they make tasline in NZ too. There's a factory in Christchurch. You have to mortgage your house just to afford filling your reel with it. Caught a 7 gill over 200 pounds off the beach here in NZ just yesterday.

Hi Gido. Bbqbob here. Very informative and thanks. Just for the technically minded, Spectra is a trade name for the same product now manufactured by many and varied companies. It's real make-up is universally known as Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene, a carbon compound. Your subscribers ought to know a couple of crucial details. It has a low melting point of around 150C, so don't have it close to camp-fires! Secondly, a number of good 'joining knots' to other types of line are available but never, ever tie a knot in this material as it will part well below its rated break point. For those 4x4 enthusiasts who buy a towline made of this stuff, do not ever tie a knot in it as it is impossible to undo, once heavy load is applied. Ideally, make an eye at each end and use tested shackles. Do NOT use it as a snatch strap as very likely, vehicular damage may occur as it has very low stretch. Thirdly, use a finely serrated blade to cut it because the sharpest knife on the planet will go blunt very quickly. And finally, it is expensive, so be very aware of it's country of origin. Europe, UK and USA are fine but there is at least one country I would not buy it from. Be warned.

I initialy liked it because i could spool around 200mts of 20lb on a 150 size baitcaster and it was realy strong but lately i feel like its not as strong and a little inconsistant. I have nothing to quantify this its just a feeling. I usually order it from busted fishing and they are great. It always arrives early with some stickers a lollie and a hand written thankyou which is recognised and appreciated.

I’ve been using tasline on my reels for a long time now it really is a fantastic product the only thing is nobody stocks 8lb in 300 or 400m spools as don’t like to use backing on my reels Maybe you can have a whisper in there ears to produce there smaller lines in longer rolls

@@MattsFishingEscapes you can catch most any fish on cord handline... too many influencers trying to turn it into an elitist sport for the wealthy. You actually don't need half the stuff they say you do. I catch monster fish all the time using the cheapest stuff out there.

@bushmanphotos if you're out there fishing, you're doing it right ✅️ I have just found that over the years, I've invested in better gear, and it's lasted much longer. Even down to the lines and braid. But agree, it isn't an impediment to catching fish. Tight lines!

@@gidosfishingadventures Milan is a dick. Targeting white pointers is illegal in NZ but after they saw one in the harbor they went out the next day and berleyed the hell out of the bay till they hooked it, then called a TV crew and claimed it was an accident just to get free marketing for their youtube channel. Not the sort of image that does fishing any favors.

2:50 - Im guessing breaking strain listed on the the front is a minimum ?? +/-50% would be pretty unreliable.
@gidosfishingadventures
@gidosfishingadventures 5 ай бұрын
its the average as staded, there not much variation between batches. more like +/- 5% or even less certainly not anywhere near 50% that would have it breaking less than stated !
@teeanahera8949
@teeanahera8949 5 ай бұрын
No, both you and Gido have not understood what average we are talking about here. Their website states clearly the higher breaking strain is the average, NOT the number listed on the front of the spool. Best explained by an example. For the 8lb white, 300m spool, the average breaking strain is 14.7 lb.
