. I looked after myself , reacted as unbothered as possible and handled it really well.I also said to myself that getting symptoms was evidence that I was moving on with my life & progressing . The sky is the limit with what we can do . I will do yoga again , but I'll do 1/2 an hour & build it up . I have bought the book Dan but haven't gotten around to reading it yet . Looking forward to it- but I have to say , I love your videos . I always glean a gem from each one I listen to , that tends to resonate with me. 🙂😊🙂😊🙂

Hi Steve, can I suggest something to you? If you download the free google earth, you can “travel” to most places, while slowly getting used to it, while having fun. When you land on a street, it’s like you’re there. I have dizziness, but not from that, because my brain got very used to it. If you decide to try it and have questions, feel free to ask me. I’ve been to most countries on it and can suggest some cool places!

I can honestly tell you guys as someone who has suffered with bobbing/rocking/floating sensations for 2 years, 24/7 with no change in my pattern for an extra year, doing extreme things such as traveling on planes, skydiving, going on a parasail - even going into a wildfire area recently to check on if someone's house burnt down or not - you can be bold all you want and have no fear, but you can still have physical symptoms. Putting yourself into any type of situation, yes, you can become fearless and bold but that doesn't necessarily mean the physical symptoms will stop. I had to take my specific situation from a realistic perspective when I got to year 2 that mine probably won't go away despite me doing everything "correctly." But I am still living life and just dealing with it every day. I really don't know what to say except that it depends on the person and you have to accept the fact that the physical symptoms may or may not go away.

I believe you will get better. Keep searching for the answer. In my humble opinion our symptoms may actually be a deficiency or allergic reaction. However, I'm sure PDS is part of it. The body can take a long time to heal. I'm glad you're keeping on.

Watch my fast start playlist to understand: DansFastStart.com Watch success stories: PainFreeYouSuccess.com Consider my book: PainFreeYouBook.com Or my group coaching: PainFreeYouGroup.com Teaching the brain you are not broken is way more important than just living normally. DAN!! amazing video ❤thankyou !! And what's crazy is, honestly for me this is like a sign from the universe ✨️😉 I made the decision to start up a we casual market stall a few days ago....I'm currently managing working 1-2 half days a week in a vet clinic, but feel like i aren't ready to do more than that and have felt a little plateaud for a while. I am pretty creative with arts n crafts as a hobby , and just kinda decided a few days ago to burrow some money on some stuff to create a market stall just for 1 or two Sundays a month (more as a hobby and way to get out in the world more), nothing crazy for most ppl to do I'm sure but FOR ME (recovering from cfs tms) this is massive to even contimplate trying, let alone fully jump in and commit to, buying stuff and everything 😅 i was excited for a couple days and pretty confident, but that's cos I'm feeling a bit better than usual physically last few days too so confidence is always easier for me to muster then 😅 but the excitement is definitely mixed with anxiety today (old fears of "not being able to manage it" popped up and thinking omg i need to returnthat stuff😅) seeing this encouraging video on this exact topic right at this moment I believe is a sign to trust ive got this ❤😊 thanks Dan, you legend

Even with MdDS, I went to a Japanese restaurant with my family. As I have said before in the comments, I never took myself out of life. Sure, I have limited it considerably the past 6 years with this condition. The issue is that the symptoms don't seem to get any better. It is like I am stuck regardless of what I do.

Are you still scared of it? I have five different vertigo/dizziness diagnoses (it’s all just TMS). Yes I had to get back to life, but I also had to be less and less bothered by the symptoms as I did it. It only started to get better when I could be genuinely indifferent to whether it would go away, get better, or get worse.

Thanks for your content I really appreciate the time you put into it. I strongly disagree on the just eat principle. For some of us we can’t just eat what we want. We have real sensitivity to these foods that we used to could eat. The goal is to fix the real issue and then eat them. I guarantee you that there are more listening than me that’ll really ruin their time by either becoming debilitated by the food, hospitalized or worse. Now if it’s a perceived sensitivity that’s mental then I’ll agree with you but few people that are highly sensitive or allergic to certain foods aren’t perceiving the issue, we live it day by day and it’s like walking in a minefield.

It’s been almost two weeks and I’ve heard from a couple older friends that it takes a full three weeks. I’m struggling with symptoms and wondering what’s the flu and what is TMS. Yes, I totally agree that this is an answer. But.... if you have severe anxiety, for instance, and doing whatever the activity is sparks a big panic attack, telling yourself it's just the brain isn't going to cut it. The effects are going to be so distressing it's going to be hard to make yourself do it again. The easier option is to avoid doing it. I'm not saying that avoidance is a better option, or should be an option at all. But a realistic acceptance of what a severe panic attack involves for someone would be useful too. It's not just a bit of discomfort and a few butterflies in the stomach. Sometimes 'bold' action isn't the answer. Sometimes it has to be slowly slowly for it to be possible at all.

Yes, I think leading with love and compassion for ourself and our body is important. Not pushing through when it feels wrong. I think only sitting when there is no pain isn't teaching the brain that sitting is safe. Maybe try sitting through some pain calmly telling your brain sitting is safe and not causing any damage. But don't push through if the pain is too intense, as this will increase your fear. Keep giving yourself messages of safety. I've managed to increase how long I can sit from 20 mins to several hours by doing it this way. Hope this helps.
