Will United give Erik ten Hag a new contract? Comment Below!
@harrydestaffano5655 ай бұрын
He needs a contract extension and loads of cash for transfers. Sensible. No way! 380 million spent so far. 3 60 million+ buys did not start the cup final. Saturday Ten Hag had a plan, the first time this season.Just 57 goals scored, 58 the previous season. If he repeats this season, then after 6 weeks United will have has 4 defeats and be struggling to reach top 4.

I agree with the Greenwood and Ronaldo situation. The others I would say are fairly common in top squads and something managers have to deal with. If we’re being objective, let’s see how he does this year before handing him a new deal. We did win the FA cup but we also came 8th. That was not solely down to injuries, there were times when we had a relatively strong first team and lost to teams in the bottom half. Let’s not rewrite history.

Payback from last seasons final. ETH spot on tactically and the team setup was perfect, schooled Pep. 2 trophies in 2 seasons and 3 finals, cant look past that. Everyone is linked to United. However I doubt McKenna was in with a realistic shout, sounds like a negotiating tactic to get a better deal from Ipswich. Agents do it all the time to get their clients a better deal. As a NI person I want McKenna to do well, if he succeeds with Ipswich in the PL, he may well be in with a shout in a few years.
@Miloxiaocelao5 ай бұрын
I like his attitude. A “fuck you” to the doubters. The kind of feistiness that’s a little more positive than Jose and Luis at the end of their tenure. Also, it’s either “he spent x million pounds, how is he not champion yet?” Then it’s “injuries don’t matter, he should win games with second, third, even fourth choices” like those doubter need to grow a brain or some conscience. Keeping him one more year costs Utd nothing. In fact it’s a breaking of the cycle of having to pay players and coaches who don’t work here anymore. It’s good business sense. Lastly, I don’t think ETH really got the players he wanted. We all know the players he got weren’t his first choices. Case and Evans couldn’t have been what he asked for. Hojlund is what he wanted, but a backup plan after Kane. The list goes on. The one that really stank up his rep is Antony. But that even has Gakpo drama in the mix. Coaches make poor signings. Fergie, Pep, Ancelloti and many have signed people turned out to be poor fits. Don’t hear Pep out ever. Or Fergie out or any others. Back the coach and give him time. God damn

McKenna signing a new contract at Ipswich is a great move for all concerned: He gets a free hit at the Premier League, if he keeps them up, Ipswich and him are in a great position this time next year. If not, he was never expected to given the squad etc etc INEOS get time to bed their people in and get the structure up, running and in working order. They keep ten Hag on, save on money in terms of sacking him and his staff. INEOS can then do what they want this time next year and all save face. This is obviously working on the premise that he is the one they want.
@ccogdill1520285 ай бұрын
Ronaldo's commentary around the middle of this video sums up the contradiction that people who want Ten Hag sacked are having to deal with. "I wish he would have changed his approach to suit the players" will turn into "he needs to play his football and his principles regardless of who is lined up on the pitch. Look at Ange at Tottenham..." when the results aren't there. No manager is going to be successful here because the supporters don't have the stomach for a rebuild.
@alexandernorth44615 ай бұрын
Fans are fans and generally, whether on social media or not, they will change their tune as they're emotionally invested. It depends on the management, at all levels, to change the outlook of Utd. Fan opinions, and fan channels, have nothing to do with it...just look ar Arsenal who are progressing well, yet they still have a social media following, and fan base, that's the equivalent of liquid diarrhoea on the best of days.
@dondamon46695 ай бұрын
Ronaldo is one of those fans that constantly talks rubbish and seems to not realise that the players have let down other managers. He's got a Chelsea fan heart and I doubt whether he supports Manchester United and it's just a job but 100% he doesn't understand football

