About trauma and chronic pain: you're so correct. Truly believing that I was safe and not subject to horrors of the past anymore really did help. It took me a few years of consistency, but this video is right. To any viewers: take it from someone who knows. I dealt with CFS and FMS. It's possible to recover.

Thank you for this, it's encouraging. I think with severe trauma it can take more work to convince the brain of safety, but I do absolutely believe it's doable. Relaxed, gentle work, that is, not work that creates more stress. I'm happy to hear your recovery story and wish you all the best in your life 🙏

Believe me Dan, when you said "I believe everybody watching this video can get well", I choked up. Coming from an honest, sincere person like you, those words don't sound hollow. Even on a particularly rough day, I tell myself, "remember what Dan said" and I have renewed hope.

I've watched this video more than once. It bring tears to my eyes each time. I was told through religious trauma that I was no good and if I worked on myself I was selfish. Hearing you say the opposite is very healing in itself. Religious trauma convinced me that I needed a savior OUTSIDE myself yet they never swooped in to save me. I've been searching for that savior in many areas and ways not realizing until now that savior is ME.

I like when you said that this is a human condition and we are not special. That really is comforting to know since it is so true. When having symptoms it can feel like nobody else goes through this. It is so important that we know this is just a normal human condition just firing off false sensations that are harmless. Thanks for your encouraging message Dan!!

I don't comment often but I just wanted to thank you for your video's. First I wasn't sure if it would work for me but your video's gave me comfort and I gave it a try. After not being able to do anything for six months not even walk or even hold a spoon and being in and out of the hospital I can now do normal things again. I still sometimes get the pain and it took weeks before I was able to notice it getting better but your advice to comfort myself got me trough. I am so thankfull for your video's they gave me my life back, without them I don't think I would have bin able to keep going. I'm not there yet but I'm trusting the proces and already happy with the steps i have made. For anyone going trough this I am so sorry and I know it's hard but you can do this.

This is really helping me on an emotionally "colourful" day. Putting my hand on my heart, and realising that im safe and that I've actually been safe for much, much more of my life than I've been in danger (some pretty challenging experiences early in my life.) That realisation went in very deep, and I feel I need to keep reminding myself of it for a while until it fully/permanently lands with my brain/ nervous system. Thank you Dan for your brilliant blend of practicality and deep kindness, and for sharing your knowledge and experience.

So glad this one popped up! It brought tears to my eyes - thank you so much for having faith and belief in us, Dan! I had a thought whilst watching this video. I've never fully understood what "co-dependent" means but must accept that to a degree it applies to me (and, from what I've read, to most people who've had a rocky upbringing eg alcoholic parents etc). I had a bit of a realisation - a co-dependent person will lack belief in themselves; they (we) will be seeking reassurance from others, they will be looking to others to be "rescued". They will always look without and not within for comfort, safety etc. I think that's why this video moved me so much. I'm not particularly clever at working these things out but does this resonate with anyone else out there and do they have any suggestions how to turn this around? Hope this is helpful. Thanks again, Dan.

When u can get control of the only manifestation u can control and that is the way you feel then and only then everything else will change in your life start with the way u FEEL then symptoms will follow. Today I committed to holding on to the feeling of life is meant to be good I am safe. And no matter how my symptom felt I committed to feeling that response in my head .. at the end of the day my headaches were gone first time in evening for past three weeks no symptoms . Let’s try it again tomorrow comit to safe feeling just play a game with it.
