Thank you for talking about this. I'm scheduled to begin T within the next month but the prospect of losing key emotional and intellectual components of being female has been scaring the hell out of me. It says a lot for your humanity beyond gender that you've recognised, articulated and are fighting these changes. I wonder if, medically, there's some fine-tuning that could be done with the way hormones interact in the emotional sphere.

Thank you for talking about more than physical aspects of transition / transitioning. I would like to hear more about emotional / psychological changes of being on T. Peace.

You've come to an interesting place, one where I've been in quite some time now. Certainly, there are behaviors we learn before hormones begin their changes in us. Now, estrogen isn't as forceful as testosterone, but the changes still happen and I think that our mental health is better when we accept those changes rather than fight them.

all i could think while you were talking about the left/right hand thing is that aren't trans people ambidextrous? or that they become so? what about transwomen who have an orchiectomy or transmen who have an oophorectomy? i had an oophorectomy 5 months on T & i'm now almost 10 months on T. i can tell a huge difference in the first 5 months & last 5 months of hrt. when the estrogen left my body & brain, my brain became both wired correctly & began rejecting unnecessary meds & so much changed!...

...what about transwomen who grow up experiencing primary socialization as females & transmen who grow up experiencing primary socialization as males? that's the case for some transfolk, while others feel they were socialized incorrectly & have to overcome that & be socialized as the new sex/gender as adults. with transfolk transitioning at younger & younger ages & it being more socially accepted, a female bodied person may be raised right handed (M) & remain right handed (M), etc. great video!!