They also need to understand that there is a difference between Cup and League play. Or do they remember when Fergie used to line up defensively and change his attacking tactics in the EPL....because I don't. But if you can....please do.
@ccogdill1520285 ай бұрын
@EnshroudedLad again... this supporter base doesn't have the stomach for a rebuild. The way Ten Hag played all year is how he's going to play. It will work if we have more players capable of holding possession, playing a pass, and interchanging positions across the line. Rashford, Bruno, Mainoo, Garnacho, Hojlund, Mount and Amad are an awesome place to start. But we need another few ball players in the center of the park, a destroyer that can win possession and eat ground, and another winger that can interchange play like Amad does (Olise). The defense will take care of itself with more capable bodies, it's fine. The bones of a squad getting 80+ premier league goals are there. They're all young enough for this 3-4 year window with ETH. Let him cook.
@azog235 ай бұрын
What if all this speculation about ten Hag is Ineos trying to figure out who is leaking information. So they tell one person they're looking at de Zerbi, another they want Tuchel, a third that they want Pochetino, etc. Then they sit back and see what rumours come out so they can figure out who's leaking before the transfer window.
@ClaireSeaman-z9k5 ай бұрын
I love it when people say what is ten hag style first year was his style and most clean sheets 3rd and a cup 8th and fa cup final win was his style so people don't understand football that's on you rebuild take 3,5 years not 2 yrs take 5 of any top 4 teams back 4 and leave them with 1 cb and no lb and see were they come in the league we need to sign 2 cb 1 lb 1 lw 1 cm 1 st and sell 5,6 players then see what happens next season
@Charlie_Alpha_Lima5 ай бұрын
Klopp and Arteta finished outside top 4 twice and were given time. Look at them now. Without those 115 oil cheats, both those guys would have 2 Premier league titles and that's a fact. ten Hag smashed it in his debut season and honestly who knows where would have finished this season without the injury madness? Ineos is moving in and starting a new process. Erik has clearly laid a good foundation. Surely it makes sense to let Erik finish out his contract while they 'test' out this new structure and if he takes us higher (which I'm convinced he will), great. If not, we have hungry new players coming in, their new structure will be a year older and the new gaffer will be walking into a more stable environment. Ratcliffe has asked the fans to exercise patience which we will ESPECIALLY after defeating the evil empire on Saturday. To me the decision couldn't be simpler.
@lucasvanwijngaarden6705 ай бұрын
People say you can't base a decision on one game and that's true. But if there was a doubt about his tactical knowledge, one of games are exactly what you should be looking at. Especially in a cup final where a manager is willing to divert from the style of play they are trying to implement.

As amazing as Saturday was, the Coventry game felt like a more accurate summary of where we are. Reverse Fergie Time, unable to play to the final whistle. The injuries have taken their toll, but there were more pragmatic ways to play this season. Not being able to get the best out of the group that was left, or playing to their strengths, doesn't reflect well on the coach. Solskjaer was ditched for less, and his awful run was far shorter. ...but we had an amazing end to a dreadful season, so let's be grateful for that. If ETH can demonstrate he's learnt from his mistakes, maybe it is worth sticking with him, at least one more year.

@justdavelewis5 ай бұрын
My biggest concern this season has been out of possession and it's a result of wanting to press with the forwards but not with the back line. How many times have we seen a team easily play through our press and be in at our goal within a handful of passes? How many times have we seen teams driving through the centre of the pitch where a normal midfield should be? How many of the same cutback goal have we conceded? Ten Hag has tried, this season, to move us away from the low/midblock from last season and tried to be more on the front foot, and that's fine in principle, its where we want to be. The problem is, what we saw this year IS what he thinks is the best way to do that... even when we've had basically the best team available, the same issues have been present, and that proves it's not injury related. I don't have an issue with EtH wanting to play HIS way, I'm just not convinced that it will work anymore. He had the same issues at Ajax but Ajax were the best team in the league so they could easily pin teams back. The physical level in the dutch league is also miles off the premier league so transitions are so much more deadly in England as a result. If the club sit down with him and he holds his hands up and says "you know what? thats on me... I'll make my players commit to a full press next season, but I need physical players to do so" and we see those kinds of signings come in etc. so that by game week 1 we no longer have an ocean between the attackers and defenders then I'm all for keeping him. He's shown he can adapt tactics to beat certain teams and thats a big plus for me... I lean EtH out but only because I think he is set in his ways with how he thinks we should behave out of possession, and my evidence for that is this season, last season (less obvious last year as we didn't press high with the forwards) and his Ajax tenure. I don't think it translates to english football, especially not in the league. In the cups it seems to work better, but cup football tends to be played a little more cautiously due to the jeopardy factor. I tend to ramble when I comment lmfao... What i'm trying to say is that i think he should leave, and I think he will.... BUT I really like him, and I would love for him to work out. I hope he stays because i think that will mean things are going to change, but if he leaves it means things likely would have been similar to the season just gone... sadly I feel like the latter is most likely

City were arrogant on Saturday. They started the game exactly the same as they did last year, expecting it to go the same way. United wanted it more and were tactically sound. More possession doesn’t mean City played well; they had a lot of the ball and did nothing with it. They were sloppy and their biggest players didn’t turn up; Haaland and De Bruyne were passengers the entire time they were on the field. It makes no sense to change Ten Hag after winning two trophies. See how he performs under a new and improved structure with new players under his belt and go from there.

