From my personal footballing experience, all semi pro players are dream chasers who put in everything they hv to try make it at the very top. It’s very hard trying to train after working/ studying all day, and the money some clubs pay is honestly not worth all the effort put in ( at least in my state). This is just the sad reality of footballers who couldn’t make it to the top

Is it because you love the game and have no other choice, or are you doing it because you want the flash cars and the spotlight? There are opportunities out there for players, they just may not be on your doorstep.

Generally, from our experience students are only allowed to work 20 hours a week. But we do not believe there are any restrictions stopping you from playing football whilst in Australia.

Hi Abdull, it depends on the level, but generally speaking most teams will hold trials at the start of preseason. You may find that most teams split out the current squad from those on attending the trial. Anyone they have invited down specifically will probably join in with the squads session to see how they fit in.

Thanks for your message and for your email, although we are already talking we want to try and answer this question here so it may assist others in the future. Without knowing anything about you specifically we have to answer in general terms. But yes, most teams will hold trials at the start of each season which you may be able to attend. You could be looking at trying to secure a spot in the u18 squad with a view to work your way up through the ranks.

Coming to Australia to study can be costly depending on the course you pick, so make sure you do your research. Some players will come over on working holiday visas, which is a good idea if that's available to you. In terms of getting into a semi-pro club, as long as you are good enough coaches won't care where you are from. If possible it would be a good idea to have made contact with some coaches and clubs to line up some trials for yourself so you can hit the ground running and not waste time when you get here.

Hey canisquare. There are a lot of factors that come into play, so it's not a straight forward answer. But our advice would be, focus on moving up the ladder one rung at a time. Chances are, unless you're an absolute genius, a big club isn't going to come and sign someone directly from SL2 when they can take their pick from all the players available playing above you. I recommend watching our video on how to get scouted. We detail some points and layout a it of a plan for people asking similar questions.

There are some very talented players in Australia, that's for sure. You have a much larger population in the UK where football is the main sport, that's not quite the case here...yet though things are rapidly changing. But on the other side, the UK has A LOT more football clubs you could potentially play for. Your question could be quite subjective, what do you regard as a higher standard....what standard are you starting from...what do you consider hard or easy....

Almost all clubs hold trials. But at you're age, if you were approaching an NPL club for trials you would most likely have to enter into the trails for your age group. If you kill it in there, the club will most likely move you up to the next step, were you have to kill it again. Repeat these steps all the way up to the senior squad. If you continue to kill it at that level, then every chance an A-league club would be watching you. Where you would need to start all over again.

The smartest and cheapest way to get there is to work hard every day on being a better version of yourself. Analyse your game, be honest with yourself and identify your weaknesses, try to improve them and play to your strengths. Put yourself out there and keep making sure you perform. Try to play at the highest level you can and make an impact with each performance. Whilst doing all this, be patient, you're still young. Reach out to teams and coaches and work on your networking skills.

Hey Bryan, so without knowing you as a player I can't say if you could play pro or semi-pro, but let's say you have the ability to for that level....you could definitely study whilst playing semi-pro and in all honesty you could whilst being pro, there are players that have done that. you should just check out myfootball.com.au check out the local clubs close to where you are. these are for local clubs. The Semi NPL clubs tend have the majority of their teams sorted, but they have open trials usually around october.

Dropping down a league or two to pick up 1st team experience playing against experienced adults can do you wonders!
