Every rays fan who has been watching the team for years will tell you this did not happen overnight. The Archer trade, signing Franco & trading for Randy, they’ve made so many incredible moves over the past 5 years to position themselves for a real championship window. Rays teams of the past have always had a gimmick vibe to them. This team has a mean streak/edge to it that the league is not going to want to face in October. They look like the real deal.

I worked for the Rays organization in Venezuela for over 10 years. Before that, I worked with Houston, along with Andres Reiner, who later took me to the Rays. There is a million miles between each team in regards to appreciation for the staff, compliance with what was agreed upon and so many other aspects, that made me fall in love with the Rays organization, even the "big guys" back then (about 6 to 7 years ago), I am referring to Chaim Bloom, now General manager of the Red Sox, and so many others, made me feel like I belonged. Those guys made sure I knew the great job that was being accomplished. Back in those days (not so long ago), great talent was signed in the farm located in Guacara, Venezuela. Names like German Marquez (traded to Colorado), Alvarado (now with the Phillis), Omar Narvaez (now with the Mets), Chirinos (still with Tampa), Rene Pinto (currently in AAA, being called up many times during the 2022 season), among others who are still working hard to make it. There is no comparison......I mean, the vision Rays staff has, scouting every minor league team of other organizations and getting players underrated by those organizations is just awesome, not to mention the hard work and constant adjustments they are capable to teach the new comers, just turn most of them into diamonds....Today, all that patient work is certainly paying off. I must admit that I felt a bit disappointed when it was very clear that the Rays were not going to sign one or two proven batters to boost their offense.....they knew that most of last year players, injury free, were going to be at their best, also adding Lowe and Raley in the lineup was going to have an impact......Rays philosophy of baseball is unmatched by any other team in MLB, no matter the abundant resources they might have to sign anyone. I know it’s really early to predict, but Rays fans like me, are enjoying this moment to the fullest....

To add to the points you made near the start comparing basketball and baseball: you can field a star player in basketball for most, if not all 48 minutes in regulation time; meanwhile, a star baseball player only bats once every 9 batters, and an elite starter pitcher only starts once every 4-5 days. These differences help contribute to the upsets we see every year come playoff time, which make every series a fun watch.

Bro in the nba “1 or 2 of the best players” does not guarantee they’re going to be in finals 😂 you clearly don’t have much understanding of basketball but other than that decent video.

Reds fan here. Its been nearly 4 hours since the Reds defeated the Rays 8-1 in the first game of a 3-game series in Cincinnati. But, I'm not here to gloat. I like how you broke down some of the Rays' payroll. I know that the Reds have been taking a similar approach for years, but without results approaching anything near what the Rays have achieved to start this season. It's how a team responds after a game like the loss to the Reds that show that team's character. And, I like what I saw with the Rays! They didn't hang their heads, they didn't show defeat with their body language. It's a shame that the Rays don't draw fans at home any better than they do, because this team is worth the effort to drive over to that dome that they play in and watch a few of their games!

I live in downtown Tampa across from Amalie arena, I'm shocked at how little coverage this team is getting here, it was the Bucs w Brady, and always has been a Lightning town for good reason. Hopefully their new stadium and a world series title will get them the attention they deserve!

In the 2003 World Series, I think the New York Yankees had 3 pitchers that made more than the entire Florida Marlins and the Marlins won