Guys Im sorry I couldnt watch you anymore when everything got so negative but at least im glad now finally everyone really realizes what the problem was. LICHA!!!! Its as if the world had forgot how important he was last year. And definitely glad to hear Pep say it because he was the reason United didnt look shit last season.. When ETH said injuries he was talking about Licha. But of course you cant blame or put pressure on 1 player.. Please dont forget about this anymore guys, stick with this manager. It was so frustrating hearing the same negative talk week in week out and nobody thought of all the obvious reasons.. Hope youve learned to be less emotional. Big up for defending ETH out in the open!!

I believe Ineos have known for months that ten hag wasn’t their guy. They’ve seen the odd clash with players and deemed ten hag “too difficult” to manage, they don’t want a manager with personality they want a coach who’s a puppet, and green around the ears McKenna is perfect. Trust me, ten hags days are numbered.. either he won’t get transfers again or they’ll raise the bar so far on what their expectations are he’s destined to fail. I trust ten hag, I do not trust Sir Jim. If he was a “lifelong fan” this whole debacle wouldn’t have happened

Great performance. But one you can only wheel out 4-6 times a season. This game shouldn't move you from whichever side of the fence you are on

we collectively need to understand. liverpool was one of the best few years ago they still had their full squad, and the only major person missing was van dyk cause of his acl look where they finished that season. onana was bought to link with martinez mainly then the rest but even his had to kick out long. it does mess up the whole system n style as the rest of the defence does not possess martines cool calmness on the ball and the ability to play out like him. regardless of the fa cup win. no standout candidate for me thts shouts out they improve us for the long hall. erik has 12m left club has to back him in the summer n giv him till Christmas if results/performance are the same then look else where however for now lets keep him

Full credit to Ten Hag for winning the F.A. Cup. It's always great to see Shitty get beat. Well done, United. However, remember United under Ten Hag were AWFUL for most of the season. If United can find and hire a first-rate manager, you have to say goodbye to Ten Hag.

i agree ,nice comment,ten hag has been awful,winning fa cup means nothing if we come 10th next season

1. There is no first rate manager available 2. We weren't awful last season and we've seen the difference both last season and this season when those missing players are fit

We was always going to win. We have two World Cup winners at CB and they had a championship level striker. Such a mismatch

What a small section of united fans do not realize, by winning the FA cup...united have relegated Chelsea to conference league, Eliminated Newcastle from Europe completely...and denied Arsenal a place in the charity shield😮.All this done by winning one game.Ten Hag has come into United with everything against him, the team was a complete mess,having to deal with player power, injuries etc.Despite all this, reaches 3 cup finals and wins two trophies.

I worry about losing Varane. He really gets the team and the fans revved up. Licha can't do it on his own.

This won't win me any fans on here but ngl I never judge United in game vs Liverpool or City. Simply cause we could be in the Championship & still turn up against them due to the history of the game. City always shite themselves & even Ole knew what the blueprint was to beat Pep. Recency bias is wild, you can't make a decision off 1 win imo. I'd rather judge Erik against what he does against the 18 other teams in the league & European clubs who aren't highly rated.

Jose Mourinho will be appointed because he is the king of transitional and counter attacking systems. His record is better than ETH.
@Delboy835 ай бұрын
If Jim sacks ETH it will not only prove he is full of shit but he is an extension of the glazers. Jim is on record saying we need to have patience as its a big job turning this club around, man utd have had some good managers post fergie and still not succeeded so we should look at the infrastructure of the club and made clear his admiration for Arsenal staying with Arteta and seeing through the project. All this indicates he would support our manager. Lets see , ill calling for ineos out if they sack him and will boycot buying official merch

Also 1st manager post Fergie to win back 2 back Trophies. Not to mention he has created a path way from academy to 1st team
@GordyB6665 ай бұрын
There's literally nothing wrong with INEOS canvassing other managers. ETH has 1 year left, wasn't appointed by them, and has had an extremely poor league and European campaign. I would be more worried if they weren't canvassing other managers. It doesn't mean they're going to prefer or be more convinced by another manager's proposed project to ETH's. The sensible thing for INEOS to do is settle the back room changes, invest in the squad and see how ETH get's on by Xmas. If we're more like his first season or better, he's deserving of another 3 years. If next season is a disaster, change it up at Xmas.

I have a horrible feeling it’s going to be Potter. It will be the wrong decision to sack Ten Hag. He has done more than enough to get another season. And the way he conducted himself on Cup Final day oozed a combination of self-belief and warmth. But I think the fact it has gone very quiet on Potter is ominous.
