A brief description of the NPL system in australia. The good, the bad and the ugly. If you are a foreigner coming over to to Australia these are some things that I wish I knew before coming.

The main problem is selection, most teams are nationally based like Bonnyrigg being Serbian or Marconi Italian and my old club which I’m not naming is all South Americans now. It’s about your nationality too

Yep definitely a problem even amongst state league clubs that try to cater towards certain demographics of people and not give everyone a chance. My old club was a very Greek club, proud Greek owners - most of the players were Australian Greeks too, what I came to realise is that they gave preference on who’d they give game time too, by giving the Greek players much more time (even if they weren’t strong players) and anyone who wasn’t Greek and maybe wasn’t as strong a player would be lucky to get 5 mins game time as opposed to the not so strong Greek players. Hence why I left because the bias was just so evident and no one would dare call it out

Haha, I played in npl NSW for a few seasons recently (ended up getting sick of it). So true about it being dodgy, hard to trust anyone, but that's the case in almost every age group in numerous ways.

Try break into first grade as soon as possible! If not try going lower leagues in England

Bro I think you can help me. I was semi pro from Germany I am looking for a npl club but they don't answer my emails I don't know if it's because I am 30. I talked a lot with other players and they told me that 30 it's not a big problem but I don't know if I am making something wrong I wrote npl Queensland teams now i think about to write clubs from nsw. Maybe you have a good advice for me.

Years ago I contacted directly via email a premier league club in Melbourne (i.e., Melbourne Knights) in an attempt to see what I could set up for my youngest brother. I was surprised with the response, if I am honest. They invited him to come in on one of their training nights, but he lost interest..
